Chapter 48

Isabella and Erik were walking on the road towards the horse stables where Shadow was. Erik could feel that a pair of eyes were looking at them. He was cautious along the way.

They were getting near the stables and he could still feel the presence of the person looking at them.

"Isabella, why not go inside the stable first." He said.

"Okay." Isabella looked at him puzzled.

"Whatever happens don’t go out okay." He warned her sternly.

"Is there a problem?" She asked.

"Someone is following us since we left the riverbank." Erik whispered.

"What?" Isabella was startled. He gestured her to keep quiet and she nodded.

"Let’s act that we don’t know." He said softly. He retrieved his dagger from his belt and handed it to her. "Use this if ever something happens, okay?"

Isabella nodded again. "Be careful."

"I will, do not worry." She said. She was looking at Erik with worried eyes.
