13. All Is Fair In Love And War

"We should make our way to the ballroom.” Mother said pointedly while she stared at the door.

“I am ready to leave,” I said pointedly before I nervously fixed the silky material on my red dress Mother just silently looked at me and without showing any further interest in me, she dismissively waved the white satin fan in her hand.

“Your brother and father are waiting for us at the entrance of the ballroom.” She said blankly before she left the room and I knew that she was ignoring me because she was unhappy with the choice I made, knowing that it would be announced at the end of the night.

I silently followed her outside of the house that was prepared for us by the people of house Valaires. ‘Tis a beautiful house, and the weather here is much like the weather we have back at house Arcadius, warm and sunny. Which is probably why I do not feel out of the ordinary here.
