Chapter 6

I was praying so hard that my current situation was only a terrible dream. I was desperate to convince myself that I was still fast asleep in the bedroom I had deemed to be mine from the very first moment I walked through Jabu’s home. I tried to convince myself that at any moment, I would wake up and be back in the safety of my bed and warm blanket, and I’d call my mum and dad and tell them about what I had dreamt of. Yet no matter how many times I tried to convince myself that this was all some terrible dream, my worst fears of Jabu’s newfound wealth and success were proven correct.

I always knew that Jabu wasn’t exactly the type of guy who made an honest living and that was partially the reason that I had moved into his home was to find it what exactly it was that he was doing. I know now that whatever Jabu is wrapped in is much worse than what he did in the past because here I am, his baby sister being dragged between to big burly men with tattoos covering every inch of their bald heads.  Each man held one of my arms, pulling me backwards as my head kept rolling back and forth with each of their hurried steps. Everything was so bright, then it became so dark, and the only thing that was consistent was the world spinning.

I don't know how many times they kept hitting me on my head but it was painful, as expected when someone gets hit in the head but it also made me drowsy and unaware of my surroundings. I was certain they were doing this because they were getting some kind of sick pleasure out of it because they hit me on the head every time I made a noise, even it was a simple moan or groan out of pain.

I could taste the blood in my mouth, and the stench of my vomit and my pee when they hit me on my head met my nose, but it didn't disgust me. I had far more important things to worry about, like whether I was going to live or not.

I tried to look around but my eyes kept rolling to the back of my head and my head just wouldn't sit still. I felt myself being thrown down all of a sudden, and I grunted as my head met the cold tiled floor and I cried softly.

"Please," I begged brokenly as my entire body shook in fear and pain, "p...help..." I rolled over and looked up, looking around to see two pairs of feet besides me and I looked up at the two men.

"Please," I cried as I shook my head back and forth, "oh..." I moaned in pain as I closed my eyes and tried to escape the pain but I couldn't.

"No..." I whispered weakly as I felt myself being lifted again. They held me by my arms, uncomfortably making me stand between the two of them with my arms over their shoulders as my neck snapped and my head rolled down, my eyes looking at the floor and my now bare feet.

I felt my hair being pulled and I cried out as they forced me to look up and this time I was met by the man; the man with a baby face. I blinked twice, looking at his face that looked so innocent and babyish to me.

"This is going to be your home for the next couple of days," he said, his accent like one I've never heard before, "I mean, a toilet, a bed..." he looked around the pitiful room and then at me, his eyes disgusted by the sight of me, "it's nothing personal," he just shrugged as he put his hands in his pockets, "just business."

He looked at the two men, saying something in his language and I took that time conjure up as much courage as I could from deep within me and I glared at him before I let out the ball of spit I had saved.

He stopped speaking right in the middle of his sentence as he shut his eyes quickly before the spit went directly into his mouth and he turned, spitting on the spot in the floor.

I let out a weak laugh, as I watched the man try to clean himself of my saliva, "that's what you get," I said, not sounding as powerful as you think, "asshole."

He brought the back of his hand to his mouth and then wiped it as he turned to look at me. His expression still stoic as he then adjusted his suit and stared me in the eye.

I definitely did not see his fist coming right into my nose. I screamed in pain and shock as my neck snapped back so painfully, I didn't know what was louder, the crack of my nose or the crack of my neck.

The men let go of me and I fell to the floor, holding out my arms to catch me. My hands quickly went to my nose and I felt a thick warm substance I was certain was my blood.

I opened my eyes and rolled over, crying as I looked into the face of the man who was looking down at me. He kicked me right in my stomach and I cried out, trying to breathe but everything stopped as I opened my mouth wide, a shocking pain coming over my entire body.

I was regretting what I'd done the second he punched me in the nose, but when he placed his foot on my neck and started to press down, I wished I was never born, "you think you can fucking spit in my mouth? You fucking bitch!" He exclaimed as he kicked me in my stomach again and I screamed as I rolled over, trying to catch my breath.

"Huh? You fucking bitch!" He shouted as he kicked me in my side and I cried out, "I should fucking kill you for disrespecting me!" He gripped me by my hair and I sobbed as I rushed to my feet to stop the searing pain.

"Listen to me you fucking animal," he growled in my face, his baby face no longer as "innocent" as it looked before but dark and ugly, "if you ever so much as fucking look me in my eyes again, I will," he paused, pulling me even closer to his face, "murder your entire family."

He tossed me back down and I crawled into a ball and started to wail in despair and fear.

Jabu, what have you gotten me into?
