LAURA

She didn't utter a word but left me to my questions.

I was on my way to my chamber while the very thought disturbed me. What does she mean by that? What has Killian done in the past to warrant her to say such things? I thought to myself.

My thoughts bothered me while I opened the doors of my chamber and went straight to my room. I took off my stained cloth. The flour I used while baking had left several stains on my dress, so I had to freshen up.

I quickly freshened up and dressed my bed. The doorbell rang.

“Come in,” I called on.

Aden came in and gestured a bow. “Ma'am,” he continued. “Madam Cassey is here to see you.”

“Of course let her in,” I said as my face lit up after hearing Cassey's name.

Aden unbolted the door for Cassey per my orders.

“Hello Laura.”

“Hi there Cassey.”

We both exchanged greetings and sat on the couch next to my bed.

“Your brownies are ready Laura,” she said cheerfully.

“That's great news, but I bet they don't taste as good as yours,” I replied.
