Chapter 44
SJ got out of his car after parking at the driveway, fronting his parents’ house that night and went to the passenger door side to open the door for Elli. He extended a hand and she placed hers gently as she stood up carefully.
“Thank you,” Elli said softly as she fixed her dress.
He looked down at his wife and a frown appeared on his face as he took note of the low V-neckline of the dress she is wearing as well as the front split. Her bare back is also exposed, and he took every ounce of patience not to take off his dinner jacket and put it around her.
“Who helped you choose this dress?” He asked tightly.
“I asked Luisa to go shopping with me,” she answered calmly, smiling up at him. “She was set on making me wear a tight-fitting dress, but I had to decline. It was too much for me. We both agreed on this one. It’s perfect for the dinner tonight, she said.”

Elli placed down her teacup gently on the saucer and remained in her sit once the dinner was finally over. SJ and his parents went to his father’s office to discussed on something important while Jackson bade her goodnight and made her promise that she will visit him again. SJ woke up the following day and turned to his side, checking on Elli’s condition. He found her sleeping on her side with her back to him in a fetus position. He sat up and placed a hand on her forehead and checked her temperature. She developed a fever late in the evening and Paige had to calm him down because he was set in bringing her to the hospital already.“She’s going to be fine,” Paige said firmly. “I already injected antibiotics. “Feeling better?”Elli turned and found SJ at the doorway, smiling at her calmly after she took a quick bath and changed to a sundress. SJ placed his car keys on the table by the main door before securing the lock late that evening. He watched as Elli silently walked towards the kitchen and reached for the tea kettle. She opened the paper bag and pulled out one chamomile tea bag he knew his mother bought for her.“Would you like some tea also?” She asked softly.“Yes, thank you,” SJ answered as he walked to the living area first and placed the shopping bags, he carried for her before sitting on the dining table. “But don’t steep mine too much. Elli finally sat down on the chair one of the construction workers provided for her and she took off her hard hat, placing it on the table on a fine Tuesday morning. It’s been more than a month since she returned to her work, and she was glad that she was told by Florence that she will be directly supervising the works on site on Mr. Grande’s granddaughter’s room renovation.Since she came back to the office, there has been some changes in her department. Upon the CEO’s approval, she is now promoted to a managerial position.
