As I slowly came awake, the first thing I could feel was the pain that emanated from my stomach. It was an excruciating one, gnawing at my consciousness even as I struggled to match the voices of the people talking to me. My eyes opened bit by bit, the world around me still blurry, voices distant and muffled as if coming from underwater.

"Lily, can you hear me?" A voice pierced through the fog in my mind, bringing me closer to awareness.

I blinked, trying to focus on the figure hovering over me. It was Monica, her face etched with concern.

"Monica?" I croaked, my throat dry and scratchy.

"Yeah, it's me," she replied, relief evident in her voice. "You had us worried there for a moment."

I groaned, trying to sit up but halted by a sharp pain shooting through my abdomen. "What... what happened?" I managed to ask, confusion clouding my thoughts.

"You were attacked just in front of the house ," Emma explained, her brows furrowed. "We had to rush you to the hospital."
