My wolf is so annoying, I am trying to think but he won’t shut up. This girl made a good point, if she stays here then I can teach her how to get along with wolves.
And you can make sure she doesn’t turn into the monster that killed your mother and sister, Madox pipes in. I run my hand through my hair in frustration.
“Very well,” I say, and she looks at me in shock.
“What?”
“You may stay in the pack,” I mutter quickly before I can change my mind. Her eyes widen and her mouth opens and closes several times.
“Thank you so much! I can promise you that you will not regret your decision!” She gushes and I roll my eyes but can’t help the smile that crosses my lips from making my mate happy.
“Now how the hell do I get down from here?” She mutters and I remember that as is hanging upside down from the ceiling. She is staring at the chains around her ankles.
“I will call some guards to help you down,” I mutter, pushing open a portion of the wall. I slip through quickly and wave over a few of my guards.
“Get her down and bring her to my office,” I order.
“But sir, she’s a drag-”
“I know! Do as I tell you, do not question my orders! Take her to my office and do not let the pack see her!” I growl and they bow in respect.
I stalk through the prison maze before making it out into the forest. I suck in a deep breath and close my eyes as the familiar scent fills my nose.
The prison reeks of rogues and blood, so I do not go in there very often. The only time I usually do, is when one of my own pack members is in, but that hasn’t happened for almost two years.
Are you going to tell her about being mates? Madox suddenly asks me and I pause.
No, I tell him, and he growls.
Why not?
Because by telling her we are mates, I have made her my responsibility and my Luna! I snap.
She is already your responsibility, and what is wrong with her being Luna? He asks. I hear him snarl when I remain silent and start walking back to my house instead.
It’s because she’s a dragon isn’t it? That’s the stupidest thing I have ever heard! You heard her yourself, she is not a vicious creature, hell, she’s willing to live in a pack of fucking wolves for god’s sake! He growls at me. I clench my jaw and push him to the back of my mind.
I am so lost in my thoughts that I don’t even realize I am in my office until somebody knocks.
“Come in,” I say, shaking my head and sitting up in my chair. The door swings open to reveal the girl struggling between two guards.
I put up my hand and they pause, long enough for her to yank her arms out of their grip. She shoots them dirty looks and she curses them under her breath.
I raise an eyebrow at some of the language she uses, and she rolls her eyes when she notices me listening.
She sits down in one of the chairs in front of my desk.
“Oh my god this is so comfy!” She laughs and starts bouncing up and down in the chair. I watch her with furrowed brows and hear Madox laughing in my head.
“Have you ever been in a chair before?” I ask roughly. Her cheeks redden and she clears her throat.
“Uh-no, not really. The last time was probably when I was 3 or 4 years old,” she mutters, and I want to smash my head in.
You are such an ass! Madox growls and I agree with him.
“We need to figure out what you will be doing in the pack, for now you will be by my side at all times,” I decide and Madox happily agrees.
“What the hell am I going to do all day?” She asks.
“Nothing, I need to see how you interact with the pack first,” I tell her, and she sighs.
“Won’t they react a little badly at the idea of a dragon being by their Alpha’s side at all times?”
“They won’t know you are a dragon; nobody knows what a dragon smells or looks like anymore so it shouldn’t be too difficult,” I explain.
“But I sure as hell don’t smell like a wolf, and I’m pretty sure I don’t look like one either,” she scoffs, leaning back to cross her arms over her chest.
No, you don’t look like a wolf, I sigh internally.
She looks like a goddess, Madox voices my thoughts. Her chest is full, and her crossed arms are only making her cleavage more defined. She is wearing a tank top, showing off her upper body, and even with her baggy cargo pants, I can tell she has long, toned legs.
“I’ll figure it out, but in the meantime, I will show you to your room,” I say and leave my office, the girl right behind me.
I take her up the stairs and to a set of carved wooden doors. I push them open and she gasps, staring at the room in awe.
“Do you like it?”
She wanders into the room, nodding her head vigorously.
“Good, my room is right across the hall if you need anything,” I mutter, and she nods to show she is still listening. She walks around the room, touching a few things, almost as if to make sure they are real.
“Thank you, Alpha . . .?” She trails off.
“Daerius, but you don’t need to use formalities when we are not around any other wolves,” I tell her.
“My name is Lyzaria,” she says.
Lyzaria, I like it! Madox purrs happily making me roll my eyes.
“Would you mind me calling you Lyza?”
“I’d prefer you call me Lyzaria,” she retorts, and I smirk.
“Lyza it is then.”
Why is he finding it amusing to call you Lyza when you specifically asked him to call you Lyzaria? My dragon asks me.Because he thinks it’s funny to irritate me,I reply. How is that funny? It’s not really, he’s just an ass,I snort and Mitalonys chuckles a little.“Get cleaned up, I have to watch the warrior’s training in a half hour. The bathroom is through there and there are clothes in the closet that belong to my sister, but they should be about your size,” Daerius tells me.“Yeah okay,” I mutter, only half listening. When I hear the doors close, I groan and collapse onto the bed.Weariness and pain washes over me and I feel tears prick my eyes. My stomach still hurts where there is a knife gash and a massive bruis
To say that I am shocked would be an understatement.“Where did you learn to fight like that?” I ask, grabbing her arm and pulling her away from my warriors. She sighs a little.“My father taught me mostly. He had made a mistake that eventually led to his death. But in the time, he was alive, he trained me how to survive by fighting, and killing,” she says, clenching her jaw.“Well, I still don’t let females fight because if they were capture for any reason, they can’t withstand torture as well as males,” I explain, and she shakes her head with a breathy laugh.“Really? You tortured me, and I’m sure I held up better than most of your warriors would have,” she scoffs, and I frown.“Fine, you win. Now you are supposed to be maintaining a low profile so I suggest you shut up
“Wait so your name is Angel?” I ask Daerius’ sister.“Yeah, fits great doesn’t it?” She scoffs.“That’s because you try your hardest to prove that your name doesn’t fit,” a man says, walking up to us.“Oh! Lyza this is Gamma Mykael, he gets to hang out with us today. My brother never lets me leave without at least four guards and either Mykael, our Beta, or himself,” Angel mutters in annoyance.“Are you two ready to go?” He asks and I nod.A black SUV suddenly pulls up in front of us and I follow Angel inside. The inside is designed like a limo, with colorful lights running along the seats that are sideways. There is a cooler at one end and a TV at the other. I gape at the interior, ignoring Angel’s amused smile.
“Hey bro we’re back!” I hear Angel yell, followed by the front door slamming shut.Everything was fine, Lyza did not try to escape at all,Mykael tells me and I raise an eyebrow at her name.Lyza? Not ‘the dragon’ anymore? She is actually pretty entertaining and really funny, her and Angel get along really well,he replies. I make a surprised noise and head downstairs to see this for myself.Mykael along with the four guards are each carrying 4-6 shopping bags. Most of which I notice are striped pink.“I thought I told you not to buy the whole mall,” I say, and Angel rolls her eyes.“Hey, we managed to get it under $10,000. Last I checked you were okay with that,” she says.“Fine whatever, take the
He looks surprised at my compliance but then shakes it off.“What is your dragon’s name?” He asks. I make a face.“Seriously?”“I’m starting simple,” he shrugs.“His name is Mitalonys, but when I shift, he prefers being called Talon,” I say.“When did you shift into your dragon for the first time?”“When I was 14, but Mitalonys has always been around.”“Really?” He asks in surprise.“Yeah, we shift early in our lives, so we have more time to learn control, why?”“Well we shift into our wolves at 16, and that is also when we are able to start speaking to our wolves,” he tells me.“That must be why
She is reading a book on dragons?I ask Angel.Yeah, she says she doesn’t know anything about her own kind, she replies, sounding very confused.Well let me know if she happens to find anything interesting, and I want that book when she is finished with it. It could be very useful.***“What are you going to do tomorrow?” my beta Cadyn asks me.“About what?”“The dragon. Isn’t she supposed to be at your side at all times?”“Yeah, but I need to figure out a cover for her first,” I sigh, walking into my house.“Daerius is that you?” I hear Angel yell as she jogs downstairs.“Yeah, it’s me,” I call back. She has a thick book in her arms, co
Red flooded my vision as soon as he said those words. My father is the reason that all the Fire Dragons were killed all those years ago, he is the reason I have been running my whole life and the reason I was tortured just a few days ago.Mitalonys is growling furiously and I watch as Daerius starts to sweat suddenly.“Lyza, you need to calm down,” he says, his breathing ragged. He stands up, walking towards the door quickly and tearing off his shirt as soon as he leaves my room.My dragon’s anger continues to grow as I connect all the horrible times in my life to my father’s mistake.“Lyza you need to calm down!” Daerius shouts from the hallway.“It’s my dragon, not me,” I growl, clutching at my head as pain shoots through my skull.Mitalonys I am not shifting
I don’t blame Lyza at all for what happened. I am pissed at Angel for knocking her out, and for blaming her for it all. It wasn’t her fault.I let out a growl at having to explain this once again to my beta.“So, you are going to let her shift so that doesn’t happen again? And to do that you have to let her go back to the place she was born?” He asks.“Yes, now I want to take a group of warriors with us just in case,” I tell him, and he nods with a sigh.“Okay, what about your sister?”“What about her?” I ask with a shrug.“She is going to want to go with you, she doesn’t trust the dragon anymore.”“Well she is going to have to stay here then, and I want someone watching her at all times. If I come back a
