Prologue

The cold wind was like a slap to the cheek as I stepped out of the warmth of the car. I could feel the tiny ball of regret swirling in my stomach as he looked into my eyes and held out his hand for me.

What am I thinking? Ditching my date to go to a stupid high school party?

At this point, I don't even recognize myself.

If it wasn't for the sound of the pounding music you'd never know a party was going on here at this very moment. The louder the music got the more uneasy I felt.

As we enter the huge house we are instantly greeted by warmth but it came at a price. The strong scent of liquor wafted through the air like some sort of pollution.  I glanced at my phone checking the time, it was only 9 pm and some people were already drunk whilst others are on the verge.

Before I could process what was happening, a drink was placed in my hand and an argument started out of the blue between two unfamiliar girls.

I couldn't hear what they were saying because of the deafening sound of the music, soon there was finger-pointing closely followed by hair pulling, and then it escalated into a full-blown fight.

Everyone close to them started rooting and cheering for the girl they want to win. In the chaos, my hand slipped out of his and I got pushed in the opposite direction in which we were going. I tried peeping over to the crowd to see where he is but it's pointless as I keep getting pushed further away from the harder I try.

I decide to go with the crowd letting them take me in the direction they are going. I inevitably end up in one corner of the room where sta put waiting for the fight to end and I sipped the alcoholic beverage in my hand

When it eventually ends I begin my search for his unusual hair color. I wander around the too-large house in search of him to no avail. I don't know how much time has passed since we got separated so check my phone realizing it's been over an hour.

Giving up on my search I decided to explore what a high school party is really like since this was my first time attending one.

I decide to follow what most of the girls are doing which is dancing, I don't know why but my body started fee light and there's a weird tingle in my core.

Not knowing what else to do or where else to look. tried to sway my hips to beat like everyone else, the music wasted no time taking control of me. else tot dancing until I felt the adrenaline pulsing through my body. I soon started to sweat which was making me hot and bothered not to mention thirsty.

I left the dancing crowd to search for water and luckily I found the last one sitting in the kitchen unopened. As sip the cool liquid I instantly feel cooler. My mind started to clear up and the reason I'm here floated across my mind.

I know he brought me here because he wanted to talk and if he's ready to talk hell either call or come find me.

After sitting down for who knows how long I started to get bored so I decided to look for him first. As I searched for him the uneasy feeling came back and started to settle in my stomach.

I was just about ready to give up when I finally saw him, in an empty and dimly lit hall. I was about to call out his name when a slender arm reached out and slowly caresses his.

She slowly, seductively tips up to kiss him and I immediately recognize her.

"Wait." He says stopping her actions.

"Why?" She asks, her tone coming out offended.

"I like someone else."

"Who? Naomi?" She scoffs in disbelief, "you do know she has a boyfriend right?"

A million emotions started flowing through me and a thousand thoughts passed through my mind as I watched their lips inch closer. Everything around me slowed down as if time was coming to a halt.

When their lips finally touched, out of all the emotions only one was familiar.

Betrayal.
