Chapter 4
Charity POV
“Thank you,” the young girl who was about the same age as me whispered after she changed her dress. I was glad I brought a spare dress to the school for no purpose actually. Glad it really helped.
“It’s fine. Are you hurt anywhere? Do you want me to take you to the infirmary?” I asked her as I checked her body for any damage, but she shook her head.
“I’m fine…” she replied to me, and I nodded my head.
“You should be careful here in the school. I think they are all bullies, so you have to stay out of trouble,” I offered her a piece of advice before I turned to leave, but she stopped me.
“You should be careful… they are dangerous, and can hurt you. You shouldn’t have gotten yourself involved. Now, they won't stop haunting you,” she uttered as she held her gaze low, probably feeling guilty.
“It’s not your fault, so don’t feel bad about it. I am also a scholarship student, which means that they were going to bully me even though I didn’t get involved,” I patted her shoulder before I turned and walked away, without even bothering to ask her about her name. Who knows, maybe she is not even a fresher like myself.
As I stepped into my class a few minutes later, I greeted the teacher before I walked over to sit in my chair, avoiding whispers from the jobless students. How time flies, the first class was finally over, and soon, we were left in the class by ourselves.
“Hey, scholarship student!” I heard a feminine voice, and I raised my gaze to find a girl of almost the same age as me, glaring down at me. She had her red hair packed in a tight bun, her thick eyebrows were cute, and her pair of ocean blue eyes pierced into mine as if she was going to devour me, and it didn’t look like I care about that, anyway. I quickly recognized her to be the rumored school bad bitch queen bee or whatever they called her. Heard her name is Xee.
“Charity is the name. How may I help you?” I said to her sarcastically, and she scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
“Does it look like I care about your name, huh? Fuck your name, bitch! Do you think you are a superwoman now?” she scoffed, obviously angry.
“I am not wearing a superwoman costume. I hope that answers your question?” I smirked at her before I turned my gaze away.
“I’m about to study. If you have spare time, you should work on improving your grade,” I further said before I turned my gaze away, and I heard her scoff. Hearing her retreating footsteps, I concluded that she must be gone, and when I turned my head back, I saw her sitting at the back, as she glared hard at me.
As I revised what our teacher just taught us, the sound of the thick footsteps in the classroom made me raise my gaze, and I knotted my eyebrows when I found the girl from earlier walked in. I had no idea she was my classmate.
“Hi!” she smiled at me as she sat beside me, and I slowly nodded my head. I guess she's my deskmate.
“Are you in this class?” curiosity spurred through me, and I just couldn’t stop myself from asking, and nodding her head was the answer I needed.
“I’m glad we are in the same class,” she whispered, and I slowly nodded my head.
“Lowlife church rats!”
“Smelly things,”
“They are both low-class rags, they should be friends. I can't just wait for Chase to throw them out of the school. That will be the biggest day of my life,” hearing their disgusting words was getting me pissed because I grew up with the principle of never allowing someone to say shit to me, but I wasn’t going to react to them, not until they mentioned my name.
“I’m sorry I got you involved in the mess,” the girl whom I still haven't known her name whispered. I guess she didn’t want people to hear her talk. I have always hated cowards, but in this case, I couldn’t blame her. I guess she was just scared of getting expelled.
“It’s fine,” I replied to her since it didn’t seem like she was going to stop talking anytime soon.
"Uhm... By the way, my name is Enny Connor, and I'm eighteen years old, turning nineteen in May 15. You?" The girl asked me as she beamed with smiles.
"I'm Charity, same age, same birthday date," It's really weird how we shared the same age and birthday, but that didn't matter, right? I mean, it could just be a coincidence.
"Wow! We share the same birthday," She uttered excitedly, and I slowly nodded my head. I didn't really see anything that should make her excited about this. Well, it wasn't my business anyway.
After a few hours of being in class with different teachers coming to teach us, it was finally lunch break, and I left to go eat in the canteen which was located within the school.
The place was already filled up by the time I arrived, so I joined the queue. It didn’t seem like it was going to get to my turn, but it did, eventually, and soon, I was served my food. I turned to go get somewhere to sit, but I tripped upon something, or should I say someone’s leg? Well, I fell flat on my stomach with the food spilling on the ground.
“Leave Denver’s high school. The school is not for paupers like you!” the girl that just made me trip uttered as she came to stand in front of me.
“It seems like she’s never going to learn her lessons. Just leave now while we are being nice,” another voice uttered, and the next thing I heard was roars, which only meant that The K5 were here. I could hear thick footsteps drawing closer to me, and I finally managed to stand up to my feet, but someone hit my leg from behind unaware to me, ending me roughly on my knees, and I felt my kneecap make a sound as an excruciating pain spread through my body. The pain was so much that I couldn't hold back the tears that dropped from my eyes.
“Are those tears I’m seeing?” I quickly recognized the voice to be Chase’s, so I raised my gaze to find him squatting in front of me while having a smirk dancing at the corner of his lips. He wasn’t alone as usual, but with the rest of the members. I felt my blood boiling in rage, waves of anger sparked through me, and beads of sweat formed on my forehead as I glared at him, the urge to pounce on him surged through me, but my knee was numb and it felt like there was no blood there anymore.
“Don’t you think you should leave before it gets tougher?” he asked calmly, and I scoffed.
“You might need the so-called therapist to fix you up when I’m done with you here. So are you going to choose to stay here, or do you want to see the ugly side of Chase?” he asked as he held my chin tightly, but I slapped his hand off.
“You don't look fierce enough… I think you should try harder next time when you want to threaten someone, especially when it’s someone like me,” I replied to him between gritted teeth as I managed to stand up to my feet, enduring the pain that kept trying to consume me.
“How dare you!” he yelled at the top of his voice as he grabbed my hand roughly, pulling me back as I attempted to walk away.
“How dare you, bitch!” he yelled at the top of his voice, and trust me, slapping me was the abominable thing he shouldn’t have ever tried. I have zero tolerance for bullshits, and this bastard just made the biggest mistake of his life by slapping me…
Chapter 5 Charity POV “How dare you, bitch!” I cringed when Chase slapped me, and trust me, that has to be the biggest mistake he ever made in his life. How could he even raise his hand on me? “Fuck! You shouldn’t really have done that, Chase… you shouldn’t have,” I shook my head as I pushed him roughly, and he staggered back, but quickly maintained his balance. “Did you just push me?” he raised his eyebrows in shock. “You better expect the worse, because that is not all I’m going to do to you,” I uttered before I grabbed his shirt by the collar, slamming him hard against the wall, and I heard gasps from the students. I knew I was making a mess, touching him, but this bastard really needed someone to fucking teach him a lesson, and I’m going to fucking do that, regardless of the outcome of my action later. “Get your hands off me!” he yelled at the top of his voice as he pushed me back roughly until I fell on my butt, and realization dawned on me that I was right in front of the r
Chapter 6 Charity POV My day in school was rough yesterday, and I finally got to know how toxic those bastards are. Yes, I so much wanted to show my identity and fight back, I wanted to show who I am, I wanted to make them pay for doing that to me, but I couldn't. I was handicapped in this situation and there was nothing I could do about it. Standing in front of the mirror yet again and all ready for school, I was scared. Scared of what those toxic bullies had in store for me when I get to the school later, but still, I had to go, right? I took a deep breath and picked up my backpack from the bed where I kept it earlier, leaving for school afterward. Standing at the side of the road minutes later and waiting for a cab, I couldn't get one, so I decided to trek to the bus stop and take the bus from there. "Hey, Cha Cha," I heard Enny's familiar voice, so I stopped and turned to find her scurrying over to me. I pulled a puzzled look. "What are you doing here?" I asked her, creasing
Chapter 7Charity POVI tossed on the bed for the umpteenth time and squeezed my face when I heard my stomach grumble hungrily. Now I regret leaving the school earlier. At least I would've gotten the chance to have a free meal there if I hadn't left earlier. What was I going to eat now that I came home? With the little strength left in me, I dragged myself from the bed and headed to the kitchen hoping to find something I could eat to give me strength, but I was met with an empty kitchen and I felt like crying my eyes out."Not now, please. I don't have a dime on me," I whined, facepalming myself frustratingly. I have spent my savings on my rent and I was left to starve now."I am an ulcer patient, please," I whined, almost in tears."When were you diagnosed with an ulcer?" My subconscious mind asked me, and I sighed before I walked back into my room and crashed against the bed.My phone beeped, and when I checked it, I sighed and shook my head. The video of me teaching that bitch a l
Chapter 8Chase POVI scoffed after I watched the video from yesterday for the second time again this morning. The new commoner is pretty interesting. I thought I should throw her out of the school before, but fuck it. I won't ever do that. I had something in store for her this time.My phone beeped, and a text from Mom popped on the screen.'Are you dropping by to have breakfast before you leave for school? I already made something for all of you' I scoffed when I read the text. Going to the mansion to see her was the last thing on my mind, knowing that will frustrate the living soul out of me. I didn't have the energy for her nagging.'No, Mom. Knox already made breakfast, so we will eat here before leaving for school' I replied to her text, and as if she was waiting to get my reply, her message popped up on the screen again.'You are going to kill Knox. Do you all ever do stuff for yourselves? Anyway, don't you dare skip class today if you don't want me to go crazy' I rolled my eye
Chapter 9Charity POV"You have to expel that girl from the school. Do you know the damage she caused to my child?" I heard a feminine voice from the principal's office, and I needed not to be told that she would definitely be Xee's Mom. If only my Mom was alive, she would've been here for me."I'm sorry, ma'am...""Do you know how much I paid to get my girl here? Do you know how much I'm paying every damn semester? I've been supporting this school, and if one girl that got here through scholarship would be a problem to my daughter and the school can't do anything, then I would have to transfer my daughter from here," I heard the woman arguing with the principal, and I couldn't fight back the tears that threatened to leave my eyes as I allowed them to fall freely down my cheeks. "She will be expelled, Mrs. Stewart," my heart dropped when I heard the principal's voice, and I knew that it was really over for me this time. After I was expelled from here, I wouldn't ever be admitted into
Chapter 10Mason AndrewsStanding in front of the mirror in the restroom, I felt nervous as I stared at my reflection. Dipping my hand into my inner pocket, I brought out the jewelry box I hid neatly there, and opening it, it revealed the diamond ring laying neatly inside. I was finally going to propose to my girlfriend after a few years of being together now."Be confident, Mason. Be confident," I whispered to myself, trying to stop myself from being nervous, but I couldn't. Once I was calm, I headed back into the restaurant where we were both having a date."I'm sorry that took much time. I felt really pressed," I apologized to her when I got to our seats, and she nodded her head. Melissa Joel was the prettiest woman I've ever seen all my life. She was the woman that stole my heart at first sight three years ago, and all I ever wanted was to spend the rest of my life with her. She was the definition of perfection. Sexy curvy body, long raven hair, smooth skin, 5'5 ft tall, had a pair
Chapter 11Charity POVSince going home wasn't an option for me at the moment, I headed to the park where I will be able to clear my head and maybe go home later. As I walked to the Park, people kept throwing glances at me and some of them were making comments because of how horrible I looked. I should wash myself and change my clothes, but I couldn't even think of that.'How does it feel? I told you to leave yourself' Those words replay in my head over and over again, how they were throwing insults at me, how they bullied me. Just the thought of it made me want to stop existing. For the first time in my whole years of existence, I was bullied and I couldn't even fight back, for the first time, they made me feel like a weakling, I couldn't fight for myself, and it felt so horrible."Is it my fault that I'm poor? Is it my fault that I was born like this? You wealthy people are horrible and disgusting," I yelled at the top of my voice as I stopped at the side of the road to catch my bre
Chapter 12Charity POV Following the address whoever the person was sent to me, I scoffed when I got to the penthouse and found out that it was Chase I was going to meet. When I arrived, one of the several guards led me into the spacious living room, and as much as I wanted to take my time to admire the beauty of the penthouse, knowing that this was my enemy's house, I knew better to comport myself. He soon came to the living room, dressed casually, and I wondered if he didn't go to school today, but that wasn't supposed to be my problem, right?"You came? I didn't think you would show up," he uttered, sitting on the couch and crossing his legs, and I scoffed."If I knew you were the one that called me, I wouldn't have come down here. So, don't waste my time and go straight to the point. What do you want from me this time?" I asked rudely, looking down at him as I was standing on my feet."Come, you should take a seat. We aren't fighting, are we?" He sounded sarcastic and it was anno
