Chapter 5

"Alpha, another letter has arrived for you." Mandry announced, earning Celus' attention. He sat in his office with his Beta and the Alpha of Crest Wing pack, residing in England.

He was a tall pale man with light blonde hair and light grey eyes. A deep scar was prominent on his right cheek and a snarl gracing his lips.

"What are you doing here." Alpha Krey growled, not liking the sudden interruption.

"Now, Alpha Krey, I apologize. Thank you Mandry, please just set it by the door." She gave him an apologetic look before closing the door slowly. Not many were a fan of Krey. He wasn't a very friendly man. He had it in his head that he was to be treated higher than any other Alpha, and he thought he could take over any pack if he wanted to.

"As I was saying, I haven't had any issues on my land, and I don't plan on it any time soon. I am not sure what kind of help you are searching for, but I feel I won't be of any use to you." Krey growled.

"Now Krey, do you remember when you were being threatened by a rogue pack and my pack and I traveled to your land and helped you fight?" Celus straightened in his chair and growled.

"I am well aware of the instance. However, I did not ask for your help. My pack and I had everything completely under control." He scoffed, not liking the fact that Celus doubted the strength of his pack.

"Krey, when we arrived you were losing. I am not going to argue over this with you, but just know that if you walk out of this office with the same attitude you have now, our peace treaty will no longer stand. We will see how strong your pack is then." Celus' eyes turned a shade darker. His wolf didn't like his disrespect after everything he has done for them.

"Is that a threat Landrews?" He growled, slamming his fists on the table.

"No." Celus stood. "I promise you." They got nose to nose before Brady stood and shoved them apart.

"Alphas, please. We don't want to start a war." They both took a step back, still standing stiffly. "Can we please get back to our previous conversation?" Both males growled, Krey dropping himself into his seat with a huff.

"Excuse me. I need a moment." Celus excused himself and grabbed Salen's letter before walking into the hallway. Brady gave him a confused look, but he just ignored it.

Celus ripped open the envelope, ignoring the irritated feeling he was having.

Reading the letter made him feel even more uneasy. What kind of secrets was she talking about? He needed to help her, no matter the cost.

Celus shoved his way through his office door and sat in his chair with confidence.

"Krey, what do you know about Alpha Darron Kinsley?" Krey straightened us and clasped his hands, clearing his throat.

"Oh wow. I haven't heard his name in a long time. Darron Kinsley is not a nice man. He is sneaky and hires others to do his dirty work." Celus raised his eyebrow in confusion.

"What kind of dirty work?" Krey snarled.

"Word is he is not a true Alpha." Celus gasped.

"What? What do you mean?" He growled.

"Apparently his father took over the Moon Dust Pack before Darron was born. According to rumors, he partnered with rogues and took over the pack by force, overthrowing the Alpha and erasing any of their history." Celus was dumbfounded.

"How did I not know any of this?" He growled.

"He did it all on the down low so no one was suspicious. I only know, because my cousin's mate came from that pack. No one knows if it's even true, that's just what I heard." He scratched his chin and sighed. "Why so interested in the Moon Dust Pack all of a sudden?"

Celus examined the Alpha. He wasn't sure if he could trust him with his secrets. "It's...not important. I was just curious is all." He grunted, slumping back in his chair.

"Well is this meeting over? I would like to get back to my land to see my mate." He pushed himself up out of his chair and held his hand out to Celus. Celus took it and shook firmly.

"Well it was nice meeting with you." Both Alphas stood in an awkward silence before Krey dismissed himself.

Celus groaned and dropped his head onto his desk. Brady pulled the chair up in front of him and straddled it, giving his friend a concerned look-over.

"What's going on? Is there something I can help with?" He asked, watching Celus shake his head without looking up. "Celus." He grunted. "Come on. Maybe I can help you." Celus slowly lifted his head, and Brady could finally see the exhaustion in his eyes.

"I don't know Brady. I am just so on edge with everything going on in Darron's pack; mostly with Salen. I just don't know what to do right now. I haven't been able to think let alone think." He groaned.

"You mean sleep?" Brady chuckled at his word stutter. Celus smiled and rolled his eyes.

"Yes. That's what I meant. Thanks." He laughed and shook his head.

"You just need to go to bed for a while. I can take care of things here. You aren't doing anyone any good like this." Celus nodded.

"I'm going to try." He lifted himself slowly and organized the papers on his desk in a neat pile. "I need to do something first."

"What's that?" Brady stood by his side, waiting for him to tell him what to do.

"I need to find the book of Alphas." Brady took a step back.

"The book of Alphas? No one has seen that in a long time." Celus nodded.

"I need to take a trip. Pack your bags Brady, we're going to Italy." Celus walked towards his room with Brady hot on his tail.

"Italy? What for?" He asked, rushing to keep up with the Alpha's long legs.

"My aunt is Luna of a pack there, and she may have an idea of where my grandparents hid the book." He grabbed a suitcase from the back of his closet and began throwing in some clothes off hangers. He made sure to grab his watch that his father gave him.

"I remember when he gave that to you." Brady sat at the edge of his bed, watching Celus pack. "He was a good man." Celus stood still, looking down at the watch. Besides the pack, this was the only thing his father passed down to him before he passed away.

"It's just weird not having them here. I wanted to be Alpha, but I wanted it the right way." He sighed and finished packing, zipping up his suitcase. "Go pack so we can go. I'll meet you downstairs with the car in ten minutes.

Brady gave him a sympathetic look before going down the stairs to his room.

"Alpha." Mandry stopped him in the hallway. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you going?"

"I need to make a visit to my aunt. I will be back in a few days. Lane will be in charge while I'm away." Lane was one of Celus' friends and his third in command. He had bright red hair and freckles covering most of his face. He was fairly tall with brown eyes and light facial hairHe found his mate while they were young, so he moved out of the pack house and into a small cottage by a nearby river.

"I understand. Would you like me to tell Salen?" He sighed.

"No. Not yet at least. I need to make sure I find what I'm looking for before anyone hears about this. Just keep an eye on things and let me know if anything happens." She bowed slightly and dismissed herself to the kitchen where a few pack mothers were making dinner for everyone. "Goodbye ladies. I'll be back in three days." He gave them a tight smile and headed towards the garage where they held all the vehicles that were needed for the members.

Pulling out his cell phone, he dialed his aunt's phone number before holding it to his ear and listening to it ring. After a few moments she picked up.

"Hello this is Luna Jaden. Who is this calling?" Her familiar voice rang through his ears, causing a tightness in his chest.

"It's Celus." He grumbled, suddenly realizing why he hasn't talked to her in a while.

"Oh my gosh, Celus! It's been so long since I've heard your voice. How is everything?" He growled.

"Fine. I'm headed to your pack. I need your help with something. Just tell your mate to let us into his territory. We will be there in about six hours." He hung up and threw his phone into the car before starting the engine.

Brady was out a minute later with his bag in hand before they were off towards the airport.
