Her Past

Bree’s blood ran cold as she stared at the chest of the person whose hand was around her waist tightly. That cologne. The scent, she knew it so well. She could recognize the scent from anywhere. It couldn't be him. Her heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to catch her breath. It was just his cologne not him.

Her eyes raised to look at the man so close to her that she felt suffocated and the moment their eyes met, she felt her heart thumping out of her chest and her mouth fell open in disbelief. Time seemed to stand still. Their eyes locked, shock evident in their faces.

The moment lingered. Her hands clutched the fabric of his suit as if anchoring herself to something tangible. He stood there, so close to her that she could feel the warmth of his breath on her face and the way his hand tightened the more around her waist.
