Small Steps

“Mother,” he interrupted their conversation. Helena turned to him but Rosalie stiffened.

“I hate it when you come home covered in blood, boy?” Helena admonished.

“It was Rogues, Mother. Today we hunted the woods and killed each one of them,” exhaustion laced his voice.

“Now they won’t be able to hurt anyone,” he snuck a glance at Rosalie.

Rosalie’s lips parted and her heartbeat quickened. She couldn’t help turning her head and looking at him. Ryker looked away quickly. He indeed was covered in blood and there were some bruises too. Claw marks, teeth marks, and wounds scattered all over his body.

“I’ll go and have a bath,” he blurted out before walking off.

“This boy worries me a lot,” Helena sighed. Rosalie looked at her but said nothing.

Three plates were set on the table when Ryker returned after showering. His mouth watered at the sight of food. He was starving. He didn’t have breakfast or lunch as he was too busy combing through the woods in search of rogues.
