Beau sat close to Kaia, not liking how angry and pale she was getting by the minute. The woman claiming to be her mother had been going on for almost a half hour about how she worried sick she had been and how heartbroken she was by the lack of contact between them.

"Mr Navarro, I'm so glad you have been taking care of my little girl," she faked a little tremor to her voice and sniffled. Kaia continued to stare at her, still not saying a word. She kept glancing from her mother to the lump of muscle beside her with a deep frown on her face.

"What the fuck are you doing here Melissa?" At her words the room went dead silent. Beau had never heard that tone in her voice and he was supposed to be the most annoying person in her life. He pulled her into him and felt her slightly relax against him as she waited for her mother's response.
