Cornelius POV
"Oh come on Niks, I think I'll have to sit this one out. I don't do well with rich snobby folks," I complained taking another lane as the green traffic light changed to amber.
"Do you hear yourself right now?"
"You know what I mean, Niks. I won't fit in"
"Cornelius Powers you better attend my show or else..."
"Niks? Krrrrrkrrrrr. Niks. I'm losing you...I can't hear you krrrrrkrrrrrkrr"
And I hung up, I'm sure Nicole would get the message eventually. Attending my cousin's show all the way in Vegas wasn't in my agenda. After we laid dad to rest,I wanted to be far way from my family as possible. With dad gone, I knew very well that they would try to console me, try to make me feel alright when nothing was alright to begin with.
I needed space. I needed time to process that the man I had tried so hard to impress was gone. I needed time to process that I was on my own from now on.
It was me and me alone.
I took the lane down Mane Street thinking of it as the fastest way to get to my company by avoiding traffic. The drive was smooth, I knew that within half an hour I would be back at my office swinging in my swivel chair as Bosco laid down the agenda for the day.
But...but I spoke too soon.
Infront of me was a black SUV, with the owner kicking one of the rear tyres with her sharp five inch heel. I contemplated whether I would stop to help or drive away just like the rest of the cars did. Come to think of it, why would I help a woman who smashed my balls not once but twice?! She smashed my balls twice. Twice I tell you!
One with her foot at a Met Gala and the other one she actually smashed my balls with a baseball bat inside my office during an interview. Just the mere thought of those two occurrences made me shudder. Or how about the time she splashed vodka on my face, my eyes stung like the Dickens!
By the time I was done thinking about that, I had already stopped my car observing the woman in the navy blue skirt and polka dot blouse. The face might have covered her devil face but I knew her. Lydia Hayden was a monster in the making. The devil's daughter. Satan's little helper. The reincarnation of Beelzebul inform of a woman.
And no I was not being spiteful but honest. I understand we had a rocky start, she found me pleasuring her boyfriend but so what? That's why the phrase 'forgive and forget' was introduced right? You just forgive and then forget. But she...she had never forgiven me and it's been two freaking years already.
Sighing I got out of my car.
'I am so gonna regret this'
Putting up my fakest smile I approached her from behind.
"Ms, do you need any help?"
She turned to me, her eyes that were earlier gleaming with worry filled with unbelievable fury.
"You? I don't need your help!" she said coldly and I bent down examining her flat tyre.
"You've got a flat tyre,"I said casually ignoring her icy eyes.
"Look at me,"she started and I stared,"Am I missing an eye? Or better yet am I missing both eyes? Do I look like Blind Bartimaeus to you? If you came to state the obvious then you can leave"
And here we go again.
"So you do need help?" I asked trying to calm myself down.
"I do I really do but if it's coming for you, I better wait for Jerry to show up"
Oh brother. This was what I was talking about. The woman was so bitter, so cold that even breathing the same air she was, made me contagious of her bitterness.
I scrunched my nose in disgust walking away from her.
"When your car gets fixed you better visit the candy store. You'll need a whole bucket of candy to fix your bitter personality. It's not a insult sweetheart, take it as a piece of advice" And with that I walked away.
Well at least I tried before she blocked my path.
"Excuse me! You...you piece of..." She stopped her eyes catching glimpse of something behind me.
"Oh my God. Umm... kiss me! Kiss me now" she squeaked.
Umm... Was that an insult? Why was her hands on my neck? Why was she getting closer to my body that I could smell her Lavender perfume?
"Are you bipolar or something. Back up. There's no way in hell I'm kissing you"
"Believe you me I'm not thrilled with this either,"she said and before I could protest further her lips smashed mine.
My eyes bulged out in surprise, my lips tried to part from hers but she held me captive to whatever wormhole she was pulling me into. I was kissing Lydia Hayden. I was kissing Lydia Hayden? Technically she was kissing me.
"Dia, is that you Dia?"
And she parted from our kiss, leaving a confused me to stand next to her.
"Bob, I didn't know you were in town" she smiled but that statement was so fake that even this Bob guy must have known.
The guy Bob didn't seem like much but I could see it in his face that seeing me with her must have cut him deep.
"Well. It's LA who doesn't like LA?" He gushed and the woman next to me smiled clinging to my biceps.
Was I missing something?
"Ooh, I almost forgot this is Justin. Justin- Robert Sanders. Robert - Justin"
I had a question, who was Justin? And why was she gesturing towards me everytime she said Justin?
Lydia's POV"Oh my God! You did what? Dia you didn't think things through!"Yeah as if I hadn't noticed that."Gee Jessica I hadn't realized that I had introduced my enemy as my boyfriend to my highschool sweetheart just to show how happy I am when infact I am not since Justin left me because of the guy I introduced as my boyfriend to my highschool sweetheart!"I shouted pacing across the living room in my apartment. Jessica wasn't helping at all. Come to think of it, I think the only reason she came to my apartment was to get comfy on my bean bag chair. And Oggie. My sweet golden retriever didn't make it any better with the barking."So what did you do? I mean what did Cornelius say?"She asked and it was hard to say. Partly because I felt a little perched and secondly because I did not what to remember what it felt like to kiss him. What type of mouth wash
Cornelius' POVGrabbing her shoulders, I made her kneel before me, my fingers tracing her plump red lips.I couldn't compare her to Suzy but ooh well beggars can't be choosers. With her fingers grazing my area, she reached for the zip while I got comfortable on my swivel chair as she started to work her magic. Before she could get to my briefs, someone barged in my office surprising not only me but my secretary."Yuck! I'm sorry, I didn't know. Oh God, that image is forever engraved in my mind!" she shouted."It's okay Liv. We'll continue this later," I spanked her ass watching her shyly get out of my office.Standing up and zipping my pants, I plopped in the seat behind my chair crossing my fingers with a smirk."To what do I owe the pleasure?" I smirked.Lydia uncovering her eyes making sure that Liv was gone and I had my pants on, welcomed her
Lydia's POV"Things can't possibly get worse," I sighed sipping my coffee.Twenty minutes, that's how long I was at Starbucks asking myself if my parents were to show up and ask me about Justin what would I do? Tell them that after we broke up he moved miles and miles away from me to Connecticut? The number one reason why I didn't want to tell them about my breakup was because deep down I loved Justin and I was worried for him.My dad, Harrison Hayden was a former commander in the army, now him finding out that a man cheated on me would lead to that man either behind bars or dead. And I'm serious when I say dead. I still remember 2002 Texas when Robert Sanders asked me out to prom. Dad almost shot him but due to Robert standing his ground he eventually accepted Bob as the right guy for me which to this day he thinks I will miraculously end up with him.Now back to Justin. I didn't want dad to track him down, break
Cornelius' POV"You think money makes the world go round. Listen here Mr Powers I don't need your money nor will I ever be as low enough as to take money from you", she spat crossing her legs and getting comfortable on the ridiculous bean bag in her living room.It was at times like this that I wondered how a beautiful blond such as herself had a feisty and foul personality. Sure she didn't need my money but her apartment said otherwise. But I couldn't miss my target. Those documents in her phone were pretty legit. They were copies of invoices, delivery notes, cheques that Mafioso personally handed to me which made me know that we had a mole in my company either that or Lydia Hayden was a good reporter who outdid herself in scooping some dirt about me."Then name your price""I already named my price, Mr Powers. You agree to be Justin only when my parents are here and I'll not only forgive you but gu
LydiaWeekends meant everything for me. A time to shop for microwaved dinners, a time to stalk my ex on Instagram, a time to walk Oggie in the park, a time to sit back relax on the couch and stress eat over how much ugly I was becoming and how I would die lonely with Oggie's graveyard right beside me but this weekend turned out to be a nightmare. It was only noon yet I felt that with so much chaos going on the day was at its peak. To start with, my parents who surprisingly decided to stay in LA at my uncle's place for a month wanted to get to know 'Justin better'. My mom seemed sincere but dad?He was still the same man who chased my suitors from our home with a rifle and the way this was going I think both the fake Justin and the real Justin would be killed by him. Now to start off, when I told Cornelius to wear a disguise so that he wouldn't be recognized as the famous billionaire Powers, I didn't expect him to show up with a fake stubble (claiming he ha
CorneliusBabe. Babe. Babe.Calling Lydia Hayden that for the past couple of hours was torturing. Starting my Jaguar which I'd parked a mile away from the cheap restaurant we were in, I took the box on my passengers seat carefully removing my three piece suit.Within few minutes I was able to get into my formal wear getting rid of the stubble that almost came out with my skin.My phone buzzed and I checked the caller ID."Chance, I'm on my way. Got delayed but I'm on my way""Aunt Vicky is here, man" Shoot!"What is she doing in my office? Come up with something that will make her go home ,"I said but the silence that had gone for about two minutes confirmed my fear."She's in my office isn't she and lemme guess you have your phone on speaker again don't you?""Unfortunately...yes and my phone's on speaker"And I hung up. What would be better than my wonderful aunt visiting my office on this fine day? The last thing I needed was to listen to her lectures. The ones that I never seemed t
LydiaI had spent almost half an hour going through the documents in my computer. As a safety precaution I had both files on my computer and on the flash drive. Who else was Mafioso working with? Closing my laptop I let out a sigh puting my hair up in a loose bun. I looked over to see Oggie calmly sleeping on my bean bag. And my dad questioned the essence of having a beanbag, ha! It came handy at times like these.Hardly had I checked my windows for the third time when someone knocked on the door. Who in the hell visits anyone at almost midnight? Ok maybe strippers? Not that I had any grudges with them, but I had read once in a magazine, that s*x, the hottest funkiest sex happened at midnight. Now that I thought about it, would a male stripper really be knocking on my door? Why mine? It's not like he could smell my virginity from a mile away.Amazing how my brain would make up silly things when I felt sleepy!Slapping my forehead slightly, I went to the door t
CorneliusI awoke to the light that hit my eyes without warning.Who drew the curtains?Lifting my head slightly, I felt a sharp pain pierce my head. Great! A freaking hangover. I barely remember what happened yesterday and normally when I drink too much there's always a naked woman lying beside me. Turning around and sitting up, I tried to take in my surroundings.Purple sheets? A vanity table? Closet? Woolen rag? A familiar scent of lavender? Where was I? I turned to the nightstand, a picture frame greeting me. Was that? Lydia Hayden and her dog?I didn't. No. Calmly standing up, I moved around searching for things like my phone. I slept on her bed? With my clothes on? Then where did she sleep? Seeing my Italian loafers on the farthest corner of her room, I put them on taking my wallet on the nightstand. One word for this morning. I was confused. I had left Lydia's place two hours ago, went to my penthouse took a long shower an
