CHAPTER 33: A WISH AND THREE PRESENTS

Meredith's POV:

I make my way to Sarah’s room, but she isn’t in there. My feet begin to move on their own accord to the library, but she is also nowhere to be found. And it isn’t just Sarah; it is everyone. Where could they all be?

The last place I could think of is the swimming pool, so I head right there. The second I push open the door, my jaw touches the floor, and tears instantly sting my eyes.

“SURPRISE!”

I remained dumbfounded and speechless for the first few seconds.

There are balloons and streamers everywhere. Sarah has the widest smile out of everyone here; my eyes fall on the cake in her hands, reading ‘Happy birthday, Mer', and that is when the dam officially broke.

The cake wasn’t as big as the one I usually get back home, but it still meant a lot.

“Sarah, what is all this?” I asked, wiping away the tears that were streaming down my cheeks. My efforts were futile, considering that more only poured out.

“Your birthday party, of course! I told Madam Estrid about today,
