"The doctor hasn't said anything at all?"

She shook her head.

He sighed, but nodded.

"Okay. How about you? Have you had anything to eat?"

She shook her head again. "No. Sherlie said she'll bring something by."

Taking her head, he led her to the green couch at the extreme end of the hall and sat, pulling her down beside him. Thankfully, the couch was big enough to take both of them, provided they snuggled together.

"When did you arrive here?"

"Past four. I'm sorry you had to leave your get together to come here."

"Beth, stop. I'll always be around when you need me. Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want you to worry. I wanted to observe her to be sure first."

He exhaled, kissing her forehead.

"You need to cut it out. Let me decide what worries me, okay? Please."

Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, she nodded. Giving her a small smile, he breathed out,

"The get together. It ended up being grand."
