Chapter 2

The sun penetrated through the window gap. Chirp replies sound friendly into the ear. The door opened showing the figure of Mama who was on standby with a ladle in hand.

Ah, so I love Mom even more.

But it's a lie, oh well ...  It's true too.

"Mom, I'm still sleepy, five minutes again, please," I muttered, who was still sleeping with face downward and head covered in a pillow.

"One ... two ... thre- ... thre- !" Mother’s tone went up 4 octaves. I wasted a rough breath. "Ouhh... oke, i'II wake up, Mom."

"Well, that's my daughter. See, you’re  more beautiful right? Hehehe."

Mother chuckled. The ladle on her hands move to the top of nightstand.

Mother always like that in every morning, diligently waking up her daughter who was still sleeping lazily. Even so, Mother never plays physically with her children, no matter how angry her is. I salute with her.

I inched into my seat. Tilting my head to the right while rubbing my eyes as my habit to assemble half of my soul. Then, dragging steps into the bathroom. Almost locked the door, I remembered that I forgot to bring the towel in.

The 2 watt luminous bulb suddenly glowed over my head.

I smiled a little then peeked out of the bathroom. Sure enough, Mother is still there.

"Mom, please take me a towel," I said in a sad voice that I was sure she would obey.

"So, take a quick shower, you almost late," She told me.

After all, that was fast.

She give the towel into the bathroom where I deliberately opened the door slightly. Mother was grumbling outside.

"Thanks, Mom. You're so beautiful," I seduced. I peeked at her expression from the slightly open door, Mother smiled. There is something warm in here to see a beautiful smile as the Purnama.

"Sister, I want to come with you, yes?" said Alif as I got ready to put the rice into my mouth. I nodded in response to his words. While the young man smiled watching me. What is wrong? Alif doesn't usually like  smile to himself.

"Lif, i can see how happy you are. Do you want to tell me and Mom?" I asked the young man. Then his pale cheeks flushed red.

"It's nothing, Sister," He replied. His attitude changed like someone was being weird.

Ah, I know.

"Honestly I just want to know," I seduced him once again. His cheeks got even redder. The young man finished his meal and drink the milk then shook Mother's hand respectfully.

I shrugged.

"Sister, hurry up or I'll leave it," He said, leaving me curtly.

How terrible he is! I'm pout.

He asked to go and he also left me.

It sucks.

I spend the rice with one bribe, not forgetting to drink water. I saw Mother was ready to hold out her hand without asking. Mother is indeed the best.

I smiled to the woman who had a shady gaze after greeting her. I saw her wagging hand telling me to quickly follow Alif who was waiting at the house fence. Mother seen waving when I look back.

"A-lif, i'm tired." I bowed. Holds my knees when arrive besides him. Sweat flooded my brow.

"Hey, come on, if you don't want miss the bus later." Alif pull my hand, dragg me run next to him.

So we both ran up to the highway. Not far away, turn left then go straight later on the left seen the highway.

Running like this reduces the oxygen intake inthe lungs. It makes me short of breath. With choked breaths I told Alif to pause before continuing run.

"I'm ti-red, Lif!"

I purposely raised my voice so he could hear it. Alif stopped suddenly, it made me sway to the side because it was not balanced. But, Alif swiftly held my hand behalf I didn't fall.

"You too. Already know I’m a tired person. Instead, you force me to run.  It’s hard to get breath, you know!"

I pursed my lips at the boy who crossed his arms in front of his chest.

I bent down holding my knees. Neutralizes a racing heart. Currently we are on the side of the road with a few motorbikes passing by.

"Rather than late it is better to come quickly," He said pretentiously. I rolled my eyes lazily. This kid could suck the most.

 "Come on, hurry up!"

"Yes ... yes you are so nagging." I brushed roughly his hand that was grab my hand. He pursed lip as protested.

"I'm not a grandmother who needs to be led," I scolded him.

He splashed. Puckered his mouth in protest.

"Hurry up, Sister!" He ordered.

"Yes ....!" I shouted. Alif is far ahead while I'm still busy catching my breath and still haven't moved.

I running chasing him. The five-centimeter Hels is really a hindrance. That's why him  let I  go. It's okay even if i have to plug it in, rather than being willing to become a victim.

Even though it's been almost a year of wearing it. I'm not commonly used it. I think the most comfortable thing is wearing sneakers. Just comfortable. However, company regulations do not allow employees to use things outside the rules. Because they could be sanctioned or even fired immediately. Well, it's okay to be followed rather than fired.

Alif stopped his steps when he reached side of the road. There, many people were waiting. I can see from the uniform that most office people and also children school.

"Come on Sister, hurry and get to the bus," He shouted from afar. Hearing this I accelerated my pace, afraid that I would miss it.

"Where's the bus?" I asked after arriving beside him. He's covered his mouth holding back laughter when he saw me walking without heels. Not only Alif, the people at the bus stop gave me a strange look. Well, it's weird. But I ignored the mocking look. In fact, nothing is more important than personal safety, right?

I looked around. Ahead, the traffic light showed red. In the back row of the black sedan car was familiar to me.

I squinted.

Anymore, thats annoying and arrogant face. My eyes widened for a moment to see his presence there. The man was laughing in his car.

Umm ….

"What, do you know this man?" Alif looked at me confused. My gaze remained focused on the figure in the car, after looking at me for a moment he laughed again.

"Not!"

"But, he know you, Sister. How could he see you so long and laugh like that," He said again.

From earlier? I don't even focus too much on my surroundings so I don't know anything. So he laughed from now on.

The traffic light had turned green. Before long, the shadow of the black sedan car shot past, disappearing from view.

Alif patted my shoulder. Tells that the bus has arrived. My hand dragged by him. He ordered me sit on the edge chair, I said yes. We sat in the middle row. Alif is busy checking his bag. My gaze accidentally turned to his purse pocket.

"Beautiful."

"W-what, who's pretty?" There was a confused expression on the boy's face. I smiled ignorantly looking at him. His face turned unpleasant, as if he knew what I meant to stare at him like that.

"Nice key ring, who give it?"

"Buy it yourself," she replied in a low, contrived voice. I'm sure Alif is lying.

"Um …." I tapped my chin as thinking. From the side I saw Alif swallowed hard, his face looked tense.

If only it hadn't been in a crowded place, I would have laughed at him out loud. Luckily I still have my veins of shame, so I need to endure it until I get home later.

I looked at the boy's face for a moment then said,

"Later, when it's ready, you can tell the same story to me." I said softly to him as he scratched his back, which didn't itch, then nodded.

"Well, that's my younger brother!"

"What, I'm not a child. Don't touch it carelessly." Alif protested when I messed up his hair. He took my hand away from his head.

"You just getting older enough to say that. When still a kid's you just lay with me! Huh!"

I looked away, crossed my arms over my chest pretending to be annoyed.

"Its just past ....!" He snapped. He also joined in crossing his arms over his chest and then looked away.

The bus continued to drive through the city streets many vehicles passing by. My watch pointed  at 7:35 a.m. I leaned back on the chair. It feels comfortable. Alif still looked away. If i look closely like this, the shape of her face is very similar to Mother's, round and has nice lips. While my face like father’s from all sides, but just that my attitude more reflects to Mother. Dislikes being ruled and barbaric.

My phones shakes. I tucked my hand into my shirt pocket then shifted the pattern. An incoming message from an unsaved number. I knocked so I could read the whole message. No wind, no rain. I almost screamed in surprise.

[Break time, come to my room. If not, I’ll fired you.]

Down this message its stamped with Malik Mahendra name, it made me cover my mouth so I didn't scream carelessly. Alif shrugged at me

No!!!
