27: Angelic Hero

I called myself dumb in many different ways when I saw just how dark it had gotten when I left the park. And of all, I chose today to not come out with my phone.

I don’t even know what I was thinking. Or rather, wasn’t thinking. But I couldn’t order an uber and there were no signs of cabs anywhere on the street. I knew about this so why did I let myself lose track of time? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!!!

To be fair, I had completely zoned out.

I had no choice but to walk. It was even better than going to find a bus station because it was farther than where I was heading.

My head was down and my steps were quick. I had one goal and that was getting home safely.

“Ahhh,” I cursed when I felt a burn on my chest.

It was sharp and extremely painful. I couldn’t keep going because of the pain so I leaned against one of the walls where I was walking. There wasn’t much light here and I wanted to keep walking forward. But my knees felt too weak and the pain was just getting worse.
