"I love you, Mrs. Elaine Henderson."

Double of these three words. They were like daggers flying to her chest.

Three words that Elaine had longed to hear from Cannon back then. That he loved her and acknowledged her as his wife. Two things, he never did. Not even in his facade. But now that he finally said them, these words had lost all their meaning to her. And she wasn't sure if he was even serious or he was just saying all these without meaning it.

Elaine wondered. Was saying 'I love you' to someone whom you didn't really love that easy? Would anyone do it just to get..

"Elaine?" Cannon softly uttered her name pulling her out of her thoughts as he stared at her, realizing how emotionally raw and vulnerable he felt at that moment.

"I thought people get to be called like that after getting married or before that and here for me, it's happening after getting divorced only. Should I be happy for this?"

"Elaine, please. We aren't divorced. We are.."

"Right. We aren't divorced. Because fo
