CHAPTER TWO
'Traitor wolf'I woke up the next morning, the sun rays hitting my exposed skin. I stretched as my eyes fluttered open, my body was still tingling from the previous night's activities. I still felt his touch, his lips, his kisses. They were etched in my skin.I sat up and looked around, I found myself in the same spot that I had spent the night. But there was no sign of my mate. I couldn’t feel his presence or his scent. He was gone leaving me all alone.I stood and padded over to the edge of the lake. My wolf growled as she watched the water. She sniffed it carefully, trying to pick up his scent. But there was nothing, no scent whatsoever, it was as though he was a ghost. I began walking back to my pack. As I walked down the narrow path that led to my home, I couldn’t stop thinking of my mate. Why did he leave me? Did he not want me anymore?I had so many questions and zero answers. I didn’t even know his name or which pack he belonged to. All I knew was how he made me feel. How he made me feel so alive, so desired, so loved. How he had wrapped me in his strong arms and kissed me in ways I never knew could be possible. I wanted more of that. More of his naked body hovering over me, more of his kisses, his caresses.I arrived home to find my mother cooking her favorite dish, venison. The aroma filled the house causing my wolf to whine with delight. I didn't even wait for my mother to place it on the table before I dug in, devouring every bite in my mouth."So how was last night?" My mother asked, giving her a little wink. "Did you find your mate?"I almost choked on the food as my ears burned with embarrassment. Why did she have to bring that up? Especially during breakfast. I tried to cover my red ears with my hands but mother wasn’t fooled, as she continued laughing. My mother was a bit nosy.I just rolled my eyes at her, mother was always a tease."You're impossible ma."She merely smiled at me in reply as she placed her empty plate in the sink."But I really want to know if my baby girl is happy," she said as she started washing the dishes.I sighed heavily and rubbed my temples before telling her what happened with the stranger. I told her about his scent, his eyes, his smile. About how I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I was even about to tell her how he had disappeared this morning when I heard a loud howl. My wolf jumped at the sound. It was the howl of our Alpha, Lucien Malfoy. The evil brute that pretended to be a saint. Lucien was actually the previous Alpha's beta but he challenged his Alpha's authority for the pack in a conclave to the death and he won. Well that happened before I was even born.Lucien had tried several advances towards me but I never told anyone that, well except from my mother and my best friend Tasha and whenever I refused him he always looked for ways to punish me. I could never understand it but my mother seemed to have a much deeper hatred for the alpha, whenever I tried to ask her she never told me anything, but i knew that there was a deeper history between both of them."What's that?" I asked looking up at my mother who had worry in her eyes."A pack meeting and I don't think it's good news," mother replied frowning, she looked extremely worried and it got me terrified.I nodded as I ran upstairs to change into a more appropriate dress before heading out to the town hall with my mother. As soon as I got there I was greeted by two wolves I recognised. One of them was my friend Tasha. She was nineteen, but a Beta and the pack's best warrior. She still hasn't found her mate, and honestly Tasha wasn't the least excited about meeting him. Tasha was headstrong and wasn't really interested in the thought of finding a mate. The other werewolf, whose name was Jekyll, I wasn't really a fan of. He was the Alpha's delta, a horrible one at that. He was a perverted, proud, cocky, rude and an arrogant jerk. He seemed to take everything that was thrown at him as some sort of personal attack, misusing his power as delta. My wolf didn’t seem too pleased at him either, simply put a man like Jekyll was a waste to humanity.Jekyll grinned at me as soon as I stepped inside of the room. He bowed his head low and said something that sounded like "I bet she's the one." I looked at him puzzled. What the hell did he mean by that? Before I could say a word, the meeting had begun and I had to find somewhere to sit."Alright," Alpha Lucien said as he walked in. "I hope everyone has settled in. We've received an urgent message from the Elders.""An urgent message? What could possibly be wrong!" someone yelled loudly from the audience."Shut up, Kail!" the Alpha growled as he shot the guy with an unamused look. The whole crowd quietened instantly as the tension in the room grew. They were right to be worried, the elders were seen almost as gods in the werewolf world. They were the strongest and oldest werewolves alive. There were five elders as we were taught in werewolf school, the elders never really interfere with trivial werewolf affairs so it was unusual getting an urgent message from them. Whatever it was couldn't be good.Everyone was waiting for the Alpha to finish his statement. They were all worried about whatever it was that the Elders might have called them here for. If the elders got involved it had to be very serious."Last night,” the Alpha began to speak again. "We realized that a member of the Midnight Pack entered our territory and mated with one of ours.”The crowd gasped and restless murmuring soon filled the room as fear was evident in everyone's faces. The Midnight Pack was a group of rogues which caused havoc and chaos amongst the packs in the forest. The midnight pack was an ancient myth we were taught to fear. They were known to be ruthless, cruel and bloodthirsty. They preyed on every living creature in the forest. No matter if that living creature was human or wolf. They killed everything they saw as if it was nothing. Their leader, Alpha Kaden was known to be the worst of the lot. A beast. A savage monster. He conquered packs, slaughtering everyone in it.I remembered hearing rumors that he was responsible for the death of many innocent wolves. Many werewolves would go missing in the forests and pack borders after being attacked. There were stories of how he and his pack raided homes, killing all that dared to stand in his way, taking everything that he needed. No matter who the opposition may have been. If they didn't surrender, then Kaden slaughtered them."Who would do such an atrocity?" a red haired wolf yelled out furiously."The wolf should be sentenced to death. The pack must fight this traitor wolf. We must rid this land of her foul presence," another yelled out. I personally thought that death was a bit too extreme, it wasn't like it was the wolf's fault."Silence!!!" The Alpha bellowed out. "We don't know who the wolf is yet, all we know is that they were sighted near the lake making love at midnight."My eyes grew wide as the realization slowly dawned upon me. The person I had met last night, my mate. The stranger I had mated with was a member of the Midnight Pack.I was the traitor wolf!"There is no doubt in my mind that this female must be dealt with. The elders have demanded that all female wolves that attended the mating feast must report to the council. We are to find her and bring her to justice. Any of those that refuse to comply, or fail to appear, will be put to death."My head began to spin. Oh goddess, what the fuck did I get myself into.CHAPTER THREE'I have to run away!'The meeting finally ended with wolves dispersing to their various homes, as they expressed disgust at whoever the female wolf was. It was as if they had already chosen her fate, ready to see her suffer. They didn't care that she was a member of their pack or that none of this was even her fault, she was a victim in all this!I quickly walked out of the building with dread filling me, devouring me from the inside. My entire body was tense as I headed towards home. I couldn't believe that my mate was from the Midnight Pack. All this seemed just like a cruel joke played on me by the moon goddess, but why me.I bit my bottom lip. Why was I given this fate? Selene has a lot to answer for.Selene is the moon goddess. She created werewolves and lycans. And she was responsible for assigning everyone Their fates and mates. Why did I have to have so much bad luck? Why was my life always so complicated? Had I offended the moon goddess somehow and gotten cursed
CHAPTER FOUR'Goodbye'"I need to go mum," I told my mother, pulling free from her embrace. "If they find out that I'm the one, they will kill me. You heard what they said at the meeting." I broke up in tears.Mother shook her head as she tried to fight back the tears. She wiped the corners of my eyes and grabbed onto my hands."You can't leave, sweetie. Don't ever think that I am letting you out of my sight. I've already lost your father, the love of my life and I won't lose you too. I will speak to the council member. I will plead on your behalf. We can tell them you didn't know he was from the Midnight Pack. It's not like it's your fault that he's from that pack. Finding someone's mate and mating is supposed to be something special, not something that gets you killed. Please stay here."As much as I wanted to believe her words I couldn't risk it. The entire pack already hates me. More so, having my mother talk to the council, what if something bad happened to her? They may decide t
CHAPTER FIVE'I reject you'“What are you doing here?” I asked angrily as I stood to my feet. Even though my wolf wanted me to run into his arms and kiss him, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was very angry at him… For disappearing this morning …. For making me leave my pack, my mother."I just saved you from that bastard and that’s what you ask me? And who the fuck is him, I'm going to kill that coward.” the stranger said, shifting back into his human form. He seemed serious about his threat on Jekyll's life and honestly I was in support.“Don't you try to change the subject. You left me, after we made love. You just disappeared into thin air. I didn't know where you were until I woke up and realized that you weren't there beside me. It hurt me, it really did, you know that?”I could see a glint of empathy in his eyes. I'm sure he could see the pain in my eyes as well. "I'm sorry. I had important things to attend to." he whispered. His hands moved to my hips as he pulled me close
CHAPTER 6Ava's Point Of View'Wolves that read minds'I could feel the burning intensity in Kaden's kiss, my rogue alpha mate. I tried to push him off me but this was what I needed. I needed to feel the warmth of my mate, I needed his touch. I craved his kisses.'No but he is a rogue! The beginning of all your misfortunes. He is the reason why you had to run away from home.' my better judgment tried to plead it's case. But my wolf was more than forgiving to our mate. Should I really forgive him?"Come with me!" He says breaking off the kiss, leaving me panting hard."Let's go back to my pack. I'll protect you and I promise to make it up to you. If you are my mate Ava, then we belong together, that much is obvious." Kaden said holding my hands, his eyes screamed sincerity. I really wanted so badly to believe every word he was telling me.But everything we werewolves have been taught ever since we were little pups were not to trust the words of rogues. They would say whatever they neede
Chapter 7I quickly finished up my dinner and started making my way back to my room, I felt completely tired and drained. I needed to get some rest. Suddenly, a masculine scent mixed with forest breeze hits me hard. It was intoxicating my entire senses, setting me in a high.'Mate!' my wolf sang happily. She really didn't mind that our mate was in fact the Alpha of rogues, after all I wasn't one to be judge, I could be called a rogue too.Maybe I should give him a chance. The scent was coming from the last room along the hall way. As if my feets had a mind of their own I raced towards the scent. I entered the room to see Kaden sitting behind a messy desk."Ava," he calls standing up. I could see a familiar look of the affection he showed me the night we mated but soon it faded into an unreadable stare. It was replaced with hate."Kole told me you weren't around." I say with a smile, all he reciprocated it with was a cold stare."I only came back just now. What do you want?" He answere
Chapter 8Kaden's Point Of ViewAnger was all I felt. I had so many reasons to be angry. I was angry at myself, I was angry at the moon goddess and I was angry about my mate.I was training with some warriors at the training ground, I needed to let off some steam, something to distract my thoughts, any distraction that I could get was welcomed. Without warning all the warriors including my beta Adrian charged at me, lunging and attacking me with every trick in their arsenal. My eyes changed from its glowing emerald gem color to a fiery red glow, it was an indication that my wolf, Ace, was sharing partial control with me.In swift strokes I thrashed and sent them falling against the dusty earth at every corner.Adrian charged at me from behind, his claws were extended, swinging for my head, but I easily managed to duck just in time. I let out a low growl in annoyance, I pounced at him, circling my claws around his neck, then pinning him to the ground. I growled at him, getting him to l
Ava's Point Of ViewNight had befallen the castle and the rogues were already outside busy doing their bonfire thing.I stood, staring out through the window, getting ready for my grand escape. Okay, it isn't so grand like I made it out to be, the plan was just going out through the window and bounded for freedom.Like I said it was grand.I walked to the grand window and opened it breathing in the fresh chilly night air. Finally, when I feel calm I decide to look down, that's a long way down."Fuck!" I curse looking down.I think I can make it! Right? I'm a freaking werewolf, of course I can, maybe I'll break a few bones but I'll be fine.I climb down gently and sit on the edge of the window before dropping, I land on my feet like I knew I would. I jumped out of a freaking four story castle! My wolf must be getting stronger!I look around the empty area before I sprint off into the trees. I continue to sprint loving the way the wind was blowing on my hair, I don't feel anxious anym
Ava's Point Of View The moonlight shone down on the gloomy foggy dark castle that sat still on top of the hill looming over nothingness that went on miles and miles. It really looked haunted.I look up at the ancient looking castle holding back my tears. I can't believe that I'm back here, one right move and I would have escaped. It was all that witch's fault!I shoot her my best murderous glare and she just smiles at it.I was out of the pack, I almost tasted freedom but she ruined it all, now I was doomed. Kaden was going to have my head for this, that's for sure."Relax, he is not going to kill you." The witch smirks."How do you know that he won't?" I shot at her."I know Kaden, a lot more than most people do. He isn't going to kill his mate, but he is going to make you suffer as fuck. Kaden always fancied torture." She explains. Just who the hell was this chick? How did she know so much about Kaden? By the way she speaks Kaden and she must have a deep rooted history together."D
