Daniela and Jase went quiet at the same time. The two turned their backs on each other, forcing their sons and daughters to leave without saying anything. Even Maxine and Maxine no longer press their parents for answers, as if they don't want to bring up subject matters that their parents may have long kept hidden.

"What did you mean by what you said before, Mom?"

Although her tone was slow, she emphasized each syllable she had just spoken. Because of this, Daniela and Liam both came to a halt and placed their feet on the number seven stairs from the bottom.

Daniela took a deep breath, too tired to explain all the complexities she was already trying to conceal for the past few years. She wasn't ready to tell her eldest daughter everything. Daniela did nothing else but stare at her daughter, who was standing in the m
