On Friday night I received a call from Kim inviting to their family picnic. Although I was not very close to Clyde's family, I always tagged along because of Kim's consistent invitations. We used to be like peas in a pod when Clyde and Keri were dating. In most of their family picnics, two members outside the family were supposed to be invited as a rule. To make the occasion more lively, Clyde and Kim had to invite a close friend of theirs to join. I admired that family tradition of theirs.Kim always chose me because she said I was her best friend though she wasn't my best. We were super close though not in the way I was close to friends I wasn't related to. Clyde always came with Louis or his other friends. Before my first kiss with Clyde I'd always loved the picnics because it gave me a chance to hang out with the guy I was crushing on.This time I wasn't thrilled at all. I had not been with his family since we kissed and I knew awkwardness was g
I glared at Clyde as I descended the stairs. He stared at me, a smirk on his face. Kim and Jenny were wrapped up in a sisterly embrace, clearly happy to see each other again. They had always liked each other before Jenny decided to drop her miss innocent act and run off to Indianapolis with her new boyfriend, Daryl leaving Clyde broken hearted. I couldn't believe Kim was glad to see her after what she had put her brother through. Kim had always been a soft hearted person who forgave people easily and never kept grudges. Sometimes it went overboard."Shan!" Jenny beamed at me. "I missed you so much darling." She hugged me and withdrew her hands before I could put mine around her. "Did you find a boyfriend better than that good for nothing Chad? Oh my gosh, we have a lot to talk about. He used to be quite horrible I don't know how you managed to tolerate him. We should have a girls night out for the three of us. We used to be so tight and I'm so happy to be b
Kim and I carried the stuff we needed for the picnic to her car while Clyde and Jenny relaxed in the living room. Clyde seemed happy and it was killing me. What if he accepted her into his life again? I'd kill that bitch. I loved Clyde and he had to think about how I'd feel if he ran back into her arms. Besides she was much older than him compared to me. No way I was letting them be together again."What are we waiting for?" I asked Kim. Everything was in the trunk and her parents had carried some of the picnic baskets in the backseat of their car."Clyde and Kim," Kim informed me and slid into the driver's seat while I walked to the passenger side and got in. "We can't take three cars. Besides Clude can't drive steadily with Jenny now that she just got back. He can't keep his eyes off her. I think he still loves her but can't be sure. Maybe she's the reason he's not dating anyone.""I guess that's true," I sighed impatiently
