CHAPTER TWELVE: CROSSING THE BRIDGE

The crash of waves and circles of foam as it swept ashore across the sand forced Purple to retreat backward in fear. She had never been to a beach before, so the rushing breeze, the clear, wide, sky, and the water seemed so strange to her.

"C'mon, the water won't bite," Lucas said, chuckling.

Purple stared hard at him. He seemed to enjoy making fun of her

"C'mon,' he repeated "Let's go swimming,"

"But I cannot swim,"

"I'll teach you, let's go,"

Purple connected her hand to his powerful hulk, and he led her to the pool at a secluded part of the beach. As she stepped into the water that felt like ice on her skin, she shuddered.

"I need you to relax, okay?" Lucas said, placing his hands on his shoulders.

When he felt her muscles relax, he kept one hand on her stomach, giving her the aid she needed to slide slowly but freely into the water.

"This is wonderful," Purple exclaimed, her hands slapping the water.

"Is it? How about you try it yourself,"

"Okay, let me try,"
