She pulled her bag from the rack and ran out of the house, she was late and she hated being late. It wasn't exactly her fault, or maybe it was, her nightmares from last night had been terrible and she'd taken a little more than the usual dose of her sleeping pills, the consequences were what she was facing this morning.
She worked for the Williams family, an upper class, wealthy snobs that treated her like trash but she couldn't care less, the pay was good so she simply went, took care of the boys, and tried to mind her business, although that was hard considering how Mr. Williams was beginning to find it hard to keep his old, wrinkled hands to himself.
Alita had begun fending for herself from a very young age, she'd had no one to depend on so she did it all by herself, she had withstood too many obstacles and was prepared to withstand many more, it was why her employer's behavior didn't faze her or made her want to run for the hills immediately. She knew men like him, they had the perfect little house, wife, kids, and jobs, from the outside it might look as though they had it all but they didn't, they'd grown bored, going golfing and fishing with the boys didn't do much to lit up the entertainment sparks so they look and see their domestic help, and they think to themselves that this was the perfect person to give in to what they seek... It was just unfortunate that Alita wasn't that type of girl, and nothing, not even him threatening to make sure she lost her job had made her change her mind, although she'd been scared a little yet again she thought to herself that he had his name to protect more than hers, and so nothing would be happening.
The walk from the substation was a short one and soon enough she was making her way up the house. She knocked before letting herself in, as usual, silence met her which wasn't abnormal, sometimes Mrs. Williams had left for work already leaving the twins under the care of the housekeeper.
"Good morning." She greeted letting her voice ring out in the vast sitting room as she made her way up the stairs, towards the boy's room just as a voice stopped her.
"Good morning Alita," Mrs. Williams said from downstairs, Alita turned and saw her still dressed in her sleeping robe, which was weird but none of her business.
"Hi, good morning." She said cheerfully heading back down, Mrs. Williams wasn't a bad employer, as bad as her husband that was but she was insecure and had only hired Alita if she agreed to wear only baggy and unattractive clothes to work, it had been a strange request but she hadn't mind, she had been desperate for a job and she'd have taken anything at that time.
"We need to talk." Mrs. Williams said taking a sip of her usual morning coffee, her eyes cold as they settled on Alita.
Her heartbeat accelerated, Oh God! No.
"Oh, okay." She said not letting any of her nervousness seep into her tone.
"I know," She said giving her that same look, Alita's face held confusion immediately.
"Excuse me?" She asked.
"Don't you dare play dumb with me?" She said in an edgy voice.
"I'm not playing dumb, I... I don't understand what's going on." She said stuttering.
"You and my husband?" And she let out cynic laughter. "You think I wouldn't find out?"
Alita could swear that for a few seconds after, her heart stopped beating. What the hell was going on? What did Mrs. Williams know? Had her husband gone on to take action following his threats? The numerous unanswered questions piled up in her head.
"I should have known." She said approaching her slowly. "I should have known that you were nothing but a little slut who tried to snatch my husband."
Alita shook her head desperately. "That isn't true.""Really? What is the truth then? Go on, tell me." She urged.
"I have nothing going on with..."
"Don't you dare lie to me! He has confessed everything, how it was just a momentary thing but then you began threatening him, how dare you! Do you think because he had sex with you, his whole world should revolve around you? Asking him to divorce me unless you'd inform him yourself." She asked laughing.
Alita was stunned, where the hell was that coming from? That fucking old nitwit! He had lied to his wife, spun this whole story to his wife even going as far as implicating himself just to make her suffer for refusing his advances.
"I swear he's not telling the truth, I..."
The rest of her words dying in her lips when Mrs. Williams hand swung and came down on her cheeks, Alita gasped.
"You dare to accuse my husband of lying, you little slut! You must think you're special huh, look around, all these luxuries, they must have been so attractive to you, the closet you'd ever get to being surrounded by things like this and because you're a lowlife scheming, greedy bitch, you wanted it, you wanted everything and seduced my husband." As she spoke, she walked closer to Alita until there was barely any space left between them. "I know my husband and I know of his little hobby of looking outside, I'm not stupid Alita, but to have the audacity to come into my home and attempt to steal everything I've worked hard to build, no sweetheart, not under my watch!"
"I swear you have to believe me, ma'am, he's only angry because I refused to have anything to do with him! I've never had and I will never have anything to do with your husband, I swear you have to believe me!" She begged in a desperate voice because she was always desperate for a job. After all, not having one meant no shelter over her head or food.
It must be nice, for people who had grown up having everything handed to them and had barely ever had to work for half the things they enjoyed, the sort of people who were born with so much luck, they barely knew what to do with it, the ones who simply had to snap and they had the world at their feet, she had no idea what that felt like and she knew she'd never, it was why she begged, begged as her life depended on it because it did, she fell to her knees throwing her pride away.
"You have to believe me, ma'am, I respect you too much to do anything like that. I swear it." She begged as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Get the hell away from me!" She screamed.
"This is all him, he knew you were going to do this if he said all he'd said. He knew you were going to forgive him and take it out on him. Why won't you just believe me? I did nothing wrong, he's the pervert who uses every opportunity to sexually harass me and..."
The rest of her words died in her lips when she felt hot liquid run down her hair, down her face, the hotness didn't even cause her to flinch, she'd frozen instead, at the shock of it all, the embarrassment and degrading of having hot coffee poured over her head while she knelt at the feet of someone else begging and crying over something she didn't do."Get up and get the hell out of here before I call the police!" Mrs. Williams yelled kicking her so hard, she landed on the floor and for a minute, her vision blurred.
Alita felt nothing but self-pity for herself, she wished she'd just die instead, anything better than living a life as pathetic as this one.
Benson was going crazy, it all seemed like a dream, one he needed to wake up from immediately. It had been two hours since he'd found the baby in front of his apartment, he'd called his assistant and currently, they were both standing inside his apartment staring at the child as though she was some sort of alien."What do we do next sir?" His assistant, Luke asked turning to him.He sighed, this made no sense, why would someone -anyone- drop a baby in front of his home? And still, having the audacity to tell him to take care of her? Like he was obliged to."I'm thinking." He said in reply."Do you think she could be uh..."He let his words trail when Benson sent him a searing glare. His mind had gone there at first, he'd done a mental calculation of all the women he'd been within the last months but then like a slap to the face, reality had hit him so fast when he remembered that was impossible, he couldn't father a child, not if he t
"Oh God, Alita!" She heard her best friend exclaim as she made her way into her apartment, she knew it was a mess, she was a mess. She'd gotten home and began thrashing everything and everywhere, it was a far cry from the kind of person she was but after she was done, it had felt right, to have settled herself in the middle of the chaos and think, think of what the hell she was meant to do next. Mrs. Williams had her physically thrown out of her home spewing degrading names at her while she was kicked out, Alita had never felt so humiliated."That damn woman! I'm going to kill her!" Sarah swore, pulling her into a hug, she smelt right, and felt right, at least her best friend was here, it was going to be fine, but she found herself bawling a few seconds later."It's okay, it's okay," Sarah repeated stroking her hair soothingly, she let her cry until she'd had her fill."Now that the waterworks are done and over with, let's talk about h
It was pitch black darkness before Alita felt a tap on her shoulder, tap, tap, and tap again. She felt a warm furry building in her stomach. She always hated it when Sarah woke her up like that, and she had told her but Sarah insisted it was the only way she would wake her up and make sure she wouldn’t get back to sleep after answering her name and sitting up on the bed.Alita had her pills to thank for her sleepy head. It was unfortunate it was how she could sleep sound and she was always far too deep asleep whenever she took them. She always wondered how her alarm always did the trick. She had never actually believed she always went back to sleep after Sarah wakes her up by just calling her name as she has demanded to if her alarm always woke her up.It felt like she had just closed her eyes and was bout to fall asleep when she felts Sarah’s tiny surprisingly painful hands slap her shoulder.“Ugh,” Alita
"Who likes to be deemed impotent?” Benson muttered nudging his door open. The baby in his hands clamped down his exploding emotions. If some woman didn’t decide to be selfishly irresponsible, he wouldn’t be n this mess right now. He slowed down when he heard the baby moan. His heart skipped and terror gripped him. No, not again. He wasn’t ready for another episode. He had woken up to an alarm that rang earlier than usual, in fact, he rarely set his alarm at all. He was the boss so, except he needed to make it to work very early, there was no need to rush. No one bosses the boss around. She cut his sleep short with a loud ear deafening scream. He woke up and just froze. He had no idea what to do. In fact, he had even forgotten everything about the baby. He didn’t know what to give the baby to shut her up. He had to go on the internet and search for reasons why a baby would cry in the morning. He felt his dumbest when he realized that it was because they were hungry and most babies
As Sarah approached the door to their apartment on her way home from work, she considered the possibility of meeting everything scattered like the previous day. Alita had most likely exploded again, and she was probably blaming herself for talking too much or something.Sarah considered calling Alita to inform her, but decided it would be better to inform her in person knowing dully well that this decision was at the expense of returning home to a wreck, just like the day before.Alita is a composed and well-controlled individual. She is almost always in the midst of everything and prefers to ride the flow of life to wherever it takes her rather than using force and being brusque, even when necessary. However, when she snaps, she truly snaps. She goes berserk and does things you'd never expect her to do.Sarah hoped she would open the door and see Alita. If she wasn't at home, she was probably at a bar, drinking excessively and on the verge of doin
Benson kept a close eye on Alita as she walked away. He promised to keep his thoughts pure, but as he silently promised himself, his thoughts were too quick, and his infatuation had grown from a smolder to full-fledged sexual fantasies. In his mind's eye, he had her in his arms and he was taking gentle nibbles at her neck. He'd do anything at that moment to satisfy his desires. Damn Ben, get out of your head, he told himself as he turned his face away from the door and closed his eyes tightly so that all he could see was a black space in his mind, but his thoughts were stronger than him, not that he wanted to fight it. His thoughts went on more vividly. It felt too real to be a fantasy. As his mind let him see, she returned and jumped him, wrapping her legs around him and kissing him passionately, and he is completely taken aback. He pressed his hands against her waist and wrapped his arms around her waist. He moaned as the warmth from her body sent chill
The first times you do something are always crucial and are usually etched in your memory. You never forget about them. As a result, you do everything possible to make a good first impression. So make sure you don't get labeled a loser on your first day of school, or you'll have to live with it for the rest of your life. Alita wanted to make a good first impression at work so she could progress from there. She got up early and dressed before she had to leave for his house. Benson had mailed his address to her, so she knew where to go. Sarah was surprised and impressed when she awoke to find she had already completed her preparations for her first day at her new job. The strangest thing Sarah couldn't figure out was why Alita kept staring at her wristwatch. Even stranger, she wasn't a watch wearer. Alita hadn't worn a wristwatch in a very long time. She simply does not wear watches. Sarah, on the other hand, kept her thoughts to herself, taking in and digesting what was going on. Th
10.It was the end of her first week, and Alita would receive her first paycheck at the end of the day. She was ecstatic and couldn't wait for the day to be over. She had already planned how she would spend the money. She had secretly planned a surprise for Sarah as a token of her appreciation for getting her the job. She simply had to do something. It was only right, and she was confident Sarah would do the same. Yes, because Sarah was a splurger, even if Alita would never admit it to her face. It's a good thing she had a steady stream of good money coming in from working for Benson, because otherwise their lives would be miserable. Sarah just never stopped to consider how much she spends and how it affects her. She only spends, which is fortunate for both of them. It had never had much of an impact on her. Sarah would see a shoe or a gown or anything she liked and go get it right away, regardless o
