Amy
I am so anxious to when my mom calls me telling me that she is already in town. The seminar is supposed to be ending at five in the evening. She says she will come to my apartment immediately after. I am so excited and nervous. I am just a bundle of nerves and I am afraid I will mess up. I have everything ready for her. I have already cleaned up and organized the entire apartment for her arrival. I really want to show my mom that I am now a grown and independent woman. I just want her to be proud of me.
The knock on the door gets me to halt in my tracks. I am in the kitchen getting everything ready with the meal. I have already finished preparing and the only thing left is setting up the table and serving. I ran hastily to the door and take a deep breath before opening it. I don't want to appear a nervous mess when my mom sees me, but I am just too excited.
"Mom!" I cry out as I engulf her in a tight bear hug.
"Amy, sweetie," she smiles sweetly at me and the entire room heats up with life. Just like in the old days as a teenager when I would welcome mom from work.
"You look gorgeous, mom," I complement as I break from the jug to take in the full sight of her.
"You don't look bad yourself, dear," she eyes me with proud motherly eyes.
"Oh, stop it mom," I can't help the grin my face breaks into.
"You're a beautiful lady so take the complement as it comes," my mom never seizes to impress me with her words. I missed her so much.
She walks into the living room. Her eyes wonder around the place to take in it's full view.
"You have an amazing space over here," she says.
"I know that it is small but I am saving for a bigger apartment," I tell her.
"You worry yourself too much. I mean you are one person. You don't need a lot of space where your voice will echo when you cough," she says.
"You are right. I will stay in this one for now," I laugh and she joins me.
My face feels warm because all I have been doing is smiling and laughing since mom arrived. She is really the good company that I have been craving. I lead her to the kitchen and show her what I have prepared. She gasps in shock.
"Oh, my. So much food. Is this feast all for me or there are also some invited guests?"
"No, mom. I prepared it all for you," I reply.
"Really?"
"I was so anxious about what you would and wouldn't want to eat so I prepared a variety," I say.
"That is so nice of you, dear. If I know you were going through all this, I would have wrapped up a gift for you," she says.
"No, am fine. I just want you to feel comfortable."
"I am always comfortable when I am around you," she gives me another of her sweet smiles.
"Thanks, mom," I lean into her chest and she gives me a short warm hug.
"Now let's get eating this banquet before it gets cold," she announces and I can't help but laugh.
After having the food and clearing the table, my mom goes to freshen up in the bathroom. I check through the DVDS I have for a nice movie that I can watch with her to pass time. I used to like watching movies with mom. It was always a fun experience when she would make sassy and funny comments about the characters. That is why I end up chosing a romantic comedy movie.
As I sit on the couch waiting for mom, my mind drifts to Jace. I haven't seen him since Monday night, but we have been talking on the phone. We text a lot but it is not the same as having him near me. I miss his hands on me as well as his lips. I almost ran to his house yesterday when I couldn't take it anymore. My body just needs him to be around all the time. I just can't fathom the reason why. Jace then texted me asking me how I was doing. I texted him saying that I miss him and I really want to see him soon, but he told me he was running errands. He didn't tell what the errands were about, and I didn't ask. Hell, I don't even know what he does for a living. Though he has such a big beautiful house and an expensive car, he has never talked to me about his work.
I get my phone and check for a text from him. He hasn't texted me since morning. I would have run crazy checking my phone every second for his text, but my mind was occupied with mom's visit.
Me: Hi. Mom has already come. We had some food and we are going to watch a movie.
I send the message and stare at the phone waiting for his reply. He always replies immediately, but I stare the phone until my eyes hurt.
Me: How was your day? How are the errands going?
I hope he replies soon. He must be really busy. I don't want to think that he is ignoring me. After waiting in vain, I place my phone on the table and lean into the couch. I remember when he said he would want to meet my mother. Should I tell mom about him?
"Someone is thinking hard," mom says as she enters the living room. I just give her a small smile.
"Who is occupying that mind of yours?" she asks while taking a sit beside me on the couch.
"It is just the new assignments from work," I lie. She gives me an i-don't-believe-you-at-all look.
"And you think I am going to believe that?" she raises an eyebrow at me.
"Okay," I sigh resignedly.
"He is Jace," I confess and her face lights up. "We haven't been together for long," I add.
"I can see that," she says. "What has Jace done this time?"
"Nothing. We talk a lot. He is either around or on phone. I haven't heard anything from him since morning," I tell her.
"And you are worried that he is ignoring you?"
"I don't know. I think he is just busy," I don't want to have negative thoughts at this moment.
"Don't worry. It's just been hours. I am sure he will try getting in touch soon," she gives my hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Thanks, mom," I really appreciate her being around at this moment or else my thoughts would be driving me nuts.
"It's nothing, dear," she waves me off with a smile. I feel more hopeful now.
"How are things between you and Bruce?" I ask to change the subject. Her face beams with a satisfied smile at the mention of his name.
"We are doing great. He is planning on buying a house so that we can live together," she says.
"You are moving in with him?" I wonder. I never knew their relationship was that serious.
"Yes, but not now. We are taking our time choosing a good house first," she responds.
"Bruce is really a serious guy. I know he will take good care of you."
"Oh, I will make sure I tell him how much you approve of him," I can't believe my mother is blushing in front of me.
"Please do. All I want is the best for the both of you," I tell her.
"Thanks sweetie," she says.
"Now let's get on with the movie plans!" I announce and grab the remote.
Through out the movie, Jace is at the top of my mind. I check my phone but there isn't anything from him. I hope he is okay. I am really worried about him. My mother notices me and gives me a sad smile. She is just here for the night so I should make the entire time about her. I switch off my phone and go back to the movie. Mom is so dramatic as usual, making funny comments about the movie which helps me not to think about Jace for some time.
JaceI am fuming with fury and morbid disgust. My body is covered in blood from the wounds I got from the fight. I know that I will heal quickly so that is the least of my concern. I can't get myself to calm down when the evil smirk Dwayne carried on his face when he mentioned Amy's name still replays in my mind. How dare he invade my private territory! I gave up my own park for the sake of peace but that didn't seem enough to him. He still wants more. He wants my mate and my family. He wants to take away the biggest treasures left in my life so that he can ruin my life."He is not going to stop this until he gets what he wants. Until he takes everything from me," I scream out towards Jose who is equally covered in blood. Patrick stands quietly behind me. His arm is still bleeding from the cut one of Dwayne's followers gave him during the fight. Jose nods frantically and I continue shouting over my lungs."I won't let him carry on his plans. He ruined my life an
AmyHaving Jace on top of me in my bed while my mom is asleep on the couch just an earshot away makes me feel so dirty. I just sneaked a man into my room in the middle of the night. Jace quickly removes his shirt and discards it on the floor. His hard muscles stretch out of his body in a sexy masculine way. I bet he works out every day. My fingers itch to draw patterns on his hair dusted chest"Seeing something you like?" he raises an eyebrow at me. I smile at him as he leans in closer toward me so I can have a better look. I run my fingers across his hard chest and sexy abs. He has a scar across his chest on the breast where his heart rests. It looks like a slash or scratch, I can't tell. I trace it with my fingers and place my palm on it to feel his heart bit. It looks like someone wanted to pull out his heart. He places his hand over mine and I look at him."My heart beats for you, baby. I don't think it could still beat if I lose you," his voice is raw with
JaceMs. Hermann is such a charming lady. I wanted to stay in bed and wait for Amy to come back but I had a feeling I was going to regret if I didn't meet her. If things go well, she might end up as my mother-in-law. It would be awesome if she would always visit us when Amy moves in with me. I know she would go along well with the other women, especially Sophia.Amy stands behind her mother wearing an adorable smile. She watches her mother and me as we make endless chitchat."As much as I would like to stick around and have fun with this prince charming, I have to go. My colleagues will leave me behind and I don't want to go back home on my own," she says and gets up from the stool she was sitting on."Where are the rest of your colleagues? I can drive you there if you don't mind. My car is parked outside," I offer."Don't bother yourself. I already called in for a taxi. It will be arriving in a few minutes," she says."Okay. Maybe nex
AmyAfter mother and Jace leave, my apartment suddenly feels deadly quiet. I frown at the lonely feeling that starts creeping up my skin. I turn on my laptop and start with the assignments from work. I try hard to concentrate but my mind still drifts to Jace. I wonder what he is doing right now. Did he go back home. He is probably telling Sophia that I will be there this weekend. I bet she is giving him her cheeky smile and Jace mentally roles his eyes. I can't seem to bring myself to the reality that I am alone in my quiet apartment where I am supposed to be putting all my concentration to my work. What happened to me? My future and my work have always been the only things that mattered most. But after Jace, nothing seems to have the similar importance it had before.I am tempted to send him a text but he just left. He would probably think of me as the clingy type of girlfriend. I force myself to work on my assignments until four o'clock in the evening. I get up
JaceJordan and Patrick burst into the main house panting and puffing. Jose and I are startled from where we are sitting on the couch in the living room. I immediately dash to the door where they are standing."We have spotted shifters from the Redclaw pack roaming around the forest," Patrick says. His face is a mess of sweat an uncountable evidence that he has been running."What are they doing here?" I shout at nobody. I clench my fists in rage, and fight the urge to punch holes into the wall."We have no idea. We have been chasing them around the forest but I think they want us to just run around with no clear intentions," Jordan says."Did they go away?" Jose inquires from behind me."We don't know if they are gone. They just disappeared into the darkness of the thick woods and we couldn't trace them," Patrick replies."Damn it! What game is Dwayne playing at this time?" I growl through clenched teeth."We just have t
AmyJace enters my apartment with a huge grin on his face. His text from last night has been keeping me very impatient for his arrival. I am compelled to steal a glance at the clock on the wall. It is exactly nine. He is right on time, and that makes me even more anxious about what he could be up to."You are on time," I say as I close the door with fumbling fingers."For what I have in mind, I couldn't waste any second delaying," he narrows his eyes at me. My muscles tense in excitement. He engulfs me in his arms and presses me to the door."Are you going to give me a sneak peek about what it is about?" I inquire from him. He chuckles lightly and his face goes dead seriously."Not at all. There is no telling," he replies and his lips lift into a coy smile."Hmmm. I am very curious what brings you to my apartment so on time this morning," I search his eyes for clues but there is nothing but the hot lustful look in them. He inches his head ne
JaceI pull up in the driveway way past ten o'clock. Amy looks wearing a yellow sundress with her hair in a high ponytail. She seems to be occupied in her own thoughts, probably good thoughts about a few minutes ago. I smile at my own recollection of the morning."I hope Sophia is not so mad at me for making her wait for too long," Amy says while we walk to the porch."Don't worry about her. She won't be any less excited," I give her hand a reassuring squeeze and she gives me a small smile. I hope yesterday's events don't affect Amy's visit."Hi, Amy. I am so happy you made it," Sophia beams at Amy when she walks into the house."Ofcourse I had to come. I wouldn't miss coming over to see you for anything else in the world," she says with a reflected grin. Except some hot sex with Jace, I add for her though I don't say it out loud. Sophia gives her a pat on the arm and leads her out of the living room leaving me ignored as usual. I am kinda getting
AmyI feel so lightheaded after spending the entire day with these amazing ladies in Jace's kitchen. They are such good company that they make me feel at home and loved. Maybe I do belong here. Should I move in with Jace? I shake the thought off my mind. I can't believe I am even giving it a thought. It is way too early for that. I remember mom's words 'Time does not matter as long as you are with the right person'. Is Jace my right person? Should I just follow my heart and do whatever it demands? We have prepared very many dishes of food and drink. Sophia and Alexa asked Jace to invite everyone over for dinner so that the food can be eaten and not put to waste. He refused to go out and make door to door invitation until I bribed him with a kiss. Ellen has already joined us in the kitchen and abundant hugs and smiles are being shared amongst everyone. This is my happy place. I don't want to live, ever.I help set the table and carry food to the dinning roo
