I munch on the snacks he had kept in his cupboard for himself as he takes a shower in the bathroom, and I feel he is not that bad after all.

Ryker is cold and arrogant, but he keeps his word. That's what I admire about him, despite my hatred for him. My dad used to say that even the worst person will have good quality; no one is completely bad or completely good, and all of us are made with flaws that we should learn to accept.

My eyes moisten as I miss him and feel so lonely after coming here. I’m wearing a mask and living a life full of risks that can get me into trouble or, worse, get me killed.

Why did you leave me alone in this brutal world, Dad?

The sound of the door opening makes me jerk, and I wipe the tears off my face. I leave the bag of chips on the small dining table that we have in the room and go to the bathroom to wash my hands, not meeting his eyes.
