10. Date with Rowan(a)

Ruby’s POV

“Ruby.” He looks at me with his ruby eyes, there is something behind them, something I have never seen before. He looks vulnerable, he looks broken, and it's like he has given up. It's so unlike him.

“Owen, please don't.” I know he knows what is running in my mind.

“But you have already made a choice, beautiful. I have resigned my fate, baby.” He tilts his head sideways and shrugs.

“What do you mean?” I ask, wrapping my hands around his neck.

“Don't do that baby, you know it really hurt me when you chose Rowan over me, I thought you wanted me more.” He says, I feel how sad he is. “I thought you were going to choose me, you were all that I wanted, you are the person who can save me Ruby, I might sound selfish, but I don't want to be reduced to nothing.” He smiles feebly.

“What do you mean by save, Owen.” I ask.

“It doesn't matter, seeing you earlier on the verge of death, made me realize that you are the most important person in my life and that your safety and happiness
