“I’m sorry. We can’t be together.”
Those words left his mouth. She wanted to scream at him. He turned his back on her and walked away. She stayed rooted on the ground, watching another woman walk by his side. They were smiling and laughing. It could have been her walking by his side. But he didn’t want her anymore.
Jazmine gasped as she woke up from her sleep. Something was pressed against her back, and she couldn’t see anything. Everything was dark.
“Don’t move too much. You’d fall,” a deep voice said from behind.
She could feel the person’s breath against her neck. Jazmine’s heart thumped against her chest when she felt the familiar feeling once again. A pair of strong arms wrapped around her
Liam had just finished showering when his phone vibrated on the bed. He checked the text that came in. Brandon had informed him that he already returned and was on his way to meet up. After putting on his clothes, Liam grabbed his car key and left a note on the table in the living room before meeting with Brandon. It was an hour of drive to the meeting place. The moment Liam saw Brandon getting in his car, he noticed the gamma’s face looked tired and dark circles were evident around his eyes.“You didn’t have a good sleep?” Liam asked.Brandon took a deep breath and handed out the report he had finished while riding on the airplane. Liam looked through the file, and a long sigh left his mouth. It seemed Jazmine was entangled deeply into her uncle’s past.
Liam drove his truck with Brandon in the passenger’s seat when suddenly the Beta felt uneasy with the black van parked at the driveway. There was something unusual about the black van, although he knew they were there for Jazmine. Unable to shrug off his uneasiness, he stopped his car next to the van. Brandon and Liam got out of the car and checked around the van. If it was true that the van was the home for two bodyguards tasked to protect Jazmine, they should have made some noise from the inside. It didn’t matter what sort of noise. It could be the noise of typing on the keyboard or heartbeat, but the Beta and Gamma didn’t hear anything. The van was in dead silence. Brandon reached for the door and looked at him to tell him that the door wasn’t locked. He was about to slide the door open when Liam pushed the Gamma to the side before the van exploded. Brandon and Liam were thrown off and landed roughly against other cars in the vicinity.
Liam could only stare at Jay Bernard, whose eyes filled with rage. It was unfitting to find out the young boss was actually something else. He wanted to find out why Jay had been keeping an eye on Jazmine and what kind of species he was. But Liam had to withhold his questions as he ran towards the direction that Brandon took. He had to regroup with the gamma and eliminate those mercenaries that were hunting them down. He heard the sound of footsteps and gunshots. Liam picked up his pace, hoping it wasn’t too late to aid his comrade. He looked to his right and left and didn’t see Jay anywhere. Too many questions flooded Liam’s mind, but he hoped Jay wasn’t another villain. Liam eliminated the mercenaries one by one on his end, while Brandon took care from another end. Despite their injuries, the two werewolves held up to the end of the battle. When the final m
“So, you two are a couple now?” Anita asked. After waking up in the morning, Jazmine and Anita were the only ones left in the cottage. A note was left on the table in the living room saying that Liam had left for some business. Jazmine thought it was a nice chance for her to have a heart-to-heart conversation with Anita. “I don’t...know yet….” Jazmine said sheepishly. “I’m sorry that I kept too many secrets from you,” Anita said. “It’s just hard to tell other people about it.” “Confidentiality, right?” Anita nodded. “We were not supposed to say anything about our pack to anyone even if we already left the pack. But if Liam already told you a thing or two, it should be alright. After all, he’s the Beta.”
Liam paced back and forth as Zidane read the file he had recovered during his investigation. Some files were telling the details about Jazmine and the fact that she wasn’t a human. But there was no telling what kind of species she was. Apparently, the real mission of June Lab was to replicate Jazmine’s DNA. After an experiment went wrong, Jazmine was sent to her uncle, Richard Diaz. This was like the fifteenth time he had read the file, as if the information on the paper would change in each reading. Liam couldn’t stop thinking that Jazmine was actually the daughter of Valentino Darragh, who mysteriously had gone missing since the war with Angel of Death and Knights of Death. Liam thought there was another person named Valentino Darragh. He didn’t expect it to be the same Valentino Darragh that his Alpha pair had spent months trying to track down. The only re
Liam and Cohen rested inside an abandoned ship in the shipyard. Cohen checked the map he had marked to make sure they didn’t miss a point. From the look of it, the place was almost deserted. There was no sign of life except for the few cars that came and went from the shipyard. “It’s weird to see this,” Cohen said, pointing to the ugly lines he marked on the map. Those lines were the directions of the cars that came and went. The more he looked at it, the more he thought the shipyard was more than just a shipyard. The cars stopped at the largest abandoned ship in the middle of the shipyard. Liam looked at him briefly before another group of cars arrived in the shipyard. This time, they stopped in front of the large ship. They dragged someone who was tied and the head was hidden by a black bag.
“Okay, this is what we have so far,” Cohen said as he laid out the map on the table. He began to explain the points one by one, making sure everyone was able to fully grasp the situation. Cohen knew that they couldn’t directly go for a full attack as they didn’t know anything about their enemy. Their only best lead was to look at the big ship in the shipyard and hopefully to find a clue where the entrance would be. “We will move out soon. Please brief your Enforcers,” Cohen said. “Yes, of course.” Zidane agreed. “My Enforcers are ready to leave with you as soon as you give the word, Alpha.” All the Alphas and Beta left the office. Liam sat down by the bench, watching the Alphas briefing the Enforcers. Liam’s hands were trembling on his thighs as fear grew inside of h
“YOU’RE LYING!” Jazmine screamed at the top of her lungs as she lunged herself towards Rowan. He laughed sadistically as he took a step back faster than her step forward. The door slid closed and Jazmine bumped against the cold door. She cried her heart out as she slid down to the floor. There was no way it was true that she was the killer of her own mother. What kind of a daughter would she be if her mother died in her hands? Jazmine stared at the paused video on the wall. She had ignored Richard’s warning about using the power of her hands. Now, she had killed a woman who gave birth to her. “Dad, what have I done?” Jazmine sobbed on the floor. Rowan walked smugly out of the block and headed to his office, not far from there where he could monitor Jazmine through ma
