Chapter 9 - His Life

For Ethan, his family is his life and he can do anything for them. Kate is more precious to him.

He doesn't want the past to repeat itself, and that's why he doesn't let Kate make any friends. He is well aware of the fact that because of him she is alone!

Her happiness was gone a long time back but he tries his best to make her happy. A few days ago, their mom had an accident and he knows that it was a planned accident by his rival Asher Knight!

He will not leave that bastard and will hurt him most viciously for hurting his mom. His men are trying to find him everywhere but that bastard is playing hide and seek with him.

Ethan got to know from Kate's bodyguards that she made a friend. He told her that it's dangerous for her but sometimes she gets too stubborn.

So he has to deal with her new friend in his own way but first he needs to know who she is! Right now, Kate went shopping with her new friend and Ethan is working at his company, King Enterprises!

He was going through some project work when someone came in the room without knocking and he was ready to shout at the person whoever it was!

"Did you miss me, baby?" That disgusting voice reached his ear.

There was Mia, his business partner's daughter.

"I thought you were here to work on the project, not to do a fashion show." He said coldly.

"I missed you a lot, baby." She came near him and was about to touch his chest but he held her wrist.

"Get out of my cabin and get back to your work and if you don't want to work, then don't come in here." He said coldly, showing that he had no interest in her.

He left her wrist and then focused on the laptop. He could hear her stomping her feet and getting out of the cabin and he sighed in relief as the walking headache went away.

He checked the time on his watch as he had to go home to check on his mom. His dad is gone on a business trip and he also has to see the arrangements for Kate's birthday.

He went to the parking lot and got inside his Bugatti La Voiture Noire. He loves sports cars very much.

He has nineteen in his collection and he is gonna buy another one soon. He loves driving his car.

He started driving the car and he was near the mansion. It will take ten minutes to reach there.

Suddenly, he saw that someone was driving a Lamborghini Veneno beside his car and he recognized the car as soon as he saw it. He looked at the person who was driving it and he was none other than his cousin, Stefan.

Stefan took out his sunglasses and looked at him.

"When did you come?" Ethan asked loudly so that he could hear.

"Coming from the airport." Stefan replied.

Stefan lives in London and handles his father's business.

"What about a quick race?" Stefan asked and Ethan chuckled hearing him.

"Aren't you afraid of losing?" Ethan asked, smirking.

"Maybe this time I will win." Stefan said confidently.

Stefan instantly increased the speed of his car and went ahead of Ethan's car.

"Let's see then." Ethan said, smirking and increasing the speed of his car.

Soon Ethan was ahead of his car, reaching the mansion first and he gave a victory laugh to him. Ethan got out of the car looking at him and Stefan groaned in frustration as he lost again.

Then they did a brotherly hug and went inside the mansion. They went to meet Mrs. King and they talked for some hours.

Then Ethan went to the kitchen to make a cake for Kate as he wanted to wish her first with his handmade cake. He quickly grabbed all the ingredients and made a strawberry vanilla cake which she loves the most.

After making the cake, he kept it in the refrigerator and they all had dinner together with a lot of fun after many months. Then Ethan went to his room and changed into his nightclothes.

He started working on his laptop, waiting for midnight to wish Kate. When it was finally midnight, Ethan, their mom, and Stefan went to Kate's room with the cake to wish her.

When they reached her room, they saw that she was talking to someone. Ethan asked her who it was and she lied to him as she didn't want to reveal it, getting scared of his anger.

They wished her Happy Birthday and fed her the cake after she cut it but suddenly she started crying.

"Why are you crying, Kate?" Ethan asked, cupping her face and wiping her tears.

"I miss sis." Kate said crying and they all became silent.

Kate was remembering their older sister, Sarah who is two years older than Ethan. She died three years ago in a car accident and they were so unlucky that they couldn't even find her dead body.

"Don't cry, Kate." Their mom said ruffling her hair.

Kate loves Sarah more than Ethan as she used to fulfil every wish of hers. Ethan tucked Kate into bed and they wished her good night.

Ethan went to his room and slept remembering their old happy days.

The next morning, he woke up early because he had to finish some work so he went to his office in the mansion and started working. After some time, he heard the sound of a car coming.

Guests will come later, then who came so soon? He thought and focused on his work again.

After finishing his work, he got out of the office to go to his room to get ready for the party but suddenly someone bumped into him and screamed the next moment. He saw that the person was a girl and hot coffee fell on her neck and hand and he understood the reason for her screaming.

He looked at her face somehow though she didn't look up at him. He didn't find her beautiful but very cute with nerdy glasses.

She was constantly crying while looking at her hands and suddenly Kate came to her rescue. Kate asked her if she was okay but she didn't answer.

Then Ethan asked Kate about her coldly. Hearing his voice, that girl looked up at him but she quickly averted her gaze from him.

Kate wasn't answering his question so he was about to ask again but his mom's voice stopped him. She told him that she is Kate's friend and also she was the person who took her to the hospital.

So she is the one. Though she deserves 'Thank you' but I will never say it to her. She might be here for some selfish reason so I need to find out everything about her, He thought looking at her intensely, and went away from there ignoring his mom's words.
