Chapter Eight

Gwyneth's POV

"What is your plan?" Zaina asked while I am busy fixing the laces of my shoes, she's doing the same thing as me.

We are here in the locker room with the rest of our classmates to change into our PE uniform, so it's not surprising that every corner of this room was corrupted by an ear piercing noise made by them.

"Can you tie my hair?" I pleaded Zaina as I stood up and went straight to the full-length mirror like usual locker room would have.

"Obviously they like you and you don't have to ask them that. It's pretty obvious you know, except for Denver who almost bragged earlier that he was flirting with you. How whipped he can get lmao." I saw her reflection from the mirror. "What can you say? " she then asks as she trod her way towards me.

"I honestly don't know what to say." I simply said.

What should I say? They're not even my type and I was about to decline Denver's feelings towards me, I am just waiting for a perfect timing.

"Who will you choose among them? I mean, Denver likes you, and Kalex is undoubtedly whip as hell. You can't have them both because you only have one heart. You can't compress those idiots in and expect them to be fine. You had to choose who tickles your heart's best." She said in an unusual tone and it doesn't suit her, swear. She was born with a megaphone mouth and I can effin' say that the word 'serious' and Zaina is not a good fit at all.

"Correction, Kalex isn't whipped especially not of me. He's just a complete douchebag who's too greedy to share what he had." I corrected her with an eye roll.

I have known Kalex since I was in eighth grade. He’s a jerk and a mutt at the same time. What's his is his. Rip it off him and he'll be your unwanted rival.

"You mean, he owns you?" she asked.

"Something like that."

In my current situation, he owns me because he already paid for my service. All I had to do is to do my share as his contract girlfriend and just go with the flow until the very end of our agreement.

"But still, I really have this feeling that he likes you. He acted strange earlier upon hearing Denver's confession. It's like he wanted to rip someone's guts" Zaina still insists on what she perceive is right.

"Just shut up, okay? Besides, if he really does like me, it's no use cause I can't reciprocate what he felt towards me. I already had someone I wanted to be with the rest of my life, so if I were him, he better kill his feelings." I just said for her to stop.

How many times do I have to tell that Kalex doesn't really like me and never will? Tch.

"Gosh! Don't tell me you're still into your childhood crush." I saw how her eyes went wide as saucers. She abruptly grab both of my shoulders and forced me to face her. "Can't you just move on already? I mean, how sure are you that he's gonna come back? Stop rooting for him and find a man!"

"You're loud as a nagger." I complained, removing her hands from my shoulders then turned my back on her and walked out of the locker room.

I didn't bother to wait for her so I went straight to the gym where we would play volleyball. Our PE instructor notified us that he might come late, so we should warm up first and practice every skills needed to play volleyball. We should make use of our idle time for the mean time .

"GWYNETHHHH!"

I turned to the person who shouted my name and as soon as I whipped around, the ball hit my forehead without knowing where it came from.

"BOOOOOO!" the students taunt out loud when I fell with a loud thud on the court, caressing my sore forehead with the back of my hand.

I feel like my brain was shaken with the impact of my fall and of the ball.

"Oops, didn't see you there. I'm sorry." I heard a voice approaching near me. I haven't even look up yet, but I already know that pretentious voice.

"Are you okay?" Zaina suddenly came and helped me to to stand up on my feet.

I slowly stood up and glared at the bitchy Allaine, the one who hit me with a ball. "I'm good." I assured Zaina but I still did not take my eyes off Allaine.

"You!" Zaina shouted angrily and pointed her index finger towards the bitch in front of us."You're overdoing it." She was about to attack Allaine but I immediately stopped her.

"Zaina, stop it!"

Even though my head is a bit sore and started throbbing, I still stopped my friend from retaliating because I don't wanna make things worse.

"Now what? Do you really think I would be scared with your pointless comeback? Oh c'mon, you can do better than that." Allaine jeered which heightened Zaina's vexation, trying hard to be free from my grip.

She looks up at me with those pleading eyes of rage, I sofly shook my head. I'm begging for her not to feed the troll. She's not worth it.Tsk

"Next time, be observant of what's happening around you. Who knows? Maybe next time, something vicious might hit you aside from ball. Be careful sweetie." Allaine leered before turning her back on us.

I stared at her retreating figure, thinking about what she said last night. When she told me that she wouldn't cease on bothering me until I avoided Kalex. She's really serious about it huh. I can't help but sigh, she's a pain in the ass. I feel sorry for her, she's utterly infatuated with the jerk. Gosh!

"What's the matter? Why did you stop me from punching that bitch? Her blood could have been pooling right now if you hadn't just restrain me. Tsk!"

I jolt back to my consciousness when I saw the raging Zaina. She's mad as hell and in her state, I can say that she's not in full control of herself.

"Calm down, remember we're still under the school's premises. You don't want to be kicked out right? So, please hold your horses until we get outta here." I said to soothe her anger.

I'm still a tad bit anxious and I don't know the reason why my chest just beats so fast like a racing horse.

"The hell I care Gwyn. Right now, I just wanna make her pay for crossing the fucking line."

"If you badly want to tweak her neck, then fine whatever floats your boat. Just not here with myriads of eyes witnessing the entire scene." I shouted and then turned my back on her.

I was walking towards the bleachers when a shout put me to an abrupt stop. "Gwyneth!"

I saw one of my classmates running towards me. "What is it?" I immediately asked her.

"Your locker!" She sighed in response.

I didn't ask her further, instead I quickly ran to the locker room. I was once again enveloped in an agitation and it went twofold as I got nearer to my locker. It's as if I'm going to faint any minute now and this is a first.

"W-What is happening in here?" I asked anxiously as students pave the way for me to pass.

I disrupted the conversation of the group of students who were making a fuss just to find out what had happened to my locker. "Excuse me," I said politely to every student I passed. "Can you let me pas—Denver?" I'm utterly schocked when I saw him comfortably sitted on a stool near my locker, holding a guitar.

"There she is… my lovely lady." He said with a delightful countenance making his deep-set grayish blue eyes shone. The next thing I heard is the stramming of a guitar.

What is this for? Can somebody illumine me?
