Derek’s death

Derek staggered, his eyes fell on the dagger that was sticking in his abdomen as blood gushed out of the wound. He looked at his adoptive father and asked, “Why?”

“I want to ask you the same question. Why? Why did you have to betray me? Did I not treat you well? Or did I let you down in some way? You actually went against your father. It’s embarrassing to believe that I got together with your mother and gave birth to you. I thought that …” Harris shook his head as he looked at Derek who was trying to heal his wound and smiled. “Don’t try to heal that wound, the dagger has an ancient curse on it. No matter what you do, it will not close.”

Drops of blood started to fall on the ground, Derek covered his wound with his hands trying to slow down the flow of blood. The sharp pain made him dizzy as he looked at Harris. He was a smart man but he made a mistake and that was to never doubt his father. He believed this man to be cruel but took him as his saviour. If he had seen past his belief
