Chapter 2

"Good evening, maam," I bowed in greetings, and she quickly covered her nose, twitching her face as she sneered at me and the room, which no matter how much I cleaned it would always look like a dungeon because everything was worn-out and crying for a change.

"You must be waiting for me and my husband to finish eating so you can go lick up our leftovers." She sniggered. "To save you the stress, we finished everything, so stop having hopes, little girl." she scowled and my heart sank into my stomach, tears prickling my eyes while I fought to push them back.

She laughed scornfully and drew closer to me. I felt her mouth close to my ears as her hot breath fanned my neck, making me really irritated.

"I wasn't the one who made that horny whore mother of yours to open legs for vampires, So stop crying for me.." She whispered and burst into another derisive laughter, flipping her hair as she moved away from me.

it was as if my heart was sliced with a thousand knives. Her words really hurt that I felt like the ground should open and swallow me.

My mother died without giving me an explanation of who my real father was or why she committed such a taboo. Now everyone can cook up whatever lies they want, using their abuses to torture me.

"Well, listen to me, dirty pig!" Laura snapped, and I wiped my tears, looking up at her with anger in my eyes, but she knew how useless it was. There was absolutely nothing I could do to her.

"My twin children are returning. A handsome guy and the most beautiful girl you will ever see. They decided to complete their studies here after spending almost all their lives in the US. After your torture tonight, make sure to recover quickly so you can tidy this whole building tomorrow before they arrive. If you fail to do that...you know what comes next." She snorted and walked away, swaying her hips proudly as I fumed, wishing I could pounce on her and rip out those lousy tongues.

I slumped back on my bed, and it made that very annoying creaky noise as if it would collapse. I shut my eyes, and the thought of these twins of her flashed through my mind. I wonder what they would look like and, most importantly, how they would treat me.

I didn't expect a warm treatment or any kind of affection, but at least they should add to my pain. Laying my back on the bed and gazing up at the old and cracked wooden ceiling, I could only wonder what the future holds for me. It had been a year and I hadn't met my father, or rather a foster father since my life is fucked up by some random vampire out there.

It is just all crooked and twisted how the strangest horror could erupt from somewhere you never imagined. In all my years living with my known father and mother, there had been no reason for doubt. My mother was so good at conceiving this secret.

The most devastating part is that there was actually no way I would find out who my true father was. I was just so fucked up and destroyed, and the fact that I was going through heart-wrenching tortures every full moon because of the random vampire makes my heart boil in rage. My mother was just so selfish and wicked to keep the secret to death, not even giving me a hint as her daughter.

She left me to suffer all this alone, preventing them from killing me. What in hell is my reason for being alive then?

Tears, as usual, formed in my eyes, washing down my face. While I sobbed, I couldn't even wrap my head around why I was crying at that moment.

Just then, my door was kicked open again, and a bodyguard marched in, jolting me up as I hissed sadly at the fact that anyone could just barge into my room anytime and anyhow without knocking. I should hope for more because, in their eyes, I was an enemy and far from being one of them.

"Hey, bloodsucker, you ain't eating those leftovers, huh? You can go pack the plates then before the Alpha notices they are still there since they finished eating!" He scoffed, and I arched my brows in surprise.

"There are leftovers? They didn't finish it?" I asked, standing to my feet as my stomach grumbled louder with a twinge that made me gasp as I swallowed hard to contain the pain. If the foods were finished, the maids would pack them, but if there were leftovers, I would eat them and do the packing.

Does it mean that Laura lied to me?

"This place stinks!" He snorted and hurried away, while I burst into a wild run to the dining room. Just as I pushed the door open, my jaw dropped as I saw the leftover food on the plates. It was packed for me, but one of Luna's personal maids was feeding it to dogs.

"Are you here for this?" She asked as soon as she noticed me standing at the door, but my eyes were glued to the tongues of the dogs on the dishes, from the potatoes to the rice, vegetables, and meats. All that in their little portions could be enough to tame my hunger till the next day, adding that I needed to eat so I could bear the torture this night.

"If you're finally here to eat all these, I can...you know...stop the dogs from eating further and allow you to have the rest." She taunted, snickering as she pushed more plates to the dogs, who hungrily pounced on them.

It really hurt, but the last thing I could allow was to shed a single tear for this maid.

"So you feed dogs now? I didn't know. You should actually be fast with that so you can return to being the dumb maid, controlled by the Luna like a wimp." I responded, laughing at her in the most mocking way, and I didn't really know how much my insult could hit her so hard.

She stood in anger, her cheeks flushing red as tears formed in her eyes.

"I am not a toy like you, bitchy vampire." She insulted me, trying to cover up, but I laughed harder.

"You are really pathetic, having lost your freedom. She told you to feed the dogs with this, and you think it's the right time to taunt me with it. Oh, sis, try getting a better life where you aren't wrapped around someone's finger, receiving all slaps, knocks, and spits on your face." I scorned, reminding her of the day I saw her beaten like a puppet by the Luna.

She couldn't bear my taunting anymore, rushing at me with an attempt to punch my face, but she was too slow; I was able to dodge all of it so easily, and unfortunately for her, she had little or no balance.

The next minute, she had already toppled onto the table, sprawling a few of the jars and teacups on it. They fell and broke.

"You see what you have caused, you evil girl!" She cried out, but I only used the remaining strength to give her another shot of laughter before walking away. My vision was becoming blurry, and my brain was hazy from stressing out my fatigued body. The starvation really hit me hard; I almost fell.

It was getting dark slowly, and I knew it was only a few minutes before the torture would begin.

Standing at my door, I suddenly felt the urge to sneak out and wander into the woods down to my favorite pond, where I spent most of my time back then when life was still fair to me.

Sneaking out was something I hadn't thought of before because I was really scared, and I really can't tell why it crept into my mind and was already bubbling inside me.

The urge to ignite my wolf senses and roam through the forest and woods, feeling once more what it felt like to be free, was all that brimmed inside of me.

It would have been more fun if I could shift into my wolf form and glide together with other wolves of my age who would also be enjoying the winter evening, but unfortunately, I am not a normal wolf and I only have an inner wolf who has no idea how to shift anymore.

"Yes, let's sneak out fast! I can't wait any longer!!" My wolf, Sienna, howled and kicked at me in urgency, as if she would die if I changed my mind.

"What if we get caught?!" I sighed.

"What if we don't get caught?!" She replied almost immediately, kicking me again.

"It's risky, especially with the kind of hatred everyone has for us. We..."

"Life is all about risk!!" She shouted, and I couldn't hold my laughter.

"We will be whipped 20 times for this!"

"That's if they even find out. And tonight, we already have an excruciating torture waiting for us. Let's just have this moment to savor." She whined, and I nodded.

"But...."

"No Buts.... We haven't attempted to sneak out before. They won't expect this, and we won't take long before returning. No one really cares about us and won't notice we are out for these few minutes! Remember how busy they all are in preparation of the full moon festival tonight." She coaxed in enthusiasm, as if there were something special she kept outside.

"We can actually stay out of trouble by entering our room and lying still. This risk might not be worth it. We have no friend." I tried to make her resign, but she was adamant and sulked in sadness. I felt so bad for her.

I mean, it wasn't her fault to be assigned as my wolf by the moon goddess, and it had really been a cruel fate for her. If she was given a second chance, there was no way she would accept to be my wolf again because all she had been facing since I made the first shift had been pain and different kinds of suffering and humiliations.

"Alright, let's get dressed up!" I chirped, and she leaped in excitement, pulling my legs forward so much that I almost fell.

"Do you have a boyfriend out there that I don't know about? You're too eager!" I tittered as I began to search for my hooded long-sleeved jacket, which could hide my face a little.

"I think we will find our mate outside!." My wolf remarked, forcing a surprise look all over my face as I raised my brows and my lips quirked in a lopsided smile.

"Yes... Let's go look for him since he had refused to meet us all these years." I winked and quickly dressed up.
