Chapter 8

They arrived at the nearest hospital within fifteen minutes. Damien carried Emma and walked fastly towards the hospital. Some nurses who were at the entrance rushed towards him.

Others brought a stretcher from inside. They urged Damien to place her on the stretcher. He obliged and placed her carefully. "She needs medical attention quickly!". Damien said in a state of panic. The nurses rolled the stretcher as fast as they could towards the OT.

She had lost a lot of blood. Damien was panicking all through. "Where's the fucking doctor?!". He asked the nurses. "Here's not in the hospital at the moment Mr Damien". One of them repiled.

Damien's eyes grew red with rage. He pulled his hair harshly. He wiped his face with both his hands and heaved a long sigh. "Rojas!". He screamed. Rojas was in front of him in less than two minutes.

"I want you to arrange for the best doctor for Emma urgently!". He told him. Rojas nodded and made a few phone calls. Damien walked towards her. "Hurry Rojas! She's lost a lot of blood and is still bleeding!". He shouted all the more.

The nurses tried to calm him down. "Mr Damien please keep your voice down". Damien glared back at them. His aura was screaming danger and they could feel it from the distance where they were standing. "Mr Damien. You are at our hospital. What's the matter". The hospital's manager came running after hearing the commotion.

"She had an accident and I want her treated immediately. Look she has lost a lot of blood and your idiot of a nurses said the doctor isn't available! What kind of hospital is this?!". He screamed on top of his lungs. "Am sorry Mr Damien. Our doctor is not available. He's busy for a surgery out of town". The manager spoke. He could also feel his murderous gaze on him.

Damien couldn't hold himself. He glanced at her and reached for the manager's collar. He then held his neck with one hand. "What the heck! What kind of a hospital is this where you only have one doctor?! Tell me!". He spoke gritting his teeth. The manager's eyes were beyond shocked. "Mr Da...Damien..pl...plea". He tried to breathe in air as he was stuttering. He was gasping for air but Damien wasn't making it possible for him. He had held his neck tightly to such an extent that the man's veins were popping up clearly.

The nurses ran for help. The manager looked at Damien with pleading eyes. If he didn't stop within a few minutes, the manager knew he would be a goner. He struggled within Damien's tight grip around his neck.

His breath began to cease. His face was becoming pale and red all over. Soon his vision started to become blurry as small tears flew out of his eyes.

"Boss! Leave him! The doctor is here!". Rojas came running along with a doctor followed by the nurses earlier. Damien looked around and immediately left the manager who flew to the floor catching his breath quickly. Damien ran towards the doctor. "Doc! I don't care. You have to save her no matter what!". Damien warned him.

"I will do my best Mr Damien". The doctor spoke. Damien grabbed his collar. "I don't want to hear that crap! You have to save her or else you will only leave this hospital in a body bag. Do you understand!?". He gritted at the doctor. His face turned pale instantly with fear and terror. 

Damien let go of his collar. The doctor ushered the nurses to move the stretcher into the OT. They brought all the equipments and machines needed and took them into the OT.

They began the procedure. Damien walked back and forth on that floor flickering his hair with panic and worry. Emma was the only thing he loved and cherished after his mother.

He saw his mother die in front of him. If anything happens to Emma, he wouldn't be able to tolerate it. He wouldn't be able to bear another loss that was close to his heart again. He would die. Rojas looked at his boss. He felt bad for him. Rojas also could tell what was going on in Damien's head.

He is a lot older than Damien and apart from him being his boss, he also sees him as his younger brother. He knew that this situation they were in was similar to that of his mum. They also rushed her to the hospital after she collapsed. She had been battling cancer for a long time. She gave up and died on the hospital bed.

He knew how his mother's death shooked Damien and turned his happy family into ruins. He also prayed internally that Emma should survive. Only she could bring back happiness into Damien's life. After his mother's death. The happy and jovial little Damien varnished and a sinister and cunning Damien arrived.

He saw a way dispenser nearby. He saw that Damien was in stress and sweating despite the air conditioner being on. He strode towards the dispenser. He took two plastic small cups and poured water into them from the dispenser. He went back towards Damien and handed him one of the cups.

He looked at it and looked up at Rojas. "I don't want it!". He spoke in a cold tone and turned towards the OT and staring at the door. "Believe me boss. I strongly recommend you drink it." Rojas said calmly. Damien got more angry and turned to him. "Didn't you hear me you punk! I don't fucking want it!". He seethed at him. Rojas sighed. "Do it for Emma sir. She will need you to have strength". He said. 

Damien calmed down and stared at him and took the cup from him and drank it in one go. He gave it back to him. Thirty six minutes after, one of the nurses rushed towards them. Damien rushed to her. "What's wrong? Is Emma okay?" He asked immediately. "No. The doctor is trying his best to save her but she has lost a lot of blood. Her blood is O negative. We don't have that blood. It's really rare sir". The nurse repiled.

Damien listened to her words carefully. "Am O negative! You can take my blood!". He spoke up quickly. The nurse sighed in relief. "Come with me Mr Damien, we have to run tests on you and see if you are compatible to donate". She took him to a room. He sat on the bed. Some nurses rushed in and took his sample. Thankfully it was a match to Emma's and compatible. The nurse injected him and took a lot of his blood. He slowly felt weak a bit. He then internally thanked Rojas for insisting he takes water. 

He squeezed the small ball in his hand to supply more blood. The nurse took the required amount of blood from Damien. The other nurse gave him orange juice to gain back his strength.

They left the room. Damien rested on the bed for a minute and half and left heading towards the OT. "Boss you have to relax. You are short of blood as it is". Rojas cautioned him. Damien rolled his eyes and walked to the OT and began to pace back and forth once again. Rojas sighed in defeat and sat on the bench.

The procedure went for another hour before the OT doors opened. Damien looked up and saw the nurses bringing Emma out on a stretcher. Her entire head was bandaged. She had some bruises on her face and neck. Damien cursed himself after seeing her in this state. "Is she fine doctor?". He asked. "Yes Mr Damien. She did loose a lot of blood but thanks to you she is safe and out of danger". The doctor smiled. Damien sighed in relief and unknowingly smiled widely. He slowly began to chuckle as he was staring at her.

Rojas smiled at his boss. He was very happy. He was right. Only she can make Damien alright and to let go of the past in his life. He then vowed to help Damien in claiming her for him.

The nurses brought Emma inside a room. They injected drip in her and left the room. The manager and the nurses thanked the doctor for his successful procedure. Damien and Rojas walked up towards the doctor. "So when will she regain consciousness?". Damien asked. "She had a severe head injury. It might take a couple of hours or even a day or two at most. Bit she will need a 24hour care Mr Damien". The doctor repiled. "She can recover here at the hospital. We will make sure she gets the best care and 24hours on the clock". The manager repiled. Damien glared at him and the manager gulped in fear and holding his neck.

"That won't be necessary doctor. She will get the best care all the time but not in the hospital, she will stay at my house". Damien spoke.
