Due to the amount of alcohol she had taken, Yura could feel herself becoming slightly drowsy. Nonetheless, she did not lose her senses completely yet.
Her hand held on to a wine glass as she was seated beside Ryu Yejoon on the couch. Throughout the entire time, he stared at her in desperation.
She knew how he wanted her to change her mind, and a part of her was really tempted. As he had suggested earlier, things would be simpler and happier if both of them got married.
She wouldn’t need to worry about getting hurt, and both of them were enough for each other. There was no need for some other people beside themselves.
But the bubble that they had built around them— Yura believed that both of them needed to escape that. If it wasn’t for her, she was worried about Yejoon.
If things went wrong and something happened to her, she wanted him to live on happily and not lose himself completely. The thought of that broke her heart.
She knew that she had made a lot of enemies from the next actions, and although she was the winner now, one day the game would be over for her.
Death wasn’t something she was scared of. That’s why, she did not care much about it. But it was Yejoon for whom she was concerned.
His personality was crystal clear to her. Although he was cold and detached for the most part, once he gets attached to someone, it is a different story.
It causes him to develop a state where he is not able to live without that person and would do anything to have that person. It was fair to say that he becomes obsessed.
It is easy for him to get anxious in that state, and having seen him suffer due to that once, she would do anything but having him face that again.
She just hoped that he could be at least as much as carefree as her.
The emotions he felt right then was clear to her while he tightly gripped on to her hand. He was afraid of letting go of her hand, and her chest clenched painfully at that.
It crushed her heart every time she saw him like that and made her question why did he have to go through something like that? If she could, she would give him all the happiness out there.
“Yejoon,” she said, “You know, you don’t need to be nervous. You are the person I love the most. Even if I fall in love with someone and get married to him, you will be the most precious person to me.
That’s why, I don’t want to see you torturing yourself like this. Please be happy. That’s all I want from you.”
“That’s why, be by my side. I will always be happy then,” he expressed.
She laughed and questioned, “Do you still remember the day both of us first met?”

Five year old Min Yura cheerfully ran through the garden in front of the mansion when she noticed a figure. When she spotted Jisoo, she immediately made her way over to her.
“Jisoo!” She squealed while running over to the girl.
Min Jisoo, who was of similar age to Yura, had her hair tied into pigtails. A bright smile formed on her face as she noticed Yura.
When Jisoo stopped in front of Yura, she noticed a small figure hiding behind the girl, and this made her tilt her head.
Curiosity was present in her eyes while she did so.
Pointing towards Min Jisoo, she asked, “Is there someone behind you?”
At that, Jisoo turned back and softly said, “Yejoon, come out now. You don’t have to be shy. Come on; you are a good boy!”
Slowly, the four year old Yejoon peeked his out his head from her behind her while his hand gripped on to the material of Jisoo’s clothing tightly.
He showed no signs of wanting to let go of it.
The boy looked at her with hostility in his eyes. But Yura didn’t notice that and flashed him a wide grin.
“What is you name? I am Min Yura! Do you want to be friends?”
Her words caused the boy’s eyes to widen, and this caused him to immediately hide himself behind Min Jisoo.
Jisoo then said, “Yejoon is shy. It takes him time to become friends.”

Spotting the familiar seven year old boy, Yura wanted to wave her hand at him. But remembering how Yejoon would only ignore her, she merely pulled her hand back.
Both of them were at a party today, and she had few eyes watching her. She didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of everyone
The entire time he stood at one corner of the room, and she noticed how his eyes brightened up when he spotted Jisoo. Immediately, he made his way over to her.
The scene was akin to a dog and his adored master.
Min Yura observed the scene silently, finding him to be adorable. It was sad that she couldn’t get close to him.
She noticed the wide smile that formed on his face, and her eyes widened at how beautiful he appeared over all. It was such a difference to how he always scowled at her.
“What are you staring and smiling at?”
Feeling a palm on her shoulder, she turned back, and her eyes met with those of eight year old Youngjae.
She then pointed at Yejoon and said, “Him. Don’t you think that he is really cute? Too bad, that he won’t get close to me.”
°°°
The memories caused her to start laughing loudly as she commented, “You were such a brat back then!”
Reminiscing about that managed to bring a wide smile on her face, and her eyes had a glint in them.
Who knew that this kind of relationship could form between them?
“Why does it feel as if you are leaving me behind and moving forward on your own? This is as if I am still drowning while you climbed up to the surface and are enjoying the warmth of the sun,” he expressed, “I am sorry. This came out harsher than I meant. You—”
Extending her hand towards him, she pulled him into a tight hug and patted his back. She could see how vulnerable he was right at that instant, and due to that, her heart ached a lot.
“Yejoon, I wouldn’t go anywhere. I will pull you up from that deep sea,” she stated, “No, you will have to dive up from it on your own. I will wait on the shore for you.”
“I want to stay like this forever, holding on to you like this, Yura. There is nothing that is better than this,” he voiced out.
“I want to do the same as well,” she stated, “but not every time can we indulge ourselves with the things we want, right? Life’s quite unfortunate.”
Watching Youngjae pass through the empty corridor caused her to stand in front of him and block his way. These days, there were barely opportunities for them to meet alone, and he avoided any sort of contact with her. Finally Yura was able to spot him and stop him in his steps. Seeing how the hallway was completely empty caused relief to spread through her. She did not want anyone to interfere right now. His hands were tucked into his pocket while he raised his head to look at her. There were no emotions present in his eyes, and over this period of two weeks, it had become a norm for him to stare with those eyes at her. She couldn’t put into words how much ache that brought to her. “Youngjae, why are you doing? What’s happening between the both of us? Is it really over? Did you truly throw all of it away?” she questioned— desperation present in her tone. Despite of Jisoo’s words the other day, she had a hard time accepting the truth. One part of her argued badly that this had to
“You have been already watching him for years,” he said, “you know, I am starting to think that you have some sort of feeling towards him.” He extended his hand towards her and hugged her from the back. His words caused her eyes to widen for a while before she let out a chuckle. Then, she teased, “What is that? Is that jealousy in your voiced?” “Hmm,” he responded, “I get really scary when I am jealous. That’s why, don’t look at him anymore.” In that moment, she merely took his words as a joke, and while a smirk formed on her face, she turned to face him. Then, moving her hand forward, she pinched on to his cheeks and expressed, “Yes, yes, yes. I understand. Can you even be scary at the first place?” Laughs left her mouth after that. Taking that as opportunity, he moved his head closer to her and pecked on her lips softly. Taken aback by his actions, she pecked him on his cheek once he stood up straight. “On a serious note, you have nothing to be jealous about. You are the only
With a cheerful mood, Yura started to pack the luggage. Finally, she had settled on a destination for the trip and was quite excited about it. After all, this was her first time experiencing something like this. “Are you really fine with leaving that puppy at here?” Mirae questioned. Placing her clothes inside the luggage, she raised one of her eyebrows while she turned back to Mirae, questioning what she was trying to imply. “Don’t try to act oblivious. You know who I am talking about. I am afraid that man will get a panic attack. Did you see the amount of times he called and texted you? He even started to bother me right now. What have you done to the Ryu Yejoon?” Taking in a deep breath, Yura ran her hand through her hair and voiced out, “Don’t worry! I have gotten it all under my control. He might act like that in the beginning, but after a period of time, he will be fine. Isn’t it an improvement that he is not coming to meet me?” “That’s because you made him promise him tha
Maybe she was being paranoid, but she had a feeling that someone was following after her. Min Yura did not turn back to check. Ever since she had exited the convenience store, she could feel someone after her, and after all that happened, she naturally found herself being cautious of her surroundings. There were high chances that she was merely overreacting. Upon reaching the apartment complex, she finally turned back and did not spot anyone behind her. Shaking her head, she entered into the building. Even if something was going on, she wasn’t planning to confide into someone. Knowing Yejoon’s nature, he would probably never let go of her once he got to know of this. Someone was most likely hired to keep on a eye on her. If that person held murderous intent, there was nothing she would be able to do against it. She might be able to get help from Yejoon, and this will be solved if he got involved. But right now, she wasn’t planning to get him into anything until she stabilized him
The last thing he could clearly recall was someone familiar shouting his name, and after that, his mind had gone completely blank. The face that he could remember brightly smiling was growing pale by each passing second while she laid on her arms. When he failed to notice that incoming car, he did not expect that she would come out of nowhere to push him out of the way only to end up this way due to her hasty decision. Blood dripped down from her forehead while he tightly hugged her figure. He wasn’t able to think straight at that moment. The only thought running in his mind was that he wouldn’t let go of this warmth. All of his senses went dull, and the people that gathered around both of them did not catch his attention. Although everyone was creating a ruckus around him, the sounds did not reach him. His body shook while he could feel the warmth leaving her body each second. He did not know what to do. He was willing to do anything to have her open her eyes. While he held her
“I think he feels way too guilty to enter,” she said, “Do you want to call him in?” Knowing his personality, Yura knew that he was blaming himself and voiced out, “Hmm.” She was aware now he wouldn’t be at peace until he saw her and had no intentions of making him suffer. “You know, wouldn’t it be better if you ignore him right now? Finally, there is a good enough reason for you two to separate. Looking at it right now, it doesn’t seem that he will approach you on his own.” Yura understood what Mirae was trying to mean. Probably she would be able to put distance between both of them if she utilized this time. Although that was really cruel, this could be her only chance to do this, and a part of her was trying to consider this. “How is his current state?” Yura asked. “It has been looking better,” Mirae answered, “It was way worse when you were unconscious. He would have probably lost his mind if something had happened to you.” Yura let out a sigh and stated, “I will consider wh
“Strange,” Mirae expressed while she stepped into the room. “He is not waiting for you today.” Hearing that caught Yura’s attention, and raising one of her eyebrows, she voiced out, “Is that so?” Mirae nodded her head and made her way over to Yura. Sitting beside her, she stated, “Aren’t you worried over it?” “Not exactly,” she replied, “he had been here for a long time and might have piled up a lot of work. It makes sense for him to be busy with work.” She would be lying if she mentioned that this did not make her anxious. Nonetheless, she preferred to think as positively as she could. Since things were all fine currently, she did not thing that he would be doing anything wrong. “The doctor mentioned about how you can be discharged within two to three days,” Mirae voiced out, “I was really looking forward to this trip. Too bad, it was cancelled. I don’t think I will be able to take another break from work.” “It’s fine,” she answered, “I can just go on one on my own.” Mirae sh
From his expression, she could judge that Ryu Yejoon wasn’t exactly willing to go through this, and because of her solemn gaze, he nodded his head. She noticed how a pout appeared on his face while he lowered his gaze to stare down. Reminding her of a puppy again, she extended her hand towards him and patted the top of his head. “Good boy,” she stated. Staring at her with a somewhat serious expression on his face, he stated, “Only one year. You wouldn’t be able to run away from me for more than that. If you try to, then I will tie you up and keep you by my side.” Instead of getting angered due to his words, she let out a chuckle and said, “How domineering! But since it is you, I accept. You are really cute when you are saying such things.” He stayed silent and let her brush his head further. This felt quite pleasant to him, and he wanted this to continue forever, which was surely possible. “Can you not go and visit Lee Youngjae? It doesn’t make me comfortable,” he expressed in a
