Retreat

Millie sat on the northward bound train. She had chosen to travel first class, which meant that the carriage was quiet. Only two people were working away on their laptops further down, and she didn't want loads of people around her. Peace and quiet were paramount to her at the moment. She needed silence, and the only noise she wanted was made by the train's movement on the tracks, which sent her into a frantic doze. Millie had never felt comfortable falling asleep on trains, what if she missed her stop, what if someone stole her bag. She sat up and took a drink from the bottle of water she had brought. Millie sat up straight in her seat, looking around and out of the windows. She had to stay awake, and she was happy when the trolley came about, and she stocked up on snacks and drinks.
