Elaine stared at herself in the mirror for the dozenth time that morning then let out a sigh. After returning home unusually early from work the previous day, she had locked herself up in her room, not even bothering to step out for dinner, doing nothing but thinking and reflecting on the previous day’s occurrences. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get Alexander's not so nice words out of her head. How he reminded her of her place and how he had unintentionally given her a huge task to work towards completing. The task of trying to prove she wasn't just a maid. To prove she could do well as his personal assistant, regardless of her background or every other factor that made it seem like she couldn't. With another sigh, she tugged at her gown and stepped out of her room. Just like Alexander said, she was going to pretend yesterday didn't happen and have her new first day at work go smoothly. Luckily for her, it didn't seem like Frank was home, making it easy for h
With an eyebrow raise, he turned to leave the major dressing room, heading to the familiar path to Dominique's office. It was a two way thing, either he was in his fashion studio, whipping up new designs or he was in his office, sitting with his legs crossed and doing lesser energy consuming activities. Hoping it was the latter, he headed straight to his office. That was going to be the only way he would be able to get him to talk to him with his attention fully on him. His little prayer got accepted as the moment he set foot into his cousin's office, he spotted him seated on one of the rather comfortable looking sofas, serving wine into a glass. "Alexander?" Dominique failed to hide his surprise on seeing his cousin. "What are you doing here? Aw, did you miss me?" "You wish," he scoffed, taking a seat next to him. "I'm here to get new clothes." "For yourself? So randomly?" He hesitated before replying, yanking the wine glass from his cousin as he did. "No. I'm getting Elaine new
“Oh my, you look different!” Elaine smiled lightly at the compliment from Rachael as she walked into the office, Alexander leading the way with quicker steps. After a very quiet ride, they finally got to the office and just like he seemed to have promised himself, Alexander was completely ignoring her. It was something she had gotten used to though. For a second, she almost thought he had changed and was going to be less cold around her since he was nice enough to take her shopping but even before those thoughts could settle, he had managed to whip them out of her mind. She didn’t completely understand him though. What did she have to do with him not wanting to get married? His marriage was his business with his dad and before she could voice out her confusion, he walked away from her and plunged them into nothing but awkward silence ever since. “I was worried about you,” Rachael continued, sympathetically. “You know, after what happened. Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” “I
“This way, ma’am.” Elaine bowed lightly at the guard in front of her as he helped her out of the car, towards the restaurant a couple of meters away. Apparently she was to be on a date. With Frank Xavier. Alexander’s father. She felt shivers run down her spine as she recollected the day’s events. After an averagely eventful day, she had hoped to just go home with Alexander and prepare for her next day of work only for her to be approached unexpectedly by a man that claimed to be Frank’s personal chauffeur. It was more of an order than a request as he informed her of Frank’s plan to have them have a dinner date that night. Before she speak up, he confirmed Alexander knowing about the plans and from the look in his eyes, she knew he was being serious. Thus she was left with no choice but to sheepishly nod and go with him, more than thankful Rachael wasn’t in sight. They drove straight to a clothing store and on the chauffeur’s orders, Elaine was stripped off her formal office
Dressed in one of the dozens of office wears Alexander had gotten her, Elaine held onto a pretty bag also gotten from Alexander and patiently waited by his car for him to show up. She had purposely skipped breakfast after barely having an appetite and was ready to just get to work. It was a long exhausting night and she couldn’t be more glad morning had dawned already. After concluding Frank’s unexpected shower of gifts, they had dinner and then had his chauffeur drive them back home, another driver taking her new car home. They returned to the mansion late at night and already full from the dinner and the restaurant, quickly bid Frank good night and retired for the day. “What are you doing here?” She was quickly pulled out of her trance by a familiar cold voice. Immediately clutching on to her bag, she turned to face Alexander standing few inches away from her, eyebrows arched with his driver right by his side. “Mr. Xavier,” she swallowed, immediately taking a step backwards. I
Time for breakfast came and went by, Elaine refusing to step out of her room throughout. With a sigh, she got up from her bed and took a short walk around, nervously rubbing her palms together like she had been doing for the past hour. After driving her home the previous night, Alexander had made it clear to her that it would be his last time to have her ride in his car thus leaving her with no choice but to be confused on what to do next. She couldn’t drive and definitely didn’t want to ask Frank for a driver. With none of her available options seeming feasible enough, she was left with absolutely no means of getting to work. She couldn’t dare walk up to him again and try pushing her luck. If she was lucky, he was probably going to just ignore her and get into his car while leaving her behind. But if luck refused to stay on her side, she could get scolded or yelled at by Alexander. He seemed to be a natural and scolding her and making her feel terrified. He did it so effortles
It was finally the weekend and after spending the last days of the week away from work thanks to her inability to drive and get herself a driver, Elaine had decided to completely rely on Dominique to continue teaching her how to drive. Just as concluded on the previous day, they were to resume driving immediately after breakfast and Elaine was more than prepared to get back to work. It was a weekend and since she was already used to waking up early, she woke up as early as she could and quickly got herself freshened up. Changing into one of the comfy clothes Alexander had gotten her from the huge shopping spree he took her on, she tied her hair up into a ponytail and headed downstairs for breakfast. She had skipped breakfast for two good days and it seemed like Frank was barely at the table too as he didn’t call her or speak to her about it. Hoping things were going to be the same way, she walked towards the dining to see her little prayer get accepted. Though Frank was absent, t
Alexander was pissed. And even more annoyingly, he couldn’t quite place a finger on the actual reason. He was glad Elaine finally came downstairs for breakfast after skipping it for numerous days but for some reason, couldn’t seem to show it. Maybe it was how he noticed she had suddenly bonded with Dominique or it was how he recollected her skipping work and actually refusing to ride with him the day before. Truthfully, he had asked her to keep her distance but at least, she could have tried to plead with him since she pretty much had no other means to go to work that day. But instead, she decided to stay back and completely ditch work. It was all for the better anyways. He had an impromptu situation come up on his way to work and just had to turn around to head there. It’ll have been a whole hassle with her in the car so for that singular reason he was to be glad she didn’t tag along. But still for some reason, he wasn’t glad. He had watched with irritation as she and Domini
