Chapter 12 - A Misunderstanding

I didn't notice that two months had flown by quickly as we got so busy in the base.

One night, Major Kavanaugh went knocking at the door of my quarter.

"Captain Smith, please follow me," I followed him without question as I trusted this comrade.

Seeing that we are drawing near the quarter where the president stayed during his surprise inspection, my body stiffened.

My heart was restless but I reasoned that he can't be here because I never heard that he came. So, I calmed down.

"Go inside," Major Kavanaugh said.

Reluctantly, I reached for the knob and twisted it before pushing the door.

My feet were rooted on the floor upon seeing the familiar back of a man.

He's here!

"Don't just stand there, come in and close the door behind you," his voice that was like a cielo resounded in my ears.

I missed this voice.

The last time I heard his voice was at the party, the night he proposed marriage to me.

After that night, I never heard from him.

I deduced that he was just jesting.
