Chapter Five

Keegan

Once the day is over, I make my way out to my car and when I climb inside, I start the engine and make my way home, I have a few phone calls I need to make and get things in order.

Once I make it home, I see my parents sitting at the dining table looking over their laptops and they greet me as I walk.

“Hey son.”

“Hi honey, how was school?”

“Hey mom, hi dad, it was good, I have a lot of homework to get done, so I’ll just be in my room. Let me know when Dinner is ready?”

“Of course, honey, see you in a bit.”

I make my way up to my room and throw my book bag on the floor by my desk and throw myself down on my bed face first into my pillow. I release a deep breath and try to figure out how I am going to handle Jasmine. I know she isn’t going to back off as easily, but I need to find a way to get her to leave Destiney alone. I roll onto my back and pull out my phone, I make a phone call to take care of one task for Destiney, As I lay here thinking about her, I start to feel my eyes droop in sleepiness and before I know it, I’m falling asleep to images of what life could be like If Des really was my girl.

When I wake up later to my mom calling me down for dinner, I slowly climb to my feet and make my way downstairs to the kitchen to have dinner with my parents.

When I make it down there, mom and dad are already at the table with plates full of food and my mom was kind enough to fill a plate for me.

“Thanks mom.”

I lean over before I sit down and give her a kiss on her cheek to show my appreciation for her. She really is the greatest. My parents have been together since they were seniors in high school, they were your typical high school sweethearts, my dad was the quarter back for his high school and my mom was the shy, quiet bookworm. They met when I my dad needed to have tutor for one of his classes and that teacher assigned him to be tutored by my mom and they were not too fond of each other at first. From what I have heard mom hated him, he was the typical playboy, and she was was…not. But after they spent time together, they ended up falling for each other and they have been together ever since.

So, when I think about asking for advice on how to handle this situation, I think of my parents they are the perfect example on how to get Destiney to fall for me and to give me ways to get Jasmine of my back and to leave Destiney alone.

While I’m sitting here at the table with my parents I can feel their eyes on me, when I look up at my mom, she quickly looks away and to my dad, when I look over at him, he looks to my mom, it’s like they can sense my turmoil and want me to talk but they aren’t too sure how to go about asking me.

“Okay guys. What do you want to know? You clearly have something you want to ask me.”

My dad is the first to. speak up and when he looks at me, he gives me a tentative smile.

“Well son, we can tell something is bothering you and we just want you to know that you can talk to us if you want to. We know a lot more about life then you might think we do.”

“Okay well, you both know I have been seeing Jasmine off and on since last year and I recently broke up with her, but she refuses to take the hint and she won’t leave me alone. I don’t know what do to make her see what she isn’t seeing. Now she is starting to mess with Destiney, I’m sure you guys know her parents the big shot lawyers in town. What am I going to do?”

My mom gets this smile on her face when she looks at me, like she knows that I have feelings for Destiney, and she doesn’t seem sad about it. I have a feeling she would be happy for me to be with Destiney over Jasmine.

“Well, honey. This Destiney girl is a very sweet girl, we do know her parents, her mother and I have had lunch together a few times over the last year or two. They are lovely people. This Jasmine girl…not so much. Her father is something else I tell you what.”

My mom knows her mother. That’s great, that could possibly work in my favor one day. Maybe. I wonder how close my dad is with her dad.

“I know her father as well son. He is a great guy. Very humble and hard working. Always works to give his little girl everything he can. Even though he gives her the world, she seems to not let all that go to her head. She seems like a sweet girl from what we have heard from her parents.”

“Okay great, I know she is a sweet girl, I have known her for years. But never really thought anything could come of us together until recently. But because of Jasmine, I can’t do anything about it. I’m afraid Jasmine is going to seriously hurt her if I don’t think of something.”

“Well son, the only thing you can really do right now is just keep an eye on Destiney and try to keep Jasmine away from her. If something serious happens then we will have to go through the propre steps, and I hate to say it, but we may to get her parents involved at some point. For now, though son just try to keep the girls away from each other and try to look out for Destiney.”

I give both my parents a nod of my head and finish my dinner. We all finish in a comfortable silence with the occasional words about how our day went and once we are all done, we all go our separate ways to finish any work that needs to be completed for the day.

I make my way up to my room to finish all my work for school the next day and once that is completed, I make way to my bathroom to take a shower and then get ready for bed.

As I’m laying here is bed, I can’t help but think of Destiney again and as my eyes drift closed, I see visions of Destiney and what our future will be like. I can’t say that I am not happy about what I see as I drift off to sleep.
