His Denounced Luna
His Denounced Luna
Author: Dora Theodore

Prologue.

"Diana." I hear his voice echoing in the open.

"Hold on, I'll pull you up, just don't look down," he begs me.

I swing left and right, my head spins as I dangle like a rope at the edge of a snowy mountain.

Right below me is an endless abyss of a hollow pit at the edge of the snowy cliff.

If Charles had been a second late…

I didn't want to think about it, especially when I'm still stuck in this situation, a little mistake is all it'll take to end my life.

I look into his eyes, Charles is sweating even in the cold as his grip on me tightens and he tries to pull me up.

'What about the wolves, did we lose all of them?'

There's so much to ask but now's not the time.

He takes in a lot of air, pumping his cheek as his arm muscles grow in size, and with one pull he flings me into the air and I tumble upon him.

I try to get up, but I don't have time to look back when I feel his arms around my waist as he pulls me into his arms, my head resting upon his chest as his grip almost has me running out of oxygen.

It's all because of me, he stayed to protect me.

"Are you...okay?" He asks.

With my head upon his chest, I nod, but then the drumming sound of his heartbeat loudly echoes from his chest, to think he was this worried for a human like myself.

Sniff~

Sniff~

There's an unpleasant smell coming from behind him.

I get up quickly and flip him, forcing him to lie on his stomach, but as my hand greases against his back, I feel something warm upon my fingertips.

This, it's blood.

He's injured and it's all my fault.

He didn't have to stay behind to fight me, but he did.

As I lament his injuries, I feel a push against my chest.

"Get behind me Diana," he orders.

"But Charles…"

"Now!" He yells.

Standing before me, he growls at the others, his eyes are frightening, this is the first time I've seen him get this angry and almost out of control.

It was so primal, very different from his easygoing persona.

Charles gets on all four, I watch his bones reconstruct echoing with a snapping sound, as the hairs on his body grow in length, his veins thumping as his teeth enlarge.

In a split second, he reverts into his wolf form.

His fur was as white as snow and he was bigger than the others, his size was intimidating enough to the others but not his opponents as they charged knowing he was injured.

The white snow is stained by drops of blood. His pure fur was by red coatings, he bled even in this form, the snow couldn't hide it.

Still, he charged forward, his head held up high, he growled exposing his pure white fangs ready to tear his opponents apart.

Our enemies circle us, all three of them, looking for an opening, but he keeps his guard up and steps closer to me to protect me.

"Don't panic Diana, I'll protect you."

I was his weakness all this time, and I knew it too well, this was bad.

The first wolf leapt in the air towards my direction but was caught before he could make his move.

Both of them rolled away and fell into the snow; the others saw it as an opportunity to strike and for a second Charles looked back in panic.

His opponent charges and sinks his fangs into his neck, "Charles!!!" I screamed.

He staggers for a while but steadies his paws as if nothing happened.

He seemed very sturdy. I keep up the admiration and thus, fail to notice the two who approach me with a furious look.

One especially looks ready to devour me the second he comes in contact with me.

"Ah." I close my eyes and scream and just then, I hear a howl.

It came from behind me. I spot a pack of angry wolves charging forward.

'is it our enemy?' I don't know, we stand a chance if they are.

So many thoughts are running through my mind and adrenaline pumping through my body.

They rush forward, racing towards the first pack of wolves, they wrestle and fight while I try to run.

I was in the middle of a war.

Wait for a second, where's Charles?

"Charles….

Charles….

Alpha?" I shout as I run through the hot zone.

A wolf approaches me, with fur similar to Charles', he's bleeding so it must be him.

He signals for us to leave and I follow him.

With every step I take, the pain from earlier becomes even more unbearable, and I whimper.

Charles stops all of a sudden and looks at me, he suddenly lays down on his back and beckons me.

He's telling me something.

He wants me to get on his back.

"But you've wounded Charles," I tell him, but he stubbornly remains on the ground. If we keep going back and forth, we could get caught.

That'll be disastrous besides, I'm freezing.

"Fine, fine. Just because it's an emergency." I gently get on his back, careful enough not to hurt him. He steadies his feet and starts running.

In twenty minutes we arrived at the gate.

Once they spot us, they quickly open the gates for us, the staff run to support us and Hailey pushes her way through.

"Diana. Are you alright?" She asked, hugging me tightly. I turned around and

Charles was already heading upstairs.

It seems like he wants to be alone right now.

"He ordered we take proper care of you. You're hurt. Let's get you inside. The doctor will be here in no time."

If I had just disappeared, then none of us would have had to suffer because of me.

It was all my fault.
