The Beast

Xevia's POV

I don't know how long I was asleep or somewhat unconscious. The last thing I remember is that I was in a dark forest and met a giant wolf that bit my arm. Then I passed out. It felt strange. My memories from that time are a little hazy, but there's no doubt something happened after that.

"Hey," a voice called out.

I opened my eyes again just as the light from the door hit my eyes. A girl stood at the door. She smiled at me with her friendly brown eyes.

"Are you alright?" She asked, worry seen obviously in her expression.

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I just-"

"You were attacked." She cut in.

"There was a big beast, and it tore your clothes off. Did any part of your body get hurt?" She continued as I shook my head silently.

"Can you tell me what happened?"

I looked away.

"I can't really remember. Oh yeah, where am I now? And who brought me to this place?" I asked as I realized that I was now in a spacious room with two wooden beds painted brown. I also looked at the wooden floor beneath me, a shiny and clean floor.

"My brother brought you here. He found you bleeding and unconscious near a tree in the Aminour Forest."

"Your brother?"

The dark blonde-haired girl nodded with a sweet smile.

"Oh yes, the doctor who examined you left these with me." The girl handed me a few bottles of medicine.

"Medicine?" I asked.

"Those are vitamins for pregnant women. They can reduce nausea and make your baby healthier."

"You must be hungry. Do you want to eat something?" the girl asked again.

I shook my head. I wasn't hungry at all.

My thoughts kept wandering back to that wolf. It had been a monster, more significant than any I'd seen before. The teeth alone made me shudder.

It's not every day you meet one of those things. They're rare. But even so, I couldn't help feeling a slight thrill when I'd gotten the first glance at it. And I could still feel its sharp claws digging into my skin. That didn't seem like the kind of injury caused by an animal.

And then I remembered...the creature. Its face, that snarl.

"All right, if that's what you want. If you feel hungry, go down to the first floor. There's plenty of food there. Our pack is having a feast," the girl said before finally closing the door of the room I was in.

I stared at the bottle of pills in my hand before putting it down on the nightstand next to the bed I was lying in.

A few minutes later, another person came to my room. I quickly sat and hoped to look normal and not like I was having a vivid nightmare. He looked around twenty years old, maybe twenty-eight, with dark inky hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. He seemed to have some military training. He wore a red shirt and black pants.

"Hey, there," the man said as he gave me a gentle smile. His tone was friendly enough, but his face betrayed that he knew exactly what he was doing. This guy was either very smart or had superpowers. I didn't know which one scared me more.

He held a plate in his hands, "Hungry?"

I swallowed thickly and tried to act naturally.

"Yeah..."

The words escaped my lips before I could think about whether they would sound weird.

"Did you save me?" I asked in as calm a tone of voice as possible.

The young man smiled, "not me, but my brother."

"Can I meet him?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity about who had saved my life and the life of the baby in my womb.

"Well, we can go downstairs if you want, but he's probably a bit busy," he replied before standing up and turning to leave the room.

I placed the plate of food, which I hadn't touched at all, on the nightstand. I slowly got up from the bed and tried to stroll even though my whole body still felt in pain.

"Can you walk on your own?" the man asked. I winced at the pain.

"Yes, I can."

I couldn't possibly ask him to carry me even if I was unable to walk. I'll still try my best, with a little force.

With that thought in mind, I followed behind the young man and went downstairs. I tried my best not to let the pain overwhelm me. I just wanted to see the man who had saved my life.

The man led me to the one room on the first floor. He knocked at the door before entering. "Hey! We're here!" he yelled, and I heard voices talking. Then there was silence. I peeked into the room. I saw a man in His white shirt looking out the window. The dashing man stood with his back to us. He had golden hair with dark roots, which reminded me of honey.

He turned back as he heard the young man calling him. He didn't say anything. He just like looked at me, unblinking. Then I Saw him pick up a nearby wooden stick and use it as a tool to help him walk in the direction he wanted to go. Wait a minute! What? Is he blind?

"Take her away from here!"

"Brother, she just wants to see you."

"Didn't I tell you that I don't want to meet anyone? Including her?" The blind man shouted right in front of me. I could understand him because I knew he couldn't see my existence.

"I just wanted to say thank you!" I replied quickly.

He furrowed his brow, "alright, I've heard you. Now get your feet out of this room. And don't bother me."

"Well, thanks again-"

"Get lost!" The man looked in anger. But I don't know what makes him behave that way to me.
