It was dark. They had taken the courtesy of turning the lights off, making sure it was pitch black, nothing was visible. She gave her eyes some time to adjust to the darkness and even still, she couldn’t make out anything. She tried to bring up her picture memory from when she was a child: she had spent a lot of time in this basement as a kid and it was not for the right reasons.
