Chapter 14: Unexpectedly

Lily sat in a café, sipping her iced coffee absently.

Matthew was still at home, sleeping. She knew that he would be nursing his hangover as soon as he woke up, so she left him a glass of water and some painkillers for him to take on the nightstand. She felt sorry seeing him this way, and her own feelings of sympathy were eating at her slowly, so she knew she had to make a decision that would break her heart either way.

Because she had a feeling that if she didn’t do this, then she would regret it forever.

When the tiny bell rang once, indicating the arrival of a new customer, Lily raised her head to look at the doors to see who was coming inside.

Allison Whitney came in through the doors, her ash-brown hair raised into a messy bun and her skin almost as white as sheet. There were noticeable dark circles under her eyes even from afar, indicating her lack of sleep. Even her body looked so frail, she looked like the wind could sweep her off her feet any second, quite literally.
