Chapter Seven

Noah's POV

The conference room was filled when I entered, my committee had arranged themselves according to their status and ranking, and they stood to welcome me and sat when I had taken my seat at the head of the table. Jasper was seated at my right and Caleb at my left.

"Good morning everyone, I've been away for a week for personal reasons but I'm fully back. I doubt if anyone else knows this so you gentlemen and ladies, " I nodded at two of my enforcers. " are the first to hear this good news. I have found my mate and she's here with me in our pack. I will be formally introducing her later so I want you all to treat her with the same respect that you give to me. She is now your Luna." I looked around the table, making eye contact with each person to make sure that they knew I meant business.

The room was silent for a minute, it seemed like they were too shocked by my words to go or say anything, then, someone said congratulations and soon everyone followed after.

"I see you've managed to resolve things with your mate." Jasper leaned close to me and whispered.

"I wish, it took a while to convince her to come with me but she's still hell-bent on leaving."

" Woah, I hope you gave her a pretty good reason for her to stay."

" Trust me, it's foolproof."

The meeting turned serious and I tried hard to focus but my mind kept flashing back to Storm. Her name fitted her perfectly, she could go from one to a hundred in minutes, I remembered the way her legs tightened around my waist and how soft her skin felt against mine. I groaned and adjusted myself in my seat.

"You okay?" Caleb asked. I shuffled in my seat and cleared my throat.

"I'm fine, just a little tired." They all turned to look at me in concern, fuck, they were probably wondering what was wrong with me.

"Should we end the meeting?" Jasper asked.

" No, I'm fine. Let's continue. Caleb, I want to see the reports on the meeting that was held with Aurora pack." Caleb started talking and I pushed the thoughts of Storm to the back of my mind and focused on what he was saying.

"Aurora pack asked for an alliance between the packs, it seems they've been having some issues with vampires lately and they want to team up with our pack since we are one of the strongest. They are offering a meeting between you and their alpha to discuss more about it." Vampires, just the taste of the word left a bitter residue in my mouth.

"So the vampires are back and they want to play ball with us, are they not aware that we can squash them in seconds? I don't see why Aurora pack is so nervous." As much as I detested vampires, they weren't really people we should be worried about, only a few covens were terrible and chaotic. The rest just avoided Lycans and werewolves.

"It seems it's not just any coven but Adrian's coven that is the cause of the new uproar," Caleb said, I banged my fist on the table and everyone jumped. Adrian Salvatore, there was no one, no vampire I hated more than him. I pushed back my chair and paced the room, running my hands through my hair.

"So Adrian is back, why now? He disappeared over a hundred years ago, so what pushed him to come back now?" I growled, clenching my fists, I was imagining them around Adrian's neck.

"Aurora pack doesn't know yet," Caleb answered.

The meeting soon came to an end and I left with Jasper and Caleb with me. I had warned them about the way to speak around Storm because I didn't want them setting her off. The house was quiet when we arrived but I knew she was inside, I stepped in and called out for her.

"Storm, I'm back. Where are you?" The sound of her heavy footsteps came from the stairs and soon she was down, she rushed to me, ignoring the others.

"What does Alpha mean? Does it mean the same thing it does to werewolves? How are you an Alpha? Please tell me you're not an Alpha?" She rambled holding onto my shirt tightly. I could see the clear panic in her eyes, she must have been thinking about it all morning.

"My rainstorm, you need to calm down. You're about to go off like an explosive device. Why don't you calm down and I'll get you a cup of water. You can tell me all about your day, how are you enjoying the house? " I said softly and caressed her cheek, carefully changing the subject. It was obvious that the term alpha was traumatic to her. It was almost as if someone, maybe an Alpha had hurt her. I knew it would be better not to talk about it yet.

The fire refused to dull in her eyes. " Don't try to change the topic, I'm not stupid. What does Alpha mean to Lycans and why are you on? Do not mess with me." She tightened her grip on my shirt and bared her canines at me. Damn girl, if it under different circumstances, this would have been the perfect time to grab her and take her against the wall.

"Okay, fine, I'm sorry, I'll explain. Alpha means the same thing it does to werewolves. We're a stronger breed of lycans, we're the leaders of the pack and we make the rules that our people follow." I said, her grip loosened on me and she staggered backward. I quickly moved to hold her before she could fall.

Storm brushed my hands away and sat at a chair far away from where the rest of us stood, deep in thought. I wanted to ask her what was wrong but I knew she would not tell me anything.

She took in a deep breath and let it out then looked up at us with a big cheery smile on her face.

"Hi there, sorry I didn't see you guys. I have a flair for dramatics. I'm Storm." She ignored my concerned looks and focused completely on Caleb and Jasper. She stretched her hand out and they shook it one after the other.

"Jasper, I'm the Delta of this pack." He muttered, Jasper was not a fan of new people, he was a loner and rarely associated unless he was forced to, which was probably the main reason he hadn't found his mate yet.

"Caleb at your service, beautiful. I'm one of the betas of the pack, I'm the more handsome and funnier beta. If you need anything and I mean anything, I'm the guy to call. " He took her hand and placed a light kiss on the back of the palm, causing Storm to giggle. I growled at him and he quickly dropped her hand and gave me a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his neck. I narrowed my eyes at him, it was enough to let him know I was pissed.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Jasper. Caleb, I'll definitely be taking you up on your offer. I have some questions though. What's a Delta, I've never heard about them and why does the pack have more than one beta?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"A Delta is the next in command after the Alpha."

" Isn't that the beta?" She interjected.

" Not in a lycan pack, we have a Delta then two betas to assist him."

" Any gammas?" She asked.

" None," Jasper answered. She seemed a little bit confused but was starting to get the hang of the pack dynamics.

"So the hierarchy is Alpha, Delta, two Betas, but no Gamma. It seems easy to understand and remember." She nodded her head as she spoke.

" Yes, it is. If you need anything, and I'm not available. You should ask Jasper and as much as it pains me to say this, Caleb. They will help you." I send another glare to Caleb who replied with a grin.

"Thank you. Would you guys like to stay for dinner? I was just about to cook something." She asked, glancing at the clock.

" Sur…" Caleb started but I cut him off, I didn't want them spending time with her anymore.

"No, they don't. Jasper, you have to check out the Andrews and Tates and find out what's causing their quarrel. Caleb, send a reply to the Aurora pack, that we agree to forming an alliance but we'll need to discuss more on our terms." My voice was stoic as I delegated duties to them.

"Yes, Alpha."

"You've got it.". They immediately left the house and we were alone. The air changed and I could see her becoming uncomfortable with her my presence.

"I'll go take a shower. I'll be down soon to help you prepare dinner." I said.

Storm quickly shook her head. " There's no need. Take your time in the shower, I can make dinner alone."

" Nonsense, I want to help you. I'll be back soon." I leaned in to kiss her lips but she turned her head and my lips landed on her cheek. I didn't let it stop me though. I traced light kisses from her cheek down to her neck where my mark was. I nibbled at the mark and chuckled when she gasped and moaned. It didn't last long though because she pushed me away.

"Stop it." Her face was fiery red and she was breathing heavily. I smiled satisfied and left the living room with a shit-eating grin on my face
