Helena’s P.O.V.

The softness of his voice snapped a string in my heart, that oddly familiar tone was like the cheering of your supporters after reaching the finish line of a marathon.

For confirmation, I raised my head and a pair of glimmering silver eyes smiled at me, putting a stamp to my assumptions.

“Miss me, love?”

“Carver!”

I hugged him back instantly, trying to merge my body in him for permanent relief. The sense of a strong protection enveloped me in his warm embrace, Carver caressed my back slowly as his voice was shakier even in a whisper.

“I missed you, love.

Why did you leave me alone?”

I punched his shoulder playfully, inhaling his refreshing scent of rain in a dense forest.

“I’m back, Carver.

Thanks for being patient with me.”

We stayed like this for a long time, drinking on each other’s scents, even his high body temperature felt like a home to me.

The ‘Ding’ of the elevator brought us back to reality, and we went to Liam’s apartment, which was locked as e
