“You’re getting married to Armando Teng?” I rolled my eyes nang sinundan-sundan na ako ni Kris sa ICU, as I checked the SATs ng mga patienteng under neuro.
“Kris, don’t you have patients to round to?” I asked, at siya naman, napairap. “I was supposed to tell you, kaso one of our patients coded, I had to be here.” Pumamewang ako at binalik ko sa nurses’ station ‘yong tablet for the electronic charts. “At saan mo naman narinig yong balitang ‘yon, Kris?”
“Nasa oncology ako kanina, tapos nagtanong-tanong si Richie Teng tungkol sa’yo, he let it slip.” I sighed, and then I smiled at Kris. “Nako, Arissa, wag mo akong madadaan sa pangiti-ngiti mo. Wala kang maloloko dito.”
“Ngayong alam mo na, will you be my witness?”
“Hell no.” Kris deadpanned, and he walked away, kaya agad ko naman siyang hinabol. Magkatabi lang kasi halos ang ICU
“You guys don’t have to do this, wala ba kayong mga surgery today?” I was dressed in a simple, white dress, at yong mga kasama ko, naka-outfit din sila. Umiling kaagad si Suzie. “Um, no. Hell no. Sa labas lang kaming tatlo para just in case na bigla kang magka-cold feet, kailangang may magda-drive ng getaway car.” I chuckled a little before I nodded. “Okay.” In the corner of my eye, nakita kong pumasok na sina Armando, his lawyer, na mukhang witness niya rin, si Attorney Ronquillo, and a Bellezo. I remember him as one of the Bellezos in the wedding. I’ve always known from Tia that the Bellezos and Tengs are allies, pero I didn’t think that they were this close. Speaking of Tia, she arrived with Andreas, right behind Armando and his witnesses. She gave me a confused look as she walked towards me. “I thought this was a private thing?” Tanong niya sa
I removed my scrub cap as we managed to save Mr. Rodriguez. “Nice save, Casimiro.” I sighed. Dr. Lagman and I scrubbed in with Dr. Lim, and Dr. Lim’s bringing in the good news to his wife. I went into the field without scrubs, so I don’t know kung saan napunta yong dress ko, and I’m tired. I got married and I went on the field within a day. I didn’t even notice na alas-diyes na ng gabi. Speaking of, nasaan kaya phone ko? I remember it being in my bag, but I was in the heat of the moment kanina pa, so I don’t know where my phone is, right now. I did, however, leave my bag with Kris. I looked at the OR board, to see if may surgery ngayon si Kris. Kris is a fellow in fetal surgery, pero he’s also studying under pediatric surgery, so he does some pediatric surgery din. The difference? Fetal surgery deals with babies sa loob ng tiyan ng mommy, and pediatric
“You bitch!” I rolled my eyes as I tossed her out of our house, half-naked. She cursed me, and I just gazed at her with anger. Naka-bra at panty lang siya, and I glared at her once again.“Between the woman who’s been sleeping with another woman’s husband, sino kaya ‘yong bitch sa ating dalawa?” I pushed her out of the door, and I threw her shoes out of the door. I picked up her red heels sa corner ng kama namin ni Armando, and I threw it out with her. “Leave.” Mabilis akong pumunta sa kwarto namin ni Armando, where he’s still there, sitting on the bed, almost amused as he saw me.But I ignored him.I took the woman’s clothes, and I went out to the balcony, tossing her clothes out of the house, completely.“Qizi, that’s Chanel.”“Dapat bang sinunog ko na lang, ha?” I removed my ponytail, and I threw my ba
This man’s stamina is out of my league. He finally put me down after seven rounds. Ano ba, wala bang recharge system 'yong orgasm niya? I guess he is a legend for a reason. It’s two in the morning, and I’m currently naked, and lying on his bare chest. “No more. Pagod na ‘ko.” I told him, before he even got another idea.I could hear Armando’s scoff. If there’s something I learned about him, after doing it with him so many times, Armando’s likes to go ‘tsk’ and ‘hmph’. It’s not that I mind, I just noticed it. He also doesn’t mind kissing. He’s also very ma-touch. He’s holding me in his arms, while one of his hands is playing with my hair.“I’m going to Tagaytay later.” He began. “Kaya nilubos ko na asawa ko. I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon.”I nodded. “Kukunin ko na mga aso ko mula sa caretakers
“Here.” He gave it to me, which I accepted, albeit unwillingly. “Hindi ko mapapangako na never kang magiging ‘wife in the waiting room’. Kasi ang buhay, hindi naman yan namimili kung sino ang tatamaan ng tren bukas.”“Is this?”“My medical directive. Ikaw nilagay ko sa end-life care. Okay lang ba?”Napahawak ako sa envelope. Medical directives are ‘yong mga written, legally-binding papers na magsasabi kung sino ang in-charge sa medical decisions ng tao, kapag hindi niya na kaya. Kunwari, si Lolo, kapag kunwari, kunwari lang, na-coma siya, since ako ang in charge sa medical directive niya, ako ang bahala ‘yong bibitaw na ba kay lolo, or hindi.Armando, if he’s going to give this to me, does that mean that he trusts me? Enough to leave me in charge of this?“Alam kong bata pa tayo, lalo ka na. But when the time comes, alam kong alam mo na ‘‘yong tamang des
“My pager’s going batshit crazy.” I reached from the bed to my bedside table to get my bag and my pager – sandali, the bed? I looked around, and mukhang I somehow ended up in our bed? Last thing I remembered, nakatulog ako sa sasakyan. Did Armando bring me here?“Good boy, Bill.” I heard my husband from the living room, kasi nakabukas yung pintuan. I went out of the room, and I saw him, playing from within the fence with my dogs. It’s good na he likes them, and they like him, also. Naramdaman ni Armando ‘yong presensya ko and he looked up to meet my eyes. “Tulog na tulog ka, so hinayaan na lang kitang matulog.” He picked up Bill, who kept wagging his tail. “In the meantime, nagbonding kami nina Steve Jobs at Bill Gates, I hope you don’t mind.”Umiling ako as I smiled. “I don’t. Thank you.” Then I narrowed my eyes. “Oo nga pala. How did you know about Steve Jobs and Bil
“I have to go to work, for real today.” Armando said as he kissed me on my cheek as we woke up. It’s the third day that I woke up naked in this room. I cracked my neck a little as I slowly sat up.Keeping up with Armando’s stamina is very difficult. We were basically locked in our room for almost three days, and lalabas lang kami to eat, feed the dogs, take the dogs for a walk, and take baths. I think we also did it in the bathroom for a few times.I touched my pelvis a little. Medyo masakit, because he really did tire me out.“Masakit ba? Should I call someone from the hospital?”I chuckled and shook my head. “I know naman what this is, I’ll be fine. You should get off to work.” I stretched a little as I watched him put on his underwear, and head to the bathroom. I also looked around, and picked up my underwear. Of course, I put it on, and then I went to the living room, and took out my laptop.
After the period na tinawag ni Lumi na ‘honeymoon period’, I went back to the hospital, and resumed my daily work. Of course, Armando became a part of that daily cycle of mine. Lumi calls it a ‘Malewife’, pero I don’t think he fits the standards. Sure, he cooks very well, to the point na three months into this marriage, I don’t think I’d be able to eat without criticizing at the back of my head ang kahit sino bukod sa kanya, but he can’t do anything else. He cooks, I clean the house. Kapag nag-pu-poopoo yung dogs sa diapers nila, he hands them to me like medical waste. Ako din naglo-laundry, kasi he doesn’t even know how to separate the lights from the darks. He kept complaining about the shades of grey on our first month, kaya I relieved him completely off laundry duty. Siya tiga-sampay, though. In contrast naman, Armando’s good at the things that I don&r
