Chapter 17: The Bonfire
Ellie finally made it through her torturous week. Saturday came and with it the promise of a reprieve from campus and magical beings. She would be going to the bonfire. Sam and Meredith, too. She thought Firash and Jake might be coming but she hadn't allowed herself time alone with Jake this week so she didn't know what he was planning to do today. The group had been strangely quiet about the bonfire since the Alpha's visit. Ellie assumed they would remember, but she was planning to go regardless.
Ellie pulled on a jacket to cover her shirt and went to knock on Sam's door. She could hear Meredith talking inside the room.
"Do you think he is going to be able to keep his wolf in check, seeing her with Stefano?" Sam's voice said softly.
"He's going to have to. He can't be with her, it's not fair of him to tell her to wait forever while they figure this out." Meredith replied reasonably.

Ellie froze in fear, holding onto Stefano's hand tightly, watching the eyes of the wolves as they slowly walked toward them. "Do you think they're friendly?" Ellie asked Stefano in a whisper. Ellie's head was pounding, she wasn't able to focus on anything other than the sharp stabbing pain in the back of her head. She groaned and rolled on her side, noticing that her hands were tied and her eyes blindfolded. She couldn't tell where she was but she was lying on a hard surface, her hands secured behind her back. "Easy, there," a voice said next to her. She felt a hand come up to her shoulder and help ease her into a sitting position. "You took a nasty fall to the head. You probably have a concussion." 'This is really not good,' Ellie thought to herself.'What?! What's not good?' the voice asked inside her head.'Oh shit, maybe I should hide!' Ellie was nestled in between two warm bodies and once she had eaten her burger her eyes felt heavy. She drifted to sleep, her head dropping onto Stefano's shoulder. He reached around her and pulled her into his arms, nestling her against his chest protectively. He watched her sleep, her features soft in the setting sun. The day had passed and Sunday was coming to a close. He had planned a date for her today, but it would have to wait for another day. Ellie changed for bed, walked to the washroom, and took a quick shower. Ellie wasn't the type of person to skip class, but she ran out of her art class, waving to Sam as she rushed to get to the walkway to town. She wanted to meet Stefano before she went to Astronomy class. She didn't have much time, but she decided being late today wasn't the end of the world. Ellie sat in class with Amanda, taking notes blindly as her thoughts went wild. She went over the words that Stefano had said. She repeated them in her mind, over and over. Ellie avoided Sam and Meredith for over a week before they finally caught up to her the following Saturday morning.
