"What happened to him?" Eden asked curiously.
"He was obsessed. So, I got a restraining order on him, I haven't seen him since, and it's been 4 years." Sienna sighed but remembered her current boyfriend and smiled.
"Your cousin is a lot better, don't worry." Eden laughed and Sienna was glad she could make her feel a little better.
After 2 rings, Alec picked up Eden's call and regretted it not even 5 minutes later. A phone call wasn't the most ideal thing, but it was better than a text. And Eden couldn't face Alec right now so the phone call it was.
"I can't be with you Alec. I started to fall in love with you but after what you told me, I'm scared to be around you. I'm sorry. We're done."
"That's what she said. Those were her exact words; fuck I don't know why I didn't listen to you Kai and I know your happy inside right now because you were right so fuck off." Alec quoted Eden and explained the situation to Malakai who listened with a straight face.
Kai wasn't happy per say, but he was right and that fed his pride. When was Malakai De Luca ever wrong?
"I told you not to get involved Alec, love and murder don't go together." Malakai said once again, and Alec let out an aggravated sigh and ran his hands down his face.
"Fuck I know. I know damn it. Now I've lost her. She's scared of me, and I can't even do anything about it. I feel like an idiot.” Alec mumbled, wishing this wasn't what it had to come to, he felt like he loved Eden.
"Let it be for now. If she really loves you, she'd accept the life you lead. She'd accept the job, if she doesn't, then question the love she had for you. That's my advice." Kai knew Eden wouldn't return.
You see, Kai had been watching Eden for a while, only to see if she wasn't a threat to Alec and his business. Creepy I know. He needed to make sure Eden had no bad intentions and what did Kai find? Nothing.
Eden was an absolute angel. She was good, pure, seemingly innocent minded. There's no way she's going to accept Alec's profession.
But there was always something about her too. Something that always pulled Malakai in, closer and closer, until he used to watch her for hours. He'd promised not to be a stalker and he wasn't. He only used to watch her when she was studying or something, nothing too extreme like following her places. After that, he would leave Eden alone.
But he knew he had to back off. For 2 reasons. 1 was that she was Alec's. And now Alec's ex which isn't any better. And 2, just as he saw with Alec, love and murder don't mix. Love and crime don't mix. It always ends badly. He wasn't about to go against his own words.
"She won’t accept Kai. Eden is too good, and now she's gone." Alec let out a little tear but wiped it away as quickly as it came. He and Kai might've been together for years but he's not about to show up weak now.
"Okay, how about a distraction. Is that family dead?" Kai's distraction from the shit of life was always business. Business was his escape and it kept him busy, so his mind didn't run to places it didn't need to.
"Yeah. I killed them the same night you told me to. I sent the proof to your email." Alec might as well distract himself too.
"Very well. I need to go, I have a shipment coming from Japan, I need to personally see it." Malakai was getting his jacket from behind his chair as well as his phone.
"Japan? Who do we have in Japan?" Alec asked. He was sure they had no connections in Japan unless he's forgetting.
"The Yakuza." Malakai simply said and left, leaving Alec wide eyed. Damn Malakai really finds his way around. I mean, the Yakuza. That’s no small thing. But with Malakai, connections were everything.
Malakai walked down and his bodyguard followed him. Sure, Malakai didn't need anyone's protection since he could easily handle himself but 2 was better than 1. He would’ve taken Alec, but he wasn't in the right state of mind right now.
He got into his black Maserati and started driving towards the docks. He had made a deal with the Yakuza once he handed over one of their most wanted enemies who had fled to California. Since then, they had been in business with Malakai and delivered drug cartels and weapons. Weapons that Kai would then illegally sell on the black market.
Like he said, if things went his way, he'd be fine. Normally his bodyguard would drive but Kai loves driving, finding a thrill in speeding down streets.
Malakai couldn't help but think back to Eden. She clearly wouldn't be okay after what happened, she'd go to the university's library to study so much her brain would start to hurt. She was no different from Malakai, making work her distraction.
However, he needed to stop thinking about it, as he said countless times, love and murder do not mix. And he wished Alec understood that sooner so he wouldn't be going through heartbreak right now. He doesn't like seeing his friend in that state.
He reached the harbour and saw a few ships docking already, perfect. Just on time. Malakai stepped out of his vehicle and put his hands in his trench coat. He was clad head to toe in black, and practically screamed power.
He wore a mask too because his identity wasn't to be revealed. He walked with slow caution steps until he reached the man he wanted to meet. The boy stretched out his hand to Kai who shook it with own gloved one.
"We had no difficulties; everything is there and intact. The drugs are on the left ship, the weapons on the right. I trust you know what to do of course." The boy said. He was a little young though, looked around 15 or 16 years old.
"Aren't you too young to be doing this?" Malakai spoke his mind and the boy smiled.
"My father does this, I simply follow him. Besides, there's a thrill about crime I don't think many people understand." The boy said and Kai smirked, impressed with him.
"It's only a crime if we're caught." He said and motioned to his men to check the ships out.
Just then Malakai got a call, another job. An assassination.
If you haven't already gathered, this isn't a story about heroes and villains. It's not about who's good and that good overruling the bad. No.
This is a story about misunderstood criminals. A villain is only a villain because they haven't had a chance to tell their story. A hero must win every time. But the villain only must win once. When we're kids, we idolise heroes. When you grow up though, you understand the villains.
So no, there are no heroes in this story, only villains. It's not a story of good and bad. It's a story of only the bad, about that little psychotic part of everyone. About that little evil everyone has in them, it's about the demons that everyone has.
Malakai was a perfect example of a demon in disguise. And Eden? Eden was the perfect villain. After all, no one expects an angel to get the world on fire.
3 years later Monsters aren't born, they're created. They're not the ones hiding under the bed, they're the ones inside you. They're created from the pain of one's heart, the pain is what's turned into darkness. Little by little, the darkness grows and overpowers one's mind, body and soul, making someone it's personal bitch. It's exactly what happened to her. A monster was created from the innocence she once had, the innocence taken and made into madness. Over the years, she fully processed what had happened to her, what her ex did to her. She became fully aware and became curious too. What was this thrill her ex got from killing, from murdering. She never found out herself but that didn't mean she wasn't curious. However, as well as the storm raging in her mind, Eden had a storm around her too. This was her second to last year in university and she had to graduate. There was just one small issue. She could no longer afford to. Eden began her studies on a scholarship, she di
In all honesty, over the years, Eden changed a lot. A lot more than she'd like to admit. Gone was the Eden who would never hurt a fly. She'll admit she had some murderous thoughts about people. Like her professors or people who annoyed her, she wasn’t serious, but a part of her mind thought she was. That is why she regretted breaking up with Alec quickly. But at the same time, she fell out of love with him. She would always care about him, always love him but not so much romantically anymore. But Alec hurt her too. He told her he would hurt her if his boss asked him to. She knew it was a test but that didn't matter. Alec lied to her and hid such a big part of himself from Eden and that's what hurt. "No. Not anymore. Never again. Being scared is for the weak and I'm anything but." Eden answered confidently and Malakai nodded. Just the answer he needed. "That's exactly what I wanted to hear. So, do you accept it?" Malakai sat down opposite Eden. "What if I don't?" Eden knew there w
2 months have passed and let's just say Eden is back on track with university. It really is amazing, the whole 180 her life made, and it was all thanks to Malakai. Along the way, Eden had learned that she didn't have to clean her mess up, Malakai had an entire team ready to clean up the scenes she left. She would show Malakai proof and she'd be paid in return. And hell, the adrenaline rush she would get from slashing someone's throat open was incomparable. It was easy money, she only had to pay with her sanity though, Of course, there were difficulties, but Malakai sorted them out for her. She learned Malakai was always there for his agents and never allowed them to get caught or have any trouble. He cared. He just didn't show it. And something she was thankful for was that no one treated her any differently because she was a girl. No one questioned her capabilities because she was a girl. In fact, Eden was on her way to a mission right now. Malakai called her about an ho
"One day Eden. I'll tell you one day hmm?" Malakai said and Eden nodded. Malakai was in awe. Eden’s eyes were so innocent, but she was the opposite. She had fire in her veins and embers in her eyes. She looked like she wouldn't hurt a fly but oh how wrong that was. She didn't strike anyone as a criminal, a serial killer. Maybe that's what made her so good at it. Part of Kai feels bad that he created a killer from an innocent angel. But another part of him was glad. This is who Eden was now and they both liked it. Besides, don't get me started on her name. Eden. It’s a garden in paradise. It's ironic that her name resembles paradise, but her actions will probably send her to hell. Her name was perfect for her. Eden liked not being afraid anymore. In turn, people were now afraid of her instead. She wasn't scared and that made her feel more powerful. In control of herself. She was living breathing proof that a girl was just as deadly as anyone else. "What do you say about us g
"W-what?" Eden's heart dropped. It couldn't be. Surly. She ran to find Malakai and once she found him, she stood right in front of him to block his view. "Eleanor Park? Are you sure? Show me the picture." Eden said in a rush, Malakai was confused what got into her suddenly. "What's wrong?" He asked and Eden took a deep breath. "I've known Elanore since high school. She doesn't go to the same university, but I was friends with her in high school. I knew she got married but... I'm sorry Kai. I can't do it." That angered him. This is why emotions are overrated. "There's no room for feelings in this profession Eden. You either kill her or I do. I told you; I don't care what they do but when I have clients and orders, I make sure I do them. This means you follow my orders." Malakai said in a grave voice, but Eden was determined, and she stopped being scared a long time ago. "No, the fuck I won't. She's a good person." Eden wasn't backing down and Malakai let out a humourless la
Malakai on the other hand was raging but he hid it so well. How can Eden just disobey him like that? This whole job was based on orders. He'll admit, Eden was the only one who would do something like this. Even Alec follows his orders, no questions asked. He wouldn't ever think of disobeying Kai. But Eden just had to be different. Eden was quite different from when Malakai first met her, she'd changed, maybe for the better since there was no more nice, innocent Eden who hated how vulnerable and weak she was. Now she was strong, confident, powerful and not so scared. For that reason, Malakai didn't regret making her into what she was, until now when Eden disobeyed him. He couldn't care less about the client; it was about orders. If orders weren't followed, it would be an issue in the future. It's happened before. He had an agent who didn't follow orders and soon went rogue, also trying to kill Malakai but he was the one who died instead. Which is why he needed to make sure everythi
Malakai put his phone down after speaking to Eden who did exactly what Malakai thought he would. Malakai sent over a cleaning crew and sat down on his seat in the office. One day. Eden had annoyed him so much in the space of one day. The whole thing with Jisoo, going against his orders, taking his gun and now this. Killing the CEO of Kang Ind. Could Eden do any worse. She probably could, Malakai won't underestimate her but he could only pray that Eden would behave. It's been an hour since he's sent the cleaning crew and Eden never showed up. He looked to his right and saw the drawer that Eden broke into. He was quite impressed at how easily she did it. But then he looked carefully and his gaze landed on the floor. The earring Eden used. She must have dropped it, too concentrated on the gun. Malakai picked it up and looked at the back of it closely. It wasn't an ordinary earring, it had a knife-like back, like a hidden weapon. Cleaver. That's why Eden got in so easily. Malakai coul
She walked over to him and put a hand on Malakai's shoulder and gave him a silent 'it'll be okay' and Malakai nodded. "Can I take your gun again?" Eden asked to change the subject, but she really did want it. Malakai turned and furrowed his eyebrows. "No." He simply said and Eden pouted. "Maybe." Malakai then said once he saw the look on Eden's face and gave in. Eden's eyes lit up at the response. "I promise It'll be fine. I killed Kang with it, and it was such a perfect shot. So smooth a quick. I loved it." Malakai smiled seeing Eden talk about his gun like a kid who got a new toy. "Stop looking at me like that." Eden suddenly said. "Like what?" Malakai asked, confused. "Like you're showing emotion." Malakai raised an eyebrow and shook his head at the blond before sitting back down to do some work. But that was near impossible with Eden. "What are you doing?" Eden asked when she came round to Malakai and looked at his laptop. "Work. Which is also what you're supposed to be d
