The day had passed by all too quickly, but Jaida and Arius had both gone to bed incredibly early nonetheless. After all, Arius had just flown the entire way, having to stay awake through the night. He deserved a break for a change. So currently the two of them were asleep, both in rooms that were next to each other. Jaida's father's house was very different from her mother's. It was huge, probably as big as three of the city houses. There were three floors and a basement, and every single room was huge. Half the rooms were unnecessary since he lived alone, so there was no problem at all having Arius stay there. He had taken a room next to Jaida's, and when she had asked him why, he had refused to answer.
Jaida's father was obviously very trusting of strangers since he had left Arius to choose his own room in the first place. He had even let him sleep in the one next to Jaida's without so much as a question. And more to the point, his own r
Lucius began to lean down towards Jaida, and Arius felt the urge to try and hit him again. However, he refrained from doing so, knowing that the angel would only criticize him for it. That didn't mean he was going to stand by and watch though. He had to try and stop the angel."She's nothing to you, Lucius," stated Arius angrily. "Stop playing around and fight me!""Sorry, but I can't," he told the Deslyan, now only a few inches away from Jaida. "It's so much more fun…watching you suffer." And with that said, he disappeared completely, his transparent body falling into Jaida's."Lucius!" Arius called, but he received no response. He then remembered that he needed to keep his voice down a bit. Jaida's father was still home, and even though he slept on the lower floor, he wasn't deaf. Arius ran
Jaida felt tears building in her eyes. She didn't want to see him like this. Sure, he wasn't her best friend and maybe he was a bit cold and arrogant, but that didn't mean she didn't like him. That didn't mean she had wanted something like this to happen. The Deslyan didn't deserve such a horrible fate. He hadn't deserved to die like this. He hadn't deserved to die. "Do you like it?" asked a sickeningly smug voice from behind her. Jaida quickly wiped her tears away and turned around. She saw Lucius sitting casually on the remains of a building. He had a smirk on his face, his sky blue eyes focused solely on her. His snow white robes were splattered in crimson. The angel reeked of blood…of Arius' blood. "You…" began Jaida angrily, her eyes full of fire. "You monster! You did this?!" "I asked if you liked it," he reminded her. "Do you? I worked so hard on
Arius' eyes were starting to close, but he didn't want to fall asleep yet. He couldn't. He was afraid of waking up in the morning and finding that Jaida was dead. He had to make sure that she was alright before he allowed himself any form of rest. He wouldn't even shut his eyes for a second. He couldn't risk anything. If she died, there was no way he'd be able to break it to her parents. He wouldn't even be able to explain what had happened. If she died, his secret would be out. It was as simple as that. Arius jumped a bit when he felt Jaida move in his arms. He glanced down at her, watching as she turned into him a little. She had finally stopped trembling, and her breathing had returned to a normal pace. He could even make out a smile on her face."Thank you," she whispered in her sleep. "Arius." This time the Deslyan couldn't suppress it. He could feel the corners of his lips rising agai
It was already two days before Christmas, and Arius soon found out that this holiday was a big one. Everywhere they went they saw people flooding stores, pushing and shoving to pick up gifts, decorations, food, etc. It was mayhem. Pure and simple mayhem. It's not that he minded much. Crowds didn't bother him that badly, but he had to admit that he hated the eyes that followed him. It was a new city and a whole new flock of following stares. He noticed how most of them were once again women, some staring at him and talking with friends. Others gave Jaida a few jealous glares. This is pathetic… "Okay, just a few more stops," said Jaida's father with a bright smile. He was carrying most of the bags, but Arius had a decent amount in his hands too. Strangely enough, whenever Mr. Carlson had tried to hand Jaida a few bags, Arius had taken them from her. He seemed to still think of her as a weak little girl. It's not like she minded
Jaida smiled as she saw couples walking down the streets, some pausing under the mistletoe hung in stores just for an excuse to publicly display their affections. So far she had managed to avoid all of the holly like hangings. She figured that Arius didn't know what they were, therefore he had no reason to avoid them, so she was watching out for the both of them. She didn't want to get caught under it with anyone. Her father seemed to purposely try to get her under one, trying to get her to stand with Arius, but she was smarter than that. Her father wasn't going to get the best of her. As soon as she was home, she wouldn't have to worry about it. Until then, she had to make sure that she wasn't caught under any with Arius. Any other girl would probablytryto, but she knew better than that. Jaida's father reached their home first, and he ran into the house to start decorating. Arius and Jaida followed, Arius carrying abo
Arius shot a glare at Lucius, who only smirked back. He had enjoyed doing that. Arius didn't seem quite as thrilled as the angel. If those flames had hit Jaida head on, she could have been killed. He didn't want to even think about that possibility. He wouldn't let Lucius get a chance like that again. He was going to have to step this up a notch."I love fire, don't you?" began Lucius as two tendrils of fire began circling his arms. He knew exactly what he wanted to do with them. He quickly sent one towards Arius, even though he knew it wouldn't work. He then sent the next towards Jaida. As Arius' barrier dissolved the fire he had been sent, he quickly noticed the course of the other.Without thinking, he dove towards the ground, determined to reach Jaida first. He got there only seconds before it did, and the tendrils slammed into his barrier, dissolving on impact. That was the secon
"Merry Christmas!" Jaida shouted as she ran into Arius' room. She went to his window and threw open the shades, letting the light spread onto the dark walls. She heard him groan in protest as he pulled the sheets over his head, trying to block it out. Jaida only smiled and walked over to him. "Hey, get up!" she yelled cheerfully. "It's Christmas!" He only turned away more, wanting to sleep. He had been up for a long time last night, and it was only seven o'clock right now. This was supposed to be a vacation, meaning he deserved his sleep. "It's early," he told her, his voice muffled by the sheets. All that was left of him was the top of his head. "But it's Christmas, so get up," she told him with a smile. He sat up and shot her a deep glare, his eyes still a bit baggy from lack of sleep. His hair was messier than usual, and his clothing was wrinkled. De
Arius just stared at the money in his hands and then looked back up at Mr. Carlson. The man was still grinning from ear to ear. Arius knew he had the wrong idea about his and Jaida's relationship. Her father obviously thought that they were a couple, even though both of them would deny it to no end. They weren't even close, but no matter what either one said to deter him from his thoughts, the older man had his mind set. Arius just nodded in thanks and then made his way out of the kitchen and back up the stairs. Jaida was now in the living room, and she watched him curiously, wanting to know what he had been talking to her father about. She figured she'd ask him when he came back down, but he was taking forever. She had no idea what could take that long. A half an hour later, he walked back down the stairs, a black jacket accompanying his outfit. He had it pulled rather tight around himself, as i
