"So, uhh… you wanted to say something?" Elijah asked in an unsure tone, not knowing what else to say.
"Why? I can't call you without any reason?" Sarah asked.
"No, no! That's not what I meant. Of course, you can call me anytime. But you weren't saying anything and… and I didn't know what to say. So, I…" He trailed off, not finding any more words to defend himself.
"Hey, hey! Calm down. I was just pulling your legs." Sarah said and laughed on the phone, making him sigh in relief. He heard her laugh with a small smile at the corner of his lips. Her smile is so flawless and soothing in his ears that he can't describe it in words. "Did I make you nervous, Elijah?" Sarah asked, really enjoying the phone conversation.
Sarah looked at the glass wall at her left and saw her reflection. She was smiling and the frown that always stays on her forehead was not there at this moment
Leave me reviews and gems!
She wished her father who just nodded at her in response. "You never ask me for any permission. So, why bother asking now about such a simple thing?" She replied in a cold and distanced tone. Her father's face fell a little after getting such a cold response from his dearest daughter. He nodded at her and sat at one of the chairs. "With whom were you talking with? I think I disturbed you." He said in a casual tone, trying to start a conversation. She looked at her father with squinted eyes. She knows her father. He is a straightforward man. But whenever he talks about other unnecessary things, it means he wants to say something but doesn't know how to start. She decided to play along with him and see where it goes. "No, it's okay. You didn't disturb me. It was my friend." She replied and he nodded at her. "You were supposed to meet him today. Did
ONE WEEK LATER It's been one week since the time Sarah and Elijah met and their friendship started. This week they didn't get the chance to meet again but they talked over the phone a few times. All the time it was only Sarah who initiated the call. Not even for once, Elijah called but Sarah could feel that he felt happy whenever she called. Maybe he is hesitant to get casual with her and Sarah understands him. So, she decided to give him time to get used to the friendship. It's been one week since she again started to talk with her parents. Everything almost settled with her father. But they are still a little bit awkward around each other because that day her father gave an answer to her question. Which didn't quite satisfy her. She and Elijah are still living apart, in their own places. They still haven't decided on what they are going to do. She lives in her apartment and occasionally comes to her p
"Like this! Like the way you are being now! So carefree. So sacrificing, such a pushover. You always let grandma bully you since childhood. You always let Liam, Samantha and Natasha bully you and walk over you. You never protest. You always accept whatever they say. You never say no! Why?" He exclaimed in frustration. She heard him with concentration and a beautiful smile made its place on her lips when she heard him which frustrated him some more. "See! Like this! You are always taking their bullshit with a smile. I hate this. I hate this attitude of yours." He exclaimed and looked away from her. She let out a chuckle. "You hate my most favourite weapon. That's so amusing and strange at the same time." She said which made him confused. "Don't talk like this with me." He said and let out a breath. Even though he was almost one year older than her, she always left him surprised with her mature talk
"Good evening, everyone." Helena Watson greeted after taking a seat. She was the last one to make her presence known at the dinner table. Well, she is not the last one, someone else is yet to come and join them. But right now everyone from the family is present in the room. "Good evening." Everyone mumbled a wish back. Helena looked at everyone with a smirk on her face and nodded at herself when she noticed that she got the power over them. She is a sucker of power and that's the reason she didn't pass down the authority to her children. But now that she is doing this, she is going to make sure to make them work hard for this. "It's so nice to have all of you at a family dinner after so long." She started talking. "But today some more people will join us." She announced and looked at Samantha and Natasha's faces and they looked back at her with excitement and a smirk.
"What is it, grandma?" Samantha asked with curiosity. Even though she was sure it's something about Sarah and that's what excites her a lot more. "Before that, I am going to ask Sarah something." She said and looked at Sarah. Sarah looked back. "Go on, grandmother." Sarah said after nodding her way with a serious look on her face. "Do you have anything else to say about what we discussed in our last meeting?" She asked and Sarah took a sharp intake of breath which Elijah nodded. Her grip on Elijah's wrist tightened which she was still grabbing tightly in her hands. "No, grandmother. We all discussed it already that day and I am not someone to move away from my words. What we discussed that day remains the same till now and it's not going to change." She answered and gave Elijah a small look in between but soon turned away. Helena nodded at her. "Okay,
"What is it you wanted to talk to me about, Sarah?" Helena asked directly to the point as soon as they both entered the room and Sarah closed the door behind. Sarah looked at her with squinted eyes, trying to read her as well as intimidate her. Which was working to some level but Helena wasn't a small player either. She was experienced in this sector. So, she kept her face blank. "I don't know what your motives are behind marrying me to Elijah who is a driver but you should stop it." Sarah spoke up after a few seconds of silence and she made sure to keep her words loud and clear. But Helena decided to play clueless here and looked at her in confusion. "What motives? What should I stop? What are you talking about?" She asked with a small frown, making her acting look more real. "You very well know what I am talking about, grandmother. You ca
LATER THAT NIGHT Silence, there was silence from both sides of the line. No one talked and waited for the other person to say something. They both wanted to say something but didn't know how. There was a lot going on in their minds. "I am sorry…" At last Sarah broke the silence as she couldn't keep it to herself anymore. Her tone was filled with genuine guilt. A guilt that she shouldn't feel but yet it was snatching her peace of mind. Elijah kept quiet from the other side of the phone and waited for her to complete whatever she wanted to say. Because he understood that it took a lot of self motivation to start the conversation and if he interrupts her now, she will stop talking and won't be able to complete whatever she wanted to say. "I know what happened at the dining table when everyone was gone. And I am really sorry that it happened. I was careless enough to le
KNIGHT'S CLUB Sarah stood outside the buzzing club while reading the name of the club several times. "Knight's club? Knight as in King. So, Mr King owns this club?" She asked herself in disbelief which could be confused as shock. She looked down at her phone to see only five minutes left to complete half past eleven as well as Mr King's given time. Then she opened her messaging application and opened an inbox which contained the messages which she received from Mr King. It was a private number. There were only two messages. One from one week ago which said, 'I don't think it's appropriate to get married before the marriage of your most important client. What do you say, Miss Watson?' Sarah felt weirdly creeped out after reading that message. A lot of questions were raised in her mind. How did he get her personal number? How did he get to know about her ma
