His father made his way to the door and he too, surprise-filled his eyes when he saw the boy at the door. Fay just stood there looking at them, he was so nervous that he could hear the fast beating of his heart. His parents finally made way for him to come inside and he did. They instructed him to go and freshen up. He went into his room and took a long warm bath. He finally came out of the bathroom after a long while and when he walked to his wardrobe which stood in a corner of the room, his clothes were packed into his bag and kept inside, probably waiting for him.
He wore a shirt and a pair of trousers and he went outside the room and he walked to the kitchen. His parents were nowhere near the living room when he got there and when he got to the kitchen, there were leftovers in the pot and he ate them. He ate silently and his parents came out of their room when he was still eating and they sat at the dining table. He finished eating in the kitchen and washed the dishes, when he finally came out of the kitchen, his parents called him over to the dining table. He sat down on the opposite side of the table where they sat, the room was silent for a long time and his father finally cleared his throat.
"Fay." His father called out.
"Yes, dad." He replied.
"What was that?" His father asked.
He knew what the man was referring to. His wolf.
"His name is Hank." He replied to his father.
He looked at his face to see if the man believed him but there was no sign of emotions. He looked at his mother but her eyes were just full of fright.
"Whose name is Hank?" His father asked.
"My wolf." He replied.
The room went silent again and the only sound heard was his mother's silent sobs.
"Mom, Dad. I am a werewolf. Yes, they exist. I don't know how but I am a werewolf dad. I have always wanted to tell you and seek answers from you but I have always been scared." He explained.
His voice was shaky and he was breaking down, he wanted to cry but he knew it wasn't the right place for it. None of his parents spoke again.
"We do not have the answers you seek Fay." His father broke the silence.
He did not say anything. He did not have anything to say.
"We are not your biological parents Fay." His father spoke again.
He went silent. He was taken aback. Tears filled his eyes and he could not hold them in anymore and they fell down her cheeks. His mother was crying too, loudly.
"What do you mean?" He asked his father.
He was flabbergasted and confused.
"I mean, your mother and I are not your real parents." The man repeated.
His father did not say anything else and he stood up, he helped his mother stand up too and together they headed to their room. He sat there for a while and laid his head on the table, he was still dealing with the fact that he was a werewolf among humans and then with this new discovery, he was totally confused. He wondered who his real parents were and why he was not with them, he wondered how he came to be with the people he called parents. He needed answers and while he sat there, he got none. He rose from the chair and went to his room, he sat on the bed to think but he could not, his head would not stop banging. He held his hair and pulled it a little. He fell back on the bed and cried a flood of tears. He could not sleep all through the night, he just could not.
The following days of his stay were different. His parents behaved differently towards him like he was a stranger. His mother stopped going to the market stall with him, they stopped eating together as a family. His once-happy family was torn apart. He did not look for his biological parents, not that he did not want to, he did not know where to start. But he did not stop running in the woods either, his mother had stopped checking in on him. There was a time she came to check but she apologized for doing so immediately. He always went out to run in the woods on nights when he felt depressed or downcast, he did not need to sneak out anymore, his father had made it clear that he did not have to sneak out to go to the woods so he any time he felt like running, he would just go out casually.
It was during this night's run in the woods that Fay met him. That night had the usual black sky, the moon shining brightly down the earth and the night was peaceful. The night was too serene and the moonlight shined too bright for him to resist running. He stood up from the bed and quickly wore a shirt and trousers and headed out. It was a cold night and he walked slowly to the woods. When he got there, he released Hank. He transformed and the wolf stood black and tall, his dark eyes shined with the moonlight, his black fur, a deep and beautiful shade of black. The wolf howled loudly and took off running. The woods looked brighter with the moonlight and the wolf could see better, the wind felt cold and sharp on his face as he ran and he was enjoying the run.
He ran deep into the woods, deeper than he had ever run and that was when he saw him. The big black, blue-eyed wolf. They were running towards each other and they stopped in their tracks when they saw each other, staring at each other. Hank felt a tingle of excitement in his body, he had seen someone like him for the first time and he was extremely excited.
The big wolf started walking towards him, gently. He knew he should not be overly excited, he needed to be alert and he was. He too started walking towards the wolf, slowly. They walked towards each other for a while and when they got closer to each other, they stared intensively at each other, Hank was looking into Wolf's blue eyes and the wolf was looking into his dark ones. It was like a staring competition and it was intense.
They walked past each other and turned around again to look at each other and the wolf growled at Hank, intimidatingly. Hank squinted his eyes at the wolf and growled back at it, even louder and more intimidatingly. The wolf kicked off running again, to the way Fay came. Fay turned around to the way the wolf came.
"Coward," Fay muttered.
He kicked off running too and ran harder. Hank ran till he got too far, he could get lost if he continues like this. He turned around again and started running back towards where he came from, back to the entrance of the woods. He got to the exact spot where he met the wolf and looked around, to make sure the black wolf was not around. He was not and Hank ran again. He had not far from where he had met the wolf when he saw him again, walking. Hank stopped running and started walking too. They walked till they got close to each other and again, they stared into each other's eyes. They passed each other and the blue-eyed wolf kicked off running again, making Hank wonder if he was walking just to meet him.
He ran all the way back to the entrance of the woods and transformed. Fay looked back towards the woods as if to see the wolf again. He headed out of the woods and started walking on the lonely path leading to his house. As he walked on the lonely road with his hands in his trouser pocket and head buried down, he wondered who that black wolf was and where he came from. It was his first time seeing a wolf like himself and he was intrigued. He was deep in thought and when he reached home, he opened the door and went inside and locked it behind him. It was still far from dawn and his parents were not awake yet. He went up to his room and when he took off his clothes, he lay on the bed. He closed his eyes to sleep but he remembered the blue eyes of that black wolf, it was his first time seeing such blue eyes. They were a deeper shade of blue and strangely, he liked them. He found them unique. He struggled to go to sleep, he concluded within himself that he was going to go running the next night again and he was going to talk to the wolf if he saw him again. With that in mind, Fay peacefully went to sleep.

……..
When he woke up the next day, his parent's awkward and uncomfortable behaviour did not bother him anymore, what he wanted was to be with him.The black big wolf. He wanted to be with him and ask him questions, to ask if he was real, to ask if any of what was happening was real. He had a thousand and one questions to ask but for now, he had to wait. Wait for the dark clouds to come, wait for the full moon to shine its brightness down the earth, wait for the night to be dead and hope he would come again. He went to his mother's little stall in the market when he was done with his house chores, to pass the time. She did not look good. She looked weak, tired and afraid. Afraid of him and he knew it. Sales were made and by the time they got home, it was evening. The sun was setting and it already had an orange colour, giving the earth habitants a beautiful view to look at. His mother went into the kitchen as soon as they arrived and he went to his room, he did not have anything to do t
The sharp wind pierced through his clothes and caught his skin when he stood at the entrance of the thick woods. He looked into it and sighed deeply, he had concluded that it will be the last time he would go looking for the wolf and after that night, he would still continue to come to the woods but not for the wolf but for his run. He closed his dark eyes and released Hank. The wolf stood at the entrance of the woods, big, black and tall. His dark eyes shone in the dark and he howled. A loud howl of frustration. Then he jumped into the woods, running. He ran fast and hard, silently hoping to see the wolf again. Even if it was the last time. When he strained his ear, he heard it. It was far off and it came in a slow and low wave. The sound of a big wolf's feet meeting the dry leaves and twigs. Hank halted immediately and looked at the direction where the wave was coming from, it was the direction where he came from the other day. Hank could feel his heart beating rapidly, what if it w
Hank ran as fast and hard as he could but the boy was a beast. The blue-eyed wolf ran with expertise and experience, fast. After a long time of chasing Jake, Hank finally stopped, shaken and tired. He had never run that way in his life. The blue-eyed wolf noticed he had stopped and he halted too, he walked back to where Hank stood."So weak." The blue-eyed wolf scoffed.Hank heard him and he growled at the wolf and the wolf growled back. Hank wanted to pounce on the wolf, to scratch and bite and give him wounds but he could not. He was too tired. They transformed back to their human forms after a while. Fay was gasping for air when he transformed, his lungs burned with fatigue and his throat felt patched, he needed water. He sat tiredly on the ground, the dry leaves and twigs made a loud noise when his butt sat on them. He looked up at the boy, Jake. He stood there, tirelessly and looking down at Fay. He still looked energetic even after that hectic run. He took his eyes off the boy a
His room, a spacious large room with an equally large bed, a table and a chair sat at the corner of the room and two doors stood at the other side, one door for the bathroom and the other for the closet, a large window stood at the wall, facing the bed. He got into the room and fell on the bed. He was still wearing the trouser and long-sleeved shirt he was wearing, he was too tired to take them off. His eyes became heavy in no time and he did not fight the sleep that engulfed him. When he woke up later in the day, he sat on his bed, his face in his palms and he remembered the black-eyed wolf, Fay. He made a mental note to ask Mr Jones about Fay later in the day during his lessons. He stood up from the bed and looked at the clock that hung on the wall, at 2:54 PM. It was almost time for his lesson and practice. He walked into the closet to take off his clothes, and he did. He walked out of the closet and into the bathroom to freshen up. When he was done getting ready, he wore black tr
*** JAKE'S P.O.V ***When his wolf arrived in the woods, there was dead silence. He wondered if the black eyes boy had even come. But he promised to come, humans uphold promises and kept them. The boy was not a human but he had lived with them for a long time to be like them. He sniffed the air and he could perceive him, not his wolf, him. His wolf knew the boy was there and he ran as fast as he could to their usual spot. When he got there, he saw him. Sitting on a tree stump with his face in his palms, deep asleep he could not even hear Jake approach. He wondered why the boy was out in the woods sleeping, he was supposed to be running. His wolf transformed and Jake walked up to where he was sitting and reached out to tap his shoulder. When he did, the boy jerked up."Hey," Jake said.____________________________Fay's eyes darted around the woods for a while, his dark eyes still looked sleepy and when he grasped the idea that he was still in the woods, he sighed deeply and then looke
His mouth hung open, he did not know what to say. He could feel his heart squeeze and a tear threatening to fall but he wiped it off with his hand."So no work today?" He asked, his voice shaky."No. It's my day off." His father answered."Do I'll just... I'll just head out." He said and turned around."Shut the door behind you." His father said.He did. He shut the door behind him and left for the kitchen. His mother was standing over the pot that content was boiling on the burner. She had a wooden spoon in her hand and her hair was tied behind her. He walked over to where she was standing, and the smell of pasta rushed into his nostrils."Hey, Mom." He said. She did not say anything. He could see her tense up, in fear. The sweat that suddenly covered her face made Fay wonder if it was because of his presence or if was it because of the heat of the cooking."I was wondering if I could go somewhere. I will only take a day or two. It's really just important." He asked permission."Do w
When Fay went into the room, he gasped. He had never seen a room so big. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely large. The chair and table that sat at the corner of the room looked expensive. Fay looked at the two doors in the room and wondered what they were for. There was no wardrobe in the room and he wondered where he would keep his backpack. Jake turned around to face him."Welcome home," Jake said, excitedly."Thanks. Where can I keep this?" Fay asked, pointing at the backpack.Jake took it from him and went into one of the doors. Fay wondered if that would be his room. When Jake came out of the room, he went straight to bed and told Fay to lie on the bed and sleep. Fay looked at the bed, then at Jake. He had never shared a room with anyone, not even a bed. But the bed was big. They would fit.Fay went to the bed and lay on it. He gasped silently. The bed was soft, extremely soft. He got comfortable as quickly as he can and when his eyes got heavy, he did not fight the
His blue eyes danced around and his little pink thin lips curved up in a smile. He walked to where Fay stood and stood before the boy, he was taller and he looked down at him. The man's lips still curved up in a smile so Fay knew he did nothing wrong."What is your name young werewolf?" The man asked. His voice sounded so deep and coarse. Like a filled bag dragging on a heap of stones. Fay looked back at his friend, Jake had a smile on his face and when their eyes met, the boy nodded his head slowly. Fay turned back to the older version of Jake."Fay... My name is Fay." Fay responded."Well Fay, that was an excellent performance. Were you taking sword practice back at the human race?" The man asked.Fay shook his head."No, kind Sir," Fay responded. The man stretched his hand to Fay and the boy took it. Even though he had big palms, bigger than Jake's, his palm felt little in the palm of this man."I am Klein. The father of Jake and Zoe. Ruler of this mighty pack. Why don't we talk o
